Chapter 16: Ghost Hits the Wall?

Volume 1: Ancient Tombs of Jin Country Chapter 18: Ghostly Wall?

This zombie is different from the mummy I blew up earlier. A mummy is basically just a bag of skin and bones, so even if it's facing us head-on, it's not hard to kill. But this zombie in front of us looks like a person who has been skinned, you can still see the muscle fibers, its eyes are just white, as if there are no eyeballs, its hair is short and stands upright, its teeth are sharp and long like those of a wild beast, its face is ferocious and terrifying. This is what people usually refer to as a zombie. Fortunately, its skin is also brown, if it were a red blood corpse, we would be done for.

Zhu Pangzi raised his hand and fired two shots, but the zombie only had two holes in its chest and took a step back, with no other reaction. Moreover, I suddenly discovered that several zombies with pottery shards on their bodies were jumping over from a distance. But what's even more terrifying is the sound of shattered pottery figurines, which kept ringing out. Although I knew most of the sounds were caused by empty pottery figurines being knocked down by the zombies, every time I heard one, my heart tightened a little.

"Run quickly." I shouted, Zhu Baozi squeezed through the opened door crack, I pulled the stone and ran, when I was about to squeeze through the door crack, I saw a zombie pounce on the stone, pushing it to one side of the door crack. Then all I could see was the flashlight's bright light changing positions constantly.

"Stone," I shouted and was about to rush out, but was held back by Zhu Baozi. Zhu Baozi whispered in my ear, "Don't be crazy, you can only make things worse for him if you go out." At this moment, a gunshot rang out, followed by the disappearance of the flashlight, and then the sound of footsteps came over. Zhu Baozi let go of me, raised his hand to fire, I was shocked in my heart, what if Stone is coming? So I immediately grabbed Zhu Baozi's arm and lifted it up, and with a loud bang, the gun fired at the shed.

"Don't shoot, it's me." It was indeed Shi Tou's voice.

"Hey, it's little brother, I thought it was a zombie!" Zhu Baozi said with a hint of apology, but I felt that Zhu Baozi should also know that the one running over is Shi Tou, and he probably still has the intention to kill us.

"Run fast, they're coming!" Shi Tou said anxiously. My night vision device had long been lost, Zhu Bao Zi's was also gone, only Shi Tou still had one, I grabbed onto Shi Tou's clothes, Zhu Bao Zi grabbed onto mine, forming a line as we frantically ran inside. Suddenly I remembered I still had my flashlight, so I immediately started rummaging through my pockets. Zhu Bao Zi probably felt me reaching into my pants and casually asked "What are you looking for?"

"Oh no, I just remembered I have a flashlight."

"Really? Bring it out quickly!" Zhu Baozi was probably also fed up with this unenlightened environment.

I took it out and turned it on, shining it on Zhu Bao's face. His expression changed, as if he had drunk vinegar, and he cursed, "Damn you, that thing can also be called a flashlight."

"The lighter on your wrist, you want it to shine brighter." I smiled and teased him, the feeling was still pretty good.

Zhu Baozi didn't have time to bother with me and anxiously said "How can this group of zombies run so fast?"

"Maybe Bolt in a zombie!" I said with a laugh.

"You're really bold." Zhu Baozi shook his head helplessly.

I'm also very nervous, but if I didn't crack a joke or two, I'm afraid I wouldn't even have the energy to run. Behind you, there's a group of zombies less than ten meters away, how can you not be nervous?

I waved the flashlight around and suddenly saw a corridor leading to the right not far in front of me, so I hastily shouted "Stone, turn right!" I was hoping that the zombies hadn't seen us turning and would continue chasing after us, but what made me disappointed was that they didn't take many steps before also turning around.

"Damn, you're a traitor! It's a dead end ahead." Zhu Baozi cursed. I was also feeling chilly in my heart, and indeed, there was a wall in front of us. Which bastard designed this dead end to trap people?

"Not right, there's a way." The stone suddenly spoke up, then grabbed me and Zhu Baozi and leaned back, suddenly empty behind us, we didn't know where we fell. I used my flashlight to take a look around and could roughly see that it was a stone room, or rather a bedroom. The furnishings inside were all complete, the bed, table, chairs, boards, and stools were all carved out of stone, while some decorative items like curtains were made of copper, the pottery and jade inside hadn't been touched by anyone, the stone gate we came in through had already been sealed shut by falling rocks.

I pulled out a cigarette that had been crushed and lit it up, smiling wryly as I said "Damn it, looks like we're going to be trapped in here to death."

Zhu Pangzi panted a few times and said "Give me one!"

I casually tossed him a cigarette and lit it for him, then sat down on the ground with a thud, saying to Zhu Baozi, "I'm asking you, Zhu Baozi, what exactly did you come here to steal?"

Zhu Baozi replied, "I don't know anything!"

One second, two seconds,... thirty seconds, no one spoke, only the sound of spitting smoke, finally Zhu Baozi couldn't help but ask "Do you believe what I said?"

  "I believe."

"Do you believe it?" Zhu Pangzi looked at me with some surprise.

I threw away the cigarette butt in my hand and cursed, "Damn it, I believe one plus one equals two, why should I believe you!"

"Alright, since we're going to die together anyway, I'll tell you - they're looking for a copper rabbit."

I was stunned for a moment, then cursed, "Damn it, you got it wrong! Why didn't you tell me to make a bronze rabbit and send it to you? Why come here looking for trouble?"

Zhu Pangzi waved his hand, "It's different, I won't tell you, even if I did, you wouldn't understand." After finishing speaking, he lay down calmly, as if this wasn't a gloomy ancient tomb, but rather his bedroom.

I patted the stone and said "Change places?"

  "What's up?"

I curled my lip and said "I'd rather die than be his neighbor."

The stone smiled and said, "Stop messing around, come and light this."

"What's this?" I casually asked, and when I turned on the flashlight, I saw two candles that had been crushed.

  "What's wrong with you?"

"Take advantage of Songtian's inattention and put it in his pocket."

I hastily lit the candles, and it felt great to have some light. Zhu Baozi also sat up and looked around, saying "Hey, look at this place, there are oil lamps everywhere." He pointed with his hands to the ones on the bedside table, the desk, and several standing around the room.

I suddenly remembered that the man-eating ants were still around, and Liu Ran's body would be reduced to bones in just a few seconds. I quickly waved my hand and said, "There shouldn't be any fragrance here, I'm afraid of attracting the man-eating ants."

The stone got up, picked up the oil lamp on the table and sniffed it, saying "it should be fine", and then lit them all up. This made the stone room bright too. I don't know how the ancient tomb was set up, but the ventilation must have been good, as I didn't feel a lack of oxygen after being in there for so long.

"We're not doing too bad, it looks like a big girl's room." Zhu Baozi said with a smirk. From the arrangement of the interior decorations and the presence of a dresser, it was indeed a woman's residence. If it weren't for the dozens of skeletal remains scattered on the ground, it would be quite cozy.

"This group of Tang Dynasty soldiers came in, why didn't they move the things inside?" Zhu Baozi asked again. This is also what I couldn't understand, from the fact that the things were moved out of the upper chamber, they shouldn't have left these even more valuable things here!

"There's a road!" The stone suddenly pointed in the direction directly opposite the dresser.

I turned to Zhu Baozi and saw that there was indeed a corridor leading outside. Zhu Baozi burst out laughing, saying "Heaven will not cut off the path for people!" At this moment, we didn't even have time to rest, so we picked up the oil lamp on the table and lit it, then walked into the corridor.

After walking for more than five minutes, they came to another stone chamber.

"Huh? How is it still a stone room?"

After walking in, the three of us were stunned to find that it was still the stone room we had just walked through. The position of the bones on the ground hadn't changed, and there really wasn't an oil lamp on the table anymore.

"Damn it, how are we going back?" Zhu Baozi's eyebrows were tightly locked.

"Could it be that we didn't notice and walked back to some place?" Shi Tou thought for a moment before asking.

  I nodded "It's possible."

The stone tore its clothes into strips, tied them together, and handed them to me, saying "I'll walk ahead, you guys follow behind and pull on this rope. If the rope tilts to one side, remind me."

I took the clothes handed over by Shi Tou, nodded and said "good". After that, the three of us walked back into the corridor. Along the way, I stared at Shi Tou's clothes tightly, which were still tight and didn't wrinkle at all.

  Five minutes later.

"Damn it, how did you come back again?" I couldn't help but curse.
