Chapter 9 First Time in the Kitchen

Volume 1: Gathering Wind and Flowers Chapter 9: First Time in the Kitchen

At ease and quietly listening, let Mother take your hand, watching as Mother returns the ceramic jar to Wang's wife.

"Wang Danni, I'm so sorry. If you think the seasoning is not enough, you can come to my house to get some." Ansu said with an apologetic face.

"Never mind, I'll go back and stir-fry the dishes first," said Wang Danni, waving her hand. After finishing speaking, she greeted the others and hastily left.

"Now, you take this chicken, we'll have it for lunch today." Ansu Su said to An Xin beside her, holding a branch with roasted chickens strung on it in one hand.

With a bashful smile, she stuck out her tongue and accepted the roasted chicken.

Liu Xuan's eyes stared straight at the roasted chicken in An Xin's hands, and since most of the villagers were not well-off, he rarely got to eat meat dishes, let alone a whole plump roasted chicken.

An Xin glanced at him with disdain, deliberately raising the roasted chicken in his hand to show off, but then he thought of his little black condition and his anger was not yet dissipated. His eyes were fiercely staring at Liu Xuan, who had saliva almost dripping from his mouth.

Feeling the intimidating gaze, Liu Xuan shrank his neck, forcing himself to turn away his eyes, smiling with a flattering face, but the corner of his eye still occasionally glanced at that tender and seductive roasted chicken.

An Su led An Xin away, first taking her to repair the chicken coop fence that had been damaged by the circle of chickens, and then returning home to personally catch a chicken in the chicken coop and return it to Zhang's mother.

An Su cut the roasted chicken into uniform blocks with a kitchen knife, put them on a plate, and even made some dipping sauce for An Xin to dip and eat.

"Mother, you come and eat too." An Xin threw down her chopsticks and directly used her hands to grab a chicken leg, taking big bites and eating with oil dripping from her mouth. With her mouth full, she mumbled and said.

I didn't expect that my first time roasting chicken would be so successful, although it wasn't as delicious as I had imagined, but for someone who has never cooked before, the taste was pretty good.

"You eat, Mother will eat something else." Ansu Su was still busy in the kitchen and heard An Xin's voice, so she replied with a sentence.

I was going to cook braised pork at noon, but now I've had a peaceful meal of roasted chicken and probably won't be able to eat anymore, so I'll just put the raw pork in a small pot for later.

"Mom, come and eat quickly, this is my first time cooking, try my craftsmanship." A big chicken leg was swallowed into the belly, and with a satisfied burp, she wiped her greasy hands with her skirt. Seeing that her mother still didn't want to come out, An Xin spoke loudly again, "Mom, I won't be able to finish it all, in this weather, if we leave it for too long, it will easily go bad."

It's now sunny in March, the weather is warming up, bacteria are multiplying, and if food is left out for too long, it can easily go bad.

An Su helplessly wiped away the water droplets on her hands and walked out of the kitchen.

"Mother, come quickly, it's really delicious, and it's not inferior to the imperial cuisine in the palace." An Xin got up enthusiastically and pulled An Su Su down, recommending it strongly.

"It's great that you can eat your first roasted chicken, as long as you don't get a stomachache, I'll be satisfied," An SuSu said with a smile, looking at An Xin's already puffed up small mouth, "Besides, you haven't even eaten the imperial cuisine in the palace, how do you know it's not delicious?"

Anxin, somewhat dissatisfied and unwillingly said, "I just know that I am a natural free-range chicken, no hormones, naturally fed, and on top of that, Anxin's chef personally roasted me. Eating me is healthy and beautifying, and it will make you live forever."

“Hmph!” An Su couldn't help but burst out laughing, “It's just an ordinary roasted chicken, what you said is really strange. What do you mean by 'hormone'? Even the rare and delicious dishes in the palace can't make one live forever. You're thinking too much.” An Su stretched out her long fingers to tap on An Xin's smooth forehead, then took out a handkerchief from her bosom to help wipe away the greasy stain at the corner of her mouth.

With a confident smile and hands on hips, with an air of discontent on his face, he thought to himself, what delicious food haven't I had in modern times? Can the delicacies made in the imperial palace be compared to the 5,000 years of Chinese cuisine?

"Alright, alright, just try it." An Xin didn't say another word, picked up the chopsticks and picked up another chicken leg to bring to An Su's mouth.

Ansu glared at Anxin lightly and couldn't help but start muttering, "You're a girl, be gentle." As soon as she finished speaking, Anxin had already stuffed the chicken leg into Ansu's mouth.

An Su couldn't help but take a small bite, savoring it slowly.

"How is it." Anxin opened her eyes wide and stared at her mother, with anticipation flashing on her small face, and asked excitedly, "Is it delicious?"

After swallowing the chicken completely, An Su slowly opened his mouth and said, "Although it's not as exaggerated as you said, but the taste is pretty good."

He let out a sigh of relief, his mouth curled up even more, and with an arrogant expression, he said, "I told you, your daughter is a genius. If I really prepare to be a chef, other restaurants will have to close down."

She praised herself with a casual sentence, and the little tail that had been lifted high again, An Su's mouth twitched, was this daughter of hers not a typical example of "once the wound heals, the pain is forgotten"?

"After dinner, copy the female precepts 10 times for me, otherwise we'll have porridge again tonight." An Su Su restrained the smile on her face and threatened in a stern tone.

Her face, which had been smiling and cheerful just a moment before, suddenly fell. She looked at her mother with an expression of utmost resentment and said pitifully, "Mother, don't make me." The brush was something she still didn't hold correctly to this day, let alone use it to write characters, and on top of that, it was the detestable women's script.

"It's got to be." An Su's voice was firm and unyielding. "If you don't learn your lesson, you'll end up making a big mess in the future."

She smiled and shook her head, not thinking much of it. Her mother really overestimated her. At most, she was just someone who laughed while others cried, how could she stir up trouble? She wasn't Sun Wukong, after all, without a magical golden hoop that could stretch and shrink at will.

But seeing his mother had no room for negotiation, An Xin honestly nodded in agreement.

  Digression

Don't mind the slow progress, everyone. This book has a lot of framework to set up, and the calm life at the beginning is necessary as a foundation. It will get more frequent later on.
