Triple therapy for Helicobacter pylori

  Helicobacter pylori, Triple Therapy

The first story "Belly" and the second story "Thin Stomach" both involve Helicobacter pylori.

Helicobacter pylori is a bacterium that lives in the mucous layer of the stomach and the layer of epithelial cells beneath it, producing toxins and other biofactors that cause inflammation of the mucosa.

Since the 1980s, it has been found that Helicobacter pylori infection and colonization are not only a cause of chronic gastritis but also a major factor in ulcer disease, especially duodenal ulcers. This is a new concept in the study of ulcer disease etiology. Compared to people without H. pylori infection, those with gastric H. pylori infection have a 20:1 risk ratio for developing duodenal ulcers. Long-term follow-up observations have shown that antibacterial treatment can improve the natural course of ulcer disease, promote ulcer healing and prevent recurrence.

Triple therapy is the most effective treatment for eradicating Helicobacter pylori. In adult patients with H. pylori-related gastrointestinal diseases, numerous clinical trials have demonstrated that a triple therapy consisting of omeprazole, amoxicillin and clarithromycin (OAC) can effectively eradicate H. pylori and completely eliminate clinical symptoms.

The most commonly used triple therapy:

  Drug combination:

  Losec 20mg (1 tablet) + Amoxicillin 750mg (3 tablets, each containing 250mg) + Metronidazole 400mg (2 tablets, each containing 200mg).

  Losartan 20mg + Erythromycin 500mg (4 tablets, each containing 125mg) + Metronidazole 400mg.

  (3)Lansoprazole 20mg + Amoxicillin 750mg + Erythromycin 500mg

  Usage:

Choose one of the above groups of drugs to take, each drug is taken twice a day (once in the morning and once in the afternoon) at the above dosage for 7-14 days as one course. After one course, continue to take Losartan alone for another 2 weeks, with the same dosage and administration method as before.

When undergoing triple therapy, attention should be paid to the toxic and side effects of drugs (especially anti-HP drugs), such as metronidazole which can cause nausea and hairy tongue; amoxicillin and erythromycin may cause diarrhea, nausea, glossitis, allergic urticaria, rash and drug fever, etc., so it should be used under the guidance and supervision of a doctor.

The general course of treatment is 7 days. After the course of treatment, stop taking medicine for 1 month and go for a re-examination to see if there are still helicobacter pylori. If it's negative, it means thorough eradication.

Of course, antibiotics must be used with caution and should not be taken for a long time.
