Chapter 6: Crisis Reborn

Volume 1: Jin Dynasty Ancient Tomb Chapter 6: Crisis Re-emerges

"Ah……ah……" The mournful cry made my scalp numb, and I couldn't help but turn my head to look. Liu Ran was already lying straight on the ground, with blood holes all over his body, and snakes crawling in and out from time to time. I stumbled, almost falling, and this tumble made me feel another wave of nausea. I really couldn't vomit again; if I did, I'd probably be done for.

Liu Ran's companion clutched his chest and rolled on the ground, seeing him roll to the dwarf's feet, suddenly grabbing the dwarf's foot. I heard the dwarf's curse, in order to escape he kicked hard even using a flamethrower to hit the half-dead person on the ground. Suddenly, a fire broke out behind him, branches and leaves burning into a three-meter-high firewall. A figure emerged from behind the tree, surprisingly it was Shi Tou. I saw him throw down the flamethrower and quickly chase after us. Not long after, he caught up with me, pulling me to continue running wildly. This time the fire is different from last time, probably will burn a large area of the forest.

"That short one probably won't make it, will he?" I asked in a low voice, panting heavily.

The stone seemed not to be very tired at all, and there were not many sweat beads on his face. "Even if there was no wall of fire, he would not have been able to escape, the things that the dead grasp are very hard to open."

"Alas," I shook my head helplessly, "dragging someone down with you in your dying breath, isn't that a bit immoral?"

The stone smiled slightly and stared at me, saying, "They are all our enemies, and being able to take down one is one."

I gave a thumbs up, "That's enough." This time there were no venomous snakes chasing us, but we had to run anyway because the mountain fire was coming. Fortunately, it wasn't windy today, and when it reached an area with sparse trees, it stopped burning on its own.

We all fell to the ground and didn't care about the danger anymore. Now I think the greatest happiness is not earning one million, but lying in bed and sleeping soundly.

"Let's take a break here!" Liu Wei plopped his butt down on the package and twisted open a bottle of mineral water, pouring it directly into his mouth.

Zhu Pangzi walked over with a huff, casting a cold glance at Liu Wei. Suddenly, he turned his head and glared at me crudely, saying, "I say, kid, you've never even been in a fight before, yet you're boasting that you can lead us to the tomb's location? Look at what a sorry state you're in!"

I rubbed my nose and said with a somewhat aggrieved tone, "Zhuge Liang didn't bring any troops when he first came out of the mountain either! What makes you demand that I have work experience?"

"You..." One sentence made Zhu Baozi's face turn purple, "Hmph, can't find the tomb? Wait and see how I'll deal with you!" After throwing down a ruthless remark, Zhu Baozi walked to one side and sat down. There were five people sitting together with him. I was sitting with Shi Tou, two Japanese men were sitting together, Liu Wei had only one person beside him, an old man named Lao Liang, over 40 years old, slender build, narrow eyes, exuding a murderous aura and ferocity.

Liu Wei threw over two packages of crispy intestines and two bags of bread, saying, "Eat something, rest for an hour, and we'll set off again."

After finishing speaking, he and Old Liang stood up, pulling out all the grass beside them, revealing a vacant piece of land.

The stone drank the water, threw away the bottle, and squatted down to tidy up the mountaineering bag in front of me. He pulled it twice and suddenly stumbled as if he was about to fall. I quickly supported him with one hand, and he leaned into my ear and said hastily, "Someone is following us, be careful." After finishing speaking, he picked up the mountaineering bag again, took out another bottle of water, and acted as if nothing had happened, without letting anyone see that he had spoken to me.

Shi Tou is a special forces veteran, and considering his relationship with me, he said that someone was following us, which was absolutely not wrong. Didn't Liu Wei and the others notice anything along the way? I raised my neck and couldn't help but glance around at the people nearby. Two Japanese men were leaning against each other, seemingly asleep. Zhu Baozi's group was still eating over there. Liu Wei was lying on his backpack, while Old Liang vigilantly stared in all directions. For a moment, it was hard to tell who among them was being followed or if they had any enemies, but the probability of that was too small. There were no signs, and it would be difficult to follow up.

As I walked, there was nothing, but as soon as I rested, the feeling of fatigue surged up like a tide, and before I knew it, I had fallen asleep on my backpack. In a daze, I felt something prick my left leg, turned over, reached out to touch it, and grabbed something hard, thinking it was a stone or some other hard object. I squeezed it hard, and suddenly the thing in my hand moved, and it was actually a living creature! I sat up with a start, saw that I had pinched a scorpion in my hand, and was stunned! Trembling all over, I said, "H-how can there be a scorpion here?" As soon as I finished speaking, I felt a numbness spreading from my leg, and hastily flung the scorpion away.

The stone hastily got up, took two steps to my side and squatted down, looking at me with concern and asked, "What's wrong? Were you stung by a scorpion?"

I nodded, touching the numb spot on my leg. Shi Tou reached out and ripped open my pants with one hand. The area where I was stung had already turned purple. Shi Tou frowned, then suddenly pinched my thigh hard, making me yelp in pain. Liu Wei came over, pulled out a dagger, and cut open the flesh. The blood that flowed out was dark red. The pain made me gasp. Zhu Baozi just glanced at me indifferently, curled his lip, and turned away.

The stone squeezed out blood with force until the flowing blood started to turn red and stopped. Old Liang handed over a bottle of disinfectant, and Shi Tou was about to clean my wound when Zhu Baozi suddenly shouted and stood up.

"Hurry, hurry and leave this place." Zhu Baozi slung his backpack over his shoulder and started running. We looked down at the ground and saw that something was moving under the fallen leaves. Upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a large patch of leeches. Shi Tou didn't have time to clean my wound, so he splashed disinfectant on my leg. The strong medicine made me shudder. Shi Tou quickly slung his backpack over his shoulder and supported me as we followed Zhu Baozi in a run.

I gritted my teeth and said to the stone, "There's sulfur in the backpack."

"Get the sulfur out, damn it!" Zhu Pangzi cursed on the side. Shi Tou glared at him and said lightly, "There's not enough time, and if we take out the sulfur, the scorpions will come too."

I lowered my head to take a look at my injured leg, but suddenly saw a foot stretching out from the side, tripping over a tall and thin person next to me. I raised my head abruptly, and it was Liu Wei, who gave me a slight smile. He used Zhu Bao's man to block the scorpion, human nature is indeed the most difficult to grasp.

"Ah!" A loud cry, the tall and thin one was in so much pain that he rolled all over the ground. The scorpions rushed forward in a flurry. With this person as "food", the scorpions temporarily stopped advancing. Taking advantage of this brief pause, Shi Tou took out some sulfur and sprinkled it on me, then sprinkled some on himself, before handing it to Liu Wei. But instead of using it first, Liu Wei handed it over to the Japanese man with both hands, leaving me utterly disgusted - what a despicable traitor! One packet of sulfur was barely enough for ten people, fortunately the scorpions didn't attack us again.

"Come on, let's get out of here." Zhu Baozi trotted ahead, leading the way.

The ground was densely packed with scorpions, and one misstep would result in a whole patch being trampled to death. Fortunately, Liu Wei had added a thin layer of steel plate inside the leather boots he gave us, which prevented our boots from being pierced through. Although the scorpions didn't attack us, they clearly didn't want to let us off either. No matter how we ran, the scorpions kept following closely behind. The loud rustling sound of numerous scorpions crawling made us dare not breathe or rest for a moment, and the tension was unbearable.

"Have you ever seen a scorpion like this?" I turned my head and said to Shi Tou.

"The rock shook its head and said 'No, but let's hurry up and run! Once the smell of sulfur fades, they will definitely attack.'"
