Chapter 10: Mr. Ling Huan
Human nature is more terrifying than zombies.
When the zombies were no longer a threat, she became the threat.
Luò Kě never thought that one day those people she saved would point their weapons at her.
Her gaze swept across the familiar and unfamiliar faces, many of whom she had rescued from the mouths of zombies, but now they were looking at her with contemptuous and disgusted expressions.
Luoke suddenly felt a little disheartened. After the base was established, she was busy searching for survivors. When the base lacked supplies, she alone ventured into the city to search for them. She had long forgotten her identity as a monster, but those people still remembered it.
When their lives were threatened and they needed her protection, they chose to ignore her identity and enjoyed the supplies she had brought back with great difficulty. When the zombies were about to be eliminated, they remembered her monster identity again.
Lu Ke was thoroughly disappointed with these people, but what comforted her was that the child she had raised single-handedly stood in front of her, which was enough, at least someone remembered and appreciated everything she had paid for.
Luò kě left the base alone, Jié lǐ was human after all, and it wasn't worth being an enemy of humanity for her sake.
Luò Kě never thought he would return in such a way.
Her physical functions slowly decayed, until she no longer had the strength to move her fingers, and she lay in the desolate desert, slowly losing her breath.
A strong wind howled and rolled up a vast expanse of yellow sand, her already stiff body was buried in the yellow sand, and no trace could be seen.
As he opened his eyes to see the familiar ceiling, Luo Ke's mind was a bit dazed. Unconsciously, he raised his hand, not the sharp claws of a beast, but a pair of human hands.
Lu Ke excitedly got up and ran to the bathroom, and when she saw the familiar yet strange face in the mirror, she couldn't help but burst into tears.
She finally came back.
After being in the Resident Evil world for over a decade, Luo Ke felt somewhat unaccustomed to the throngs of people rushing to and fro on the streets.
Those vivid lives and memories formed a stark contrast with those lifeless zombies.
It's great to be alive.
A cheerful Luo Ke even when faced with the company's old man's deliberate difficulties, still had a smiling face, leaving that maliciously difficult woman stunned and standing there.
In Luo Ke's view, compared to that world full of zombies, his colleague's petty annoyances were nothing.
Luoke's good mood lasted until night, lying on the soft bed, Luoke took a deep breath and said goodnight to himself before falling asleep.
Luco woke up again to find herself trapped in a small container. In that instant, Luco realized she had returned to the Umbrella Corporation's laboratory once more. Panicked and disoriented, Luco hastily stretched out her hand, and upon seeing it was human, she let out a long sigh of relief.
If she had to go through it all again, she would definitely go crazy.
Her current name is Xiaobao, a little demon raised by a Taoist priest.
After learning about her own identity, Luo Ke felt very annoyed. First, she was a foodie, and now she's a little ghost. Can't she have a normal identity for once?
And can this Taoist priest who is skilled in deceiving people really have a future?
Just thinking about her daily work of scaring people with Da Bao, Luo Ke feels very sad, but she has no way to change it. The current situation has completely overturned her worldview. At least the last Slurper had some scientific explanation, but now it directly jumps to the mysterious and unexplainable realm of the Heartwalkers, what's going on?
"Xiao Bao, what's wrong with you? Are you hungry? I have some snacks here, why don't you eat a little something to fill your stomach?"
With a silly and cute face, Da Bao looked at Luo Ke who was squatting in the corner, thinking that she was hungry, so he quickly took his own fragrant rice balls and walked over to hand them to her.
Luò Kě looked at the incense ingot in Dà Bǎo's hand with a tangled expression, wanting to take it away with great determination, but his stomach was very hungry, what to do? Do ghosts eat this kind of thing?
Reclining on the ground with a full stomach and a satisfied expression, Luo Ke looked at Da Bao's silly face and asked: "Da Bao, why do we have to follow Ming Shu?"
Luō Kě asked this question after thinking for a long time. Based on her observations over the past few days, Dà Bǎo's personality belongs to the silly and cute type. Moreover, since her current body is that of Dà Bǎo's younger brother, he would tell her anything she asks.
"Hey, we're just lonely spirits, unable to enter the underworld. If it weren't for Ming Shu taking us in, one of two things would have happened: either we'd be beaten by Taoist priests until our souls scatter, or we'd be caught and eaten by stronger ghosts."
"Although Uncle Ming looks a bit unreliable, his heart is actually not bad."
Luò Kě's evaluation of Dà Bǎo was noncommittal, in her opinion, Míng Shū took them in with the intention of using them to cheat and swindle money.
If it were really for their own good, Ming Shu would have helped them ascend long ago. Why would he lock them in the umbrella and deceive them out of money?
Uh... thinking of Ming Shu's behavior, Luo Ke's mouth twitched, perhaps she had wronged that guy, just relying on his half-bottle vinegar-like Taoist skills to transcend them was already a ghostly feat.
As they spoke, Uncle Ming's face returned with a slight smile, he opened the yellow paper umbrella with the attached talisman and gestured to them.
"Hurry up and come in, we're about to start work. Give it your all, and if we can get the silver done today, I'll treat you guys to roasted chicken."
Luò Kě pouted, this guy always says that, but the result is that most of the roasted chicken ends up in his mouth, leaving only a little residue for them. And it's always Dà Bǎo, that stupid guy, who gets cheated every time and follows him with a foolish grin.
But even if she was unwilling, she couldn't resist the power of the talisman on the paper umbrella. Her body transformed into a stream of light and was sucked into the umbrella.
Crouching in the small umbrella, Luo Ke's whole body was wrapped in thick resentment. If she had the chance, she would definitely stuff Ming Shu into the umbrella and let him taste this feeling.
Walking on the road at night will eventually encounter ghosts.
Ming Shu had always been lucky before, encountering only some incompetent little ghosts that he couldn't handle, but Da Bao and Xiao Bao could get rid of them. This time, however, he was extremely unlucky to run into a group of capable ghosts.
