Chapter 17: Devils Fighting Devils

Volume 1: Ancient Tombs of Jin Country Chapter 19: Ghosts Fighting Ghosts

"What's going on?" Zhu Baozi was also anxious and stomped his feet.

I took out a Swiss Army knife and said, "This time we'll carve our way along the wall, then we'll know where to turn."

"Good." Shi Tou and Zhu Bao Zi replied in unison.

All the way, I felt that the military knife hadn't changed direction at all, but we walked back and saw that the stone room was unchanged. I didn't say a word, turned my head to stare at the mark left by the military knife, and started walking step by step. But the scratch remained straight and never changed direction. Maybe I walked too fast and didn't notice the stones. When I arrived at the stone room again, the stones and Zhu Baozi were all gone, empty and desolate in front of and behind me, with only one person left - me. A sense of fear of being abandoned filled my heart.

"Stones, stones," I shouted twice but no one answered. I hastily walked back into the corridor, whether Zhu Baozi was dead or not didn't matter, I couldn't lose the stone! Just as I took a couple of steps out, I suddenly heard the sound of the stone behind me "Lin Miao"

I turned back, and Zhu Baozi and Shi Tou had already appeared at the stone room door, hastily walking back to ask "Where did you go?"

The stone also looked a bit anxious and said "I was worried about you too, walking along and suddenly you disappeared!"

Zhu Pangzi looked around the room and suddenly turned his head to me, saying "Mr. Lin, do you think all the stone rooms connected by this corridor are the same, but coincidentally only the first stone room has an oil lamp on the table?"

"How come they're all lit up?" Shi Tou asked faintly.

"Maybe it's just a coincidence?" Zhu Baozi's voice grew softer and softer, possibly this reason he himself did not even believe.

I walked up to a skeleton, kicked his helmet under the table and said "Keep going! See where the next stone room's helmet is?"

The scratches are still there, and no one has noticed who took a detour. But looking at the stone chamber in front of us, we still feel a chill running down our spines. The helmet is quietly lying under the table. The oil lamp in Shi Tou's hand had also gone out. Zhu Bao walked over, picked up the oil lamp on the dressing table and said, "Don't be stunned, let's keep moving!"

Once, twice, we walked for almost an hour, I don't know how many times, but the outcome was always the same. Now the three of us sat lazily on the ground, Zhu Baozi smoking the cigarette I handed him, said angrily "Damn it, hopefully it's useful, hopefully it's just to make you desperate."

I didn't have time to bother with him, and now I feel like he's like a "henpecked husband", lazily blowing smoke rings and looking around. Just as the smoke ring floated in front of my eyes, I suddenly saw a long-haired woman sitting in front of the dresser combing her hair, or maybe it was a long-haired female ghost, with waist-length black hair and a white outfit, which scared me so much that I immediately got up, covered in cold sweat. I had a feeling that the long-haired person I saw in the first passageway and the thief's hole was her. But after the smoke ring dissipated, I couldn't see anything again.

Noticing my abnormality, the stone pushed me and asked "What's wrong?"

With a loud thud, I swallowed a big mouthful of saliva and said in terror, "It's the ghost hitting the wall, it's the ghost hitting the wall."

Zhu Baozi also sat up straight and licked his lips, saying "No wonder I couldn't get out."

"What can't I see?" Shi Tou said, looking around in all directions.

I pointed with my hand at the dresser and said "It's right there."

The stone shook its head "Can't see."

Zhu Baozi took out a Buddha statue from his neck and said, "Try it with this."

In desperation, I couldn't think of any other way out, so I took the Buddha statue from Zhu Baozi's hand and said "Let's go together!" After saying that, I pulled Zhu Baozi up, holding the Buddha statue with both hands, and slowly moved forward step by step. With each step, my heart skipped a beat, cold sweat flowed down to my boots, and my legs started trembling uncontrollably.

I walked to the dresser and shouted "Ah!" to give myself courage, holding the Buddha statue and pressing it down, all the way until it was pressed onto the stone chair. I was so tense that I was gasping for breath, like a person who had been drenched in water, with sweat dripping profusely onto the ground.

"How is it?" asked Zhu Baozi on the side.

I shook my head and said "I don't know."

"How did you see it just now?" Zhu Baozi asked again.

"Smoke rings, just now when the smoke ring floated in front of my eyes, that's what I saw." As soon as I finished speaking, Shi Tou and Zhu Baozi blew a mouthful of smoke into my eyes, making my tears flow out instantly.

"Damn it, can't you two give me a heads up?" I cursed, rubbing my eyes.

"Take a look and see if there's anything left," Shi Tou said.

I took a look and found that nothing was left, my face lit up with joy, and I jumped up excitedly saying "Zhū Pàngzi, this thing is really useful!"

Zhu Pangzi also relaxed and patted his chest, saying "Let's go, leave this place quickly."

The three of us rushed into the corridor, but soon we looked like we had eaten a pile of shit, our faces as ugly as possible. We walked back again. I frowned at Zhu Baozi and said, "What the hell is this?"

"Cut it out, this is genuine rhinoceros horn."

  "What's up?" I asked again.

  "Rhino horn!"

"Good, great," I said with a delighted face, taking out a lighter and burning the Buddha statue.

"What's wrong?" Zhu Baozi said discontentedly.

I continued to burn it, saying "The smoke produced by the rhinoceros horn can see dirty things." Through the smoke produced by the burning rhinoceros horn, I saw that there was indeed nothing on the dresser. Just as I was wondering, I suddenly heard the stone speak "On the bed," and turned my head to see long hair and white clothes, still combing her hair. Although I had seen it once before and had mentally prepared myself, I still felt a chill run down my spine.

"Are you saying it's facing us or with its back to us?" Zhu Baozi asked in a trembling voice.

I gave him a white eye, such a stupid question was asked, saying "Can't you see? Of course it's facing us."

"But, but... " Zhu Baozi raised his hand and spat out saliva, saying "It seems to have no face!"

I took a closer look, and my head buzzed with a sound, just like Zhu Baozi said. Although it was facing us, the place where its face should have been was actually the back of its head. At this moment, I suddenly remembered that when I saw it in the copper mirror earlier, it was also facing us, but instead of showing its face, the mirror only reflected the back of its head.

"It doesn't have a face?" Shi Tou said in puzzlement.

"My goodness, it's actually a ghost hitting another ghost." I whispered, licking my lips.

"Ghost hitting ghost?" Zhu Baozi thought for a moment "What does it mean?"

"It means that even ghosts would rest and leave this place." At this moment, suddenly feeling disheartened, he lazily explained to them: "Ghost hitting the wall is a situation where people are trapped in the same place, walking back and forth endlessly, until they die. Of course, the 'ghost' mentioned here refers to a kind of ghostly thing formed by the heavy yin energy and darkness of a place, which cannot be seen by human eyes but will not attack humans. However, 'ghost hitting ghost' is different, it must be that the person was sacrificed before death, then their corpse was placed in a dark cave, covered with a yin-yang mirror or similar object to form a ghostly entity that can attack people."

"What's to be done in the end?" Zhu asked me, looking at me.

I thought for a moment and turned to the stone and said "Stone, is there glutinous rice in the backpack?"

  "The stone nodded, 'Not many.'"

I held out my hand "Give it to me."

I didn't think I'd ever enter an ancient tomb, and the glutinous rice was only for warding off evil spirits. Who would have thought it would actually come in handy? I divided the glutinous rice into three portions and handed them to Zhu Bajie and Shi Tou, saying "Use blood to dye the rice red, then we'll surround it and throw the dyed rice onto its body."

"Does it work well?" Zhu Baozi asked, dabbing some rice on his wound.

"I don't know." I had no idea, so I just waved my hand and said "Let's go." We split into three directions and walked towards the stone bed. When we got to the side, they both looked at me and asked "What's up?"

At this time, I was the only one holding a lit rhinoceros horn. I saw it still sitting in the middle of the bed, nodding its head and saying "Now, the middle of the bed." After finishing speaking, it suddenly threw out, and the speed of the stone and Zhu Biaozi was not slow either. I saw a burst of white smoke emerging from its body, and then it quickly floated up and directly disappeared into the roof.

"How is it?" Shi Tou and Zhu Bao Zi asked together.

I smiled slightly and said "It's gone, it's gone."

"That's great, let's get out of here quickly." Zhu Baozi pulled me.

"Let's go," we three ran all the way, and I always had a bad feeling in my heart. Was it really that easy to be driven away?
