Chapter 5: 12. Can I sleep with you in one bed?
In the midst of a bustling street, a cat was sitting at the entrance of a hotel, staring blankly into the dark night scene. The passersby had already become sparse.
"It's already past 10 o'clock now, I'm afraid you won't be able to return to the dormitory." He Kun looked at his watch and said with some apology.
"Wasn't it just past 7 o'clock? How did it suddenly become 10 o'clock?" The cat took out her phone and took a look, and indeed it was already past 10 o'clock.
It wasn't until they came out that they realized how dark it was. She was angry and couldn't help but regret that neither Jing nor herself had noticed the time.
"Maybe I'm wrong, or maybe time just flies by." He Kun smiled wryly and said "Forget it, I'll arrange a place for you to stay. You can go back tomorrow morning, should be fine."
"You're doing it on purpose, aren't you?" The cat's eyes were cold as she stared at He Kun, her words spoken out loud, and her fists clenched unknowingly.
He Kun looked at the cat, silent for a few seconds: "I'll go up and open a room for you. If you want to stay, stay; if not, you can call a car to leave later. As for where to go or what happened, I won't bother with it."
The people around had all dispersed, and the cat watched him go upstairs alone, with a desolate back view, and his heart was filled with unknown flavors.
He Kunkang has been taking care of himself for a long time, and he specifically moved to Mingze to develop his career, more or less for his own sake. Today's incident is not a big deal, she's just making a fuss over nothing.
The cat thought for a moment, looked around, and let out a soft sigh.
"Alright, I'll trust you this time. Let's go up!"
"Uh-huh." Jing continued smiling, as if she would do whatever the cat said without thinking whether it was right or wrong.
This is a relatively quiet hotel with only one service staff at the counter.
When the cat came over, he had already opened the door.
He smiled at them: "I'll go first, I'll come find you tomorrow." After finishing speaking, he quickly walked downstairs.
The waitress led them to the room. After inserting the room card, the lights lit up instantly. The room was very large with two double beds. The waitress left and gently closed the door.
After closing the curtains and door, the cat lay down to sleep with some trepidation. She was the second one to take a bath. When she came out, she put her clothes back on, buttoning every single button tightly.
"I'm a bit scared," she said. "Can I sleep with you in one bed?"
"Of course." The cat moved a bit towards the outside, "You sleep inside."
"It's really good to be a cat." Said with a smile, happily crawling. "I didn't know cats could wear clothes too, I thought you weren't wearing any."
"Mmm." The cat's voice grew softer and softer until it was almost inaudible, too tired to speak anymore. Both of them dozed off in a daze. The bathroom light was still on, and they leaned gently against each other. In her haze, the cat seemed to have returned to her childhood, sleeping in the same bed as Xi Yin, with the moonlight outside shining through the window and casting a soft glow on the quilt, an unprecedented tranquility.
It was probably around midnight when the cat suddenly heard a rustling sound in the room, accompanied by men's voices.
"Weren't two beds opened for them......"
"How can they all sleep together like this? How can I make a move?"
Dazed and confused, Cat Niu hadn't heard clearly, only feeling the noise. Opening her eyes, she saw someone sitting beside her bed, shaking a cup of water. Another person was standing by the TV, their outline vague in the darkness, hard to make out. "Who are you? How did you suddenly come here?" Cat Niu sat up, asking warily, while Jing hid under the covers, holding onto Cat Niu's hand with some fear.
"Oh, we're friends with He Kun. He told me to come and see if you need anything." This excuse was clearly a bit awkward, but they said it as if it were perfectly natural.
The cat suddenly saw that the two men were already around 40 years old, old enough to be their fathers. She made an effort to put on a charming smile: "Oh, so you're friends with He Kun? We don't have anything going on, why don't you guys go out first? We'll get ready."
As she spoke, her eyes darted back and forth, hiding under the quilt.
Two strange men suddenly understood each other, thinking that the cat was willing, while Jing wasn't quite ready and nodded: "Okay, let's go out first."
"Hmm." The cat maintained a smile until the men left, then restored its stern expression.
Hearing the sound of the door being pushed open, Jing got out of bed and grabbed Cat Niu's hand: "Cat Niu, what should we do?"
