Chapter 8: The Storm Subsides

Volume 1: Gathering Winds Chapter 8: Calming the Storm

An Xin's face scrunched up in worry as she stood with her head hung low, listlessly listening to An Su Su's lecture.

Ansu said for half a day, Anxin kept her head down and didn't make a sound. Looking at her daughter who had lost her bright smile, Ansu also felt some unease in her heart. She reined in the harsh words on her face, softened her tone and gently said, "Anxin, don't do this again, okay? As long as you like it, anything at home can be played with, Mom won't mind." After all, she couldn't bear to part with it, Anxin was still a child, and she couldn't be too demanding.

Upon hearing this, An Xin's head, which had been hanging down in anxiety, suddenly lifted up quickly. Her heart felt a warm current flowing through it as she looked at her mother with shining eyes and said in a crisp tone, "Mother, you're so fond of me that I know you can't bear to scold me." An Xin didn't care about the few people watching from the side and took several steps forward to hug An Su Su.

"Don't worry, I knew Mother An wouldn't punish you. Look, I didn't even plead for you." Liu Xuan said, having watched the mother-daughter reunion with satisfaction, but tactlessly added.

As soon as I heard this, my anger dissipated. The one who must have informed on me today is definitely him. All the adults are busy with their own affairs, and the village children run away when they see me, except for this guy, who wanders around the village every day, doing nothing. He must have accidentally seen me today, so he reported me. Traitor, traitor to the nation, Han traitor, Ahn's curses in his heart are jubilant.

"Now you've seen my joke, still dare to make these sarcastic remarks, just wait and see, I'll make you suffer, you don't know why the flowers are so red," An Xin's sharp gaze suddenly shot towards Liu Xuan who was smiling foolishly on the side. Receiving the message in An Xin's eyes, Liu Xuan's smile froze, even though he had known An Xin for so long, he had never seen such a fierce expression from her before.

Liu Xuan's strange expression was stored in his eyes, and a cold smile appeared on his face again. He withdrew the hand that had been holding onto his mother's waist and walked straight to Liu Xuan's front. Liu Xuan was frightened by An Xin's cold smile with a hint of evil intentions and involuntarily took a few steps back. But then he thought to himself, "I'm also a man, how can I be intimidated by a little girl?" So, Liu Xuan steeled himself and took another step forward, asking in a somewhat timid tone, "An Xin, what's wrong? Do you have something to say to me?"

She glanced sideways and saw the big wife and little daughter-in-law next to Liu Xuan looking at her with a strange gaze, so she retracted the killing intent on her face, smiled brightly, revealing eight teeth in a standard smile, and said warmly, "It's okay, Liu Xuan. I've been bored these days, let's go out more often."

Liu Xuan felt a chill run down his spine. If he wasn't mistaken, An Xin had said those words before, and the person she was talking to now was shivering with fear. Liu Xuan forced out a stiff smile, trying to appease her, but his voice lacked conviction as he said, "An Xin, I've been busy these past few days, let's go out again some other time."

"What are you busy with? You can't even lead an army to fight, nor transform into Ultraman to save the world. All day long, you're idle and wandering around the village, bringing trouble to it. It's better for you to follow me." With a wave of her hand, she said solemnly.

Everyone simultaneously wiped the cold sweat from their foreheads. The disaster that plagued the village was you, rest assured. A few women opened their mouths but didn't dare to speak out. Liu Xuan was a big mouth, and if it were any other day, he would have spoken up immediately. But today, even though his brain wasn't working well, he still managed to catch on to some clues. He realized that An Xin's intentions weren't good, and if he said anything more, he might not be able to live peacefully tomorrow. He forced himself to swallow the words that were about to come out of his mouth, turning his dark face red with effort.

Ansu looked at the different expressions on everyone's faces, some of which were quite amusing. "Alright, don't worry, let's go back." After saying that, she turned around and said, "Mrs. Zhang, later you can come to my house and pick a chicken from the coop as compensation for your loss."

An Su gently picked up the clay pot and roasted chicken from the ground, walked forward, pulled An Xin's small hand over, tilted her head and said softly, "Let's go fix the fence you broke."
