Chapter 5: 13 Clean, we are friends
"What's wrong with the cat? What should we do?"
"Run." Meizi said, getting down from the bed quietly and walking to the door. The bathroom light had gone out and the whole room was pitch black. "They took away our key card. They'll definitely come again soon."
Jing also got up from the bed, put on her shoes. She saw the cat open the curtains and look down at the building below, then grabbed her hand: "We're going to sneak out now, escape from the cigarette factory."
"Good." Jing pursed her lips tightly and nodded, and her originally uneasy heart suddenly gained a thread of strength.
The cat meowed and pulled her gently to open the door, took a look outside, it's okay, they're not there.
The cat ran out of the door without closing it, pulling Jing directly down the stairs, hand in hand they ran out of the hotel entrance. The service staff looked at their escaping backs with a hint of surprise but didn't say anything.
Jing followed closely behind Miao, running on the quiet and empty road. The warm yellow streetlights stretched out their shadows. At that moment, she could feel Miao's fear, feeling her hand holding hers lightly trembling.
"Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, we'll be fine."
Jing really wanted to tell Miao Ni that she wasn't afraid at all, and even fell in love with the feeling of rapid running. There were no shuttling crowds, no speeding cars, only an endless darkness that seemed to have no end.
Holding the cat's paw like this, I hear the sound of the wind whistling from beside my ear.
I feel my heart is quieter than it has ever been before.
"We have to hide in the dark." The cat stopped in its tracks, "It's too big here, they have cars and will catch up soon."
As soon as the words fell, a sudden screeching sound pierced through the darkness, followed by a man's indistinct angry curses.
The cat quickly pulled the clean into the dark and dense forest, and the two leaned against the tree trunk. Several figures with flashlights walked from a distance, and the cat stuck tightly to the tree trunk, not daring to look back until the flashlight's beam swept past several times.
"We're probably not going out now." The cat looked at Jing, her eyes still shining brightly like stars in the darkness.
"What can be done?" Jing seemed to only ask this question.
I made a phone call. The cat suddenly seemed to remember something, took out the mobile phone and flipped through Wei Chi's number, pressed the dial button, and nervously stuck it to his ear.
"Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently out of service, please try again later."
"It can't get through. How could it not get through." The cat's eyes dropped down in a bit of panic, continuing to flip through the numbers nonstop.
Liang Chen's phone number hasn't been saved yet. And He Kun is definitely not someone she can look for, as everything was arranged by him. Even if she was foolish before, she has now figured it out. Calling 110 is even more impossible, as she doesn't want to make things that big of a deal.
This won't work either, and that won't work either. The cat feels like it's really lost its mind.
"Where's your cell phone?" the cat suddenly asked her.
"I rushed out this morning to find you and forgot to bring my phone. How is it? Has the cat got a way out?"
"Now I can only think of one way." Cat Ni looked at the road, the man's hands were still searching for their shadows back and forth. "The exit is not far ahead, but someone is guarding it. I'll go distract them, then you take advantage of the opportunity to escape, as far as you can."
"No," he grasped her hand tightly, shaking his head continuously, even tears were about to fall, "I know if I leave, Miao Ni will be in great danger alone, no, I want to stay here with you."
"But if you don't go out, the two of us staying here will be even worse. You can at least find someone to rescue me when you go out. And... I may not necessarily have an accident." The cat pried open her hand, and Jingci was already somewhat hesitant at this moment.
"Clean, we are friends, aren't we?" The cat stared at her eyes, extremely serious. "So, you must believe me."
"Really?"
"Uh! You have to believe me. Because I also believe you can save me."
Staring at her, a light suddenly lit up in his eyes. She bit her lip firmly: "Right! We are friends. I believe in Miao Miao!"
The cat smiled, for the first time in front of her, smiling so brightly, feeling a warmth in her heart, with a thrilling sensation.
She also found herself liking cat's smile from that time on, just like a beautiful vase, coated with a glaze that would glow.
The cat looked at Xi Yin for the last time, then quietly went to the other side, walking from the darkness to the middle of the highway. The warm yellow light shone on her body, and she stood there quietly, waving her hand towards the exit.
"Look! She's over there!" The man with the flashlight rushed towards the cat hole, and the cat hole started to run in the opposite direction. Jing stood by the tree trunk in the darkness, watching as the cat hole's back view gradually became smaller, her eyes blurred with tears.
Very soon, the exit was empty, without any delay, she rushed out with her head down, her heart seemed to be jumping out of her chest. She ran all the way to the door and hailed a passing taxi.
"Where are you going, miss?"
"Where to... where to... go to Nanjie 9th! Quick!" After a moment of hesitation, she loudly reported the address, her hands tightly grasping the car's seat cushion, tears streaming down her face.
My beloved kitty, you absolutely can't be in trouble! Absolutely can't!
