Chapter Twelve

  Chapter Twelve

As I indulged in my wild thoughts, the sun outside had gradually set behind the mountains. The current time was probably around 6 or 7 o'clock. The soldiers guarding us were still outside the tent. In fact, now wasn't the best time to escape, but there was no more time to wait. Once the truth serum arrived, Mountain Bear and I would be doomed...

Wake up the still sleeping mountain bear in a low voice "Uh... what time is it?" This guy thought he was at home.

"It's dark now, don't wake up that woman yet, lest something goes wrong."

It seems that "En" also supports his own suggestion.

"When the enemy tied us up with plastic handcuffs, you were strong and rested for a while to see if you could break free." Try it out, maybe you can succeed.

The only sound near my ear was the faint breathing of that woman when she slept. After a while, the bear's apologetic voice sounded "No way, this thing is too evil, it'll get stuck in the flesh if you use force." Ah... I can only think of other ways now.

Look at the table 3 meters away from me, nodding in resignation, really not letting myself be at ease. Because it's a land, I can absorb a lot of sounds, and my stool isn't fixed to the ground, so there's still a chance. Suddenly... two times... three times... I'm carrying my stool and making an effort to jump towards the table. Closer, closer, just a little bit more. Exhausted from jumping in front of the table, I'm already sweating profusely, with sweat dripping down from my forehead, and the wounds at the corners of my eyes and mouth are stinging from the sweat.

Lowering his head, he bit into the dagger that had been casually thrown onto the table by the enemy and with great effort, jumped back up. He didn't know when the enemy would come back or if the guard standing at the door would have any thoughts of coming in to take a look and putting those thoughts into action. All he knew was that he had to make an effort to jump to the side of the mountain bear and cut open the plastic handcuffs binding him.

Finally, I jumped to his side and bowed my head, using the dagger in my mouth to pry open the handcuffs binding his right hand. Immediately, a large hand took over the dagger that was almost bitten out of my teeth. A few seconds later, the plastic handcuffs on me were also opened. Exhausted, I fell into the bear's arms and looked up to see his concerned eyes. I nodded at him to tell him I'm fine. Then, the two of us walked to the table in front and started silently putting on our equipment. Fortunately, almost all of our equipment was there. Unfortunately, our communication device had been taken away - that was what we used to contact headquarters. We would have to wait until the young lady got tired of playing and used her connections to call a helicopter to come pick us up.

I put on my equipment and signaled the mountain bear to wake up our big sister, while I walked to the front of the tent and lightly stabbed a hole with my dagger to observe the enemy's camp from here.

This should be a temporary resting place for the enemy. Outside, people come and go, but very few make any noise, and there are no vehicles at all. 'They must have hitched a ride to the nearest place and then walked up here, right? Are they preparing to raid the station?' He thought to himself as he looked outside. The mountain road is extremely difficult to walk on, with many trees, making it almost impossible for vehicles to move around. And aircraft would be detected by the station's anti-aircraft radar. Looking at how well-equipped they are, they should be some kind of special forces unit.

"Ahhh~~~~" A sharp cry interrupted his daydream. From that hole, almost everyone could be seen running over here. 'Really don't know what's wrong with this mountain bear.'

Without saying a word, he turned around and threw the dagger into the neck of the sentinel who was checking on them. He took a glance at the dark figure, it was hard to see his movements in the darkness, but he knew that he was about to shoot the woman who had betrayed them again. "Halt!!" He rushed over quickly to stop him from firing.

"Why won't you just get rid of this cheap woman? Every time it's her causing trouble on one side." The mountain bear thought to raise his gun in anger again.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to. I thought you were enemies and it's so dark here..." She apologized in a timid tone.

"Women shut up, no interest in listening to your apology." She casually tossed the gun at her and saw that she was pressed by the weight of the gun. "Why did you stop the mountain bear just now?"

"Let's go, the enemy is about to arrive. They should have night vision equipment, hurry up and leave here before they come over. If they do, we'll all be out of luck." As he spoke, he had already tossed one backpack from the table to Shan Xiong and slung another onto his own back. He quickly walked over to the corner of the tent and used a dagger to cut open a large hole, through which could be seen the dark forest outside. If we can make it there, we'll have a chance to escape...

"You guys go ahead, I'm not moving. Take this, it's my ID card, remember to turn it in for me." As we escaped, Shan Xiong's leg was hit by a bullet, but he was lucky and the bullet just grazed him, taking away a big chunk of flesh from his leg.

He didn't take the ID card handed over to him, but instead found a tree stump and gently put it down. The people chasing behind are now temporarily shaken off by us. Looking at the mountain bear panting there, let Gao Lan take care of him, he himself walked to a small hillside and used a sniper mirror to monitor whether there were enemies coming from behind.

"We should let him cover for us." The voice that could make my rationality disappear came again, "He can't go far and you and I can still get out. He can divert the pursuers for us." Because I was lying on the hillside at the moment, she behind me didn't see my expression, thinking I agreed, started to tempt me with benefits to betray my brother, "My family is very rich, when we go back, you and Mountain Bear can get a lot of money. I will write a special report for you and strive for first-class honors for you and him..."

"Damn..." Unable to bear it any longer, he turned around and kicked her down the hill. Watching her roll away, by the time she was about to get up, his shotgun was already pressed against her nose. The mountain bear beside him was stunned by his actions.

"Kestrel, weren't you going to take her out? Why did you change your mind again?"

"This scoundrel, I'm telling you, would rather have me abandon my own brother and leave him to die alone than kill me right now."

She was already frightened stiff and then continued to seduce us to fight for her life "Why don't we stay together? There are not many people chasing after us, with the two of you, it should be easy to eliminate them."

Casually bring our backpacks over and take them out one by one in front of her "Your tent, your makeup, your spare clothes, your sleeping bag, your..." Looking at her puzzled eyes, I heard her words next to my ear, which made my anger start to explode.

"It's very normal, I usually carry more than this when going out. What does it have to do with you guys not being able to eliminate others?"

"There's only our sleeping bags in the backpack, ours, I still have 15 sniper rifle bullets, 4 clips of 15 handgun bullets, and finally 2 shotgun shells or large caliber deer slugs."

"What's the big deal? Deer hunting is very effective!"

"Do you know what the enemy is wearing? Bulletproof vests!!! Got it?! It's the latest model of bulletproof vest. I was going to bring armor-piercing rounds, but you stupid woman insisted that I bring hunting rounds. What's the point of hitting them with those?! You're not making any sense! Are you trying to say that my other bullets are useless? Yes, I have plenty of other bullets. 15 caliber sniper rounds, at least 14 handgun rounds... But do you understand?! The ones chasing us are special forces! Do you know what special forces mean?! They also have snipers! I'm the one who can take out their snipers in an instant! The others are just standing there watching! In the jungle, sniper rifles are useless. Handgun bullets are plentiful... I haven't even charged over yet and they're already riddled with holes. Mountain Bear, how many do you have left?"

"When I came out, I brought 4 magazines with 5 rounds each. Now there are only 2 left. The pistol still has 2 clips left." The mountain bear that was startled by my roar began to count its own ammunition and got an answer that even it couldn't accept.

"What did you say? I didn't quite catch it..."

"Where's your gun?" She didn't even finish her sentence before cutting herself off.

  "My wallet is lost."

"In extreme anger, I can only say this."

"But if you can safely take me out, my father will be very grateful to you. You can get a lot of rewards. I know you don't love money, but my father has a wide range of connections and you can get the medals you've always dreamed of. My father is..."

"Shut up, woman! We're not interested in knowing who your father is, nor are we interested in getting your bonus or medal. Got it?" He grabbed her and lifted her up by the collar of her shirt, slamming her against the trunk of a tree behind her. A centipede slowly crawled across her face...

"Ahh~~~~ Please let me down! It's coming!" The woman finally saw what I wanted her to see, and immediately there was a piercing scream.

BOOM! Before he could finish his sentence, the sound of Mountain Bear's gunfire interrupted him. He casually threw the woman to the ground and picked up a shotgun leaning against the wall. BOOM! A single shot hit one guy right in the face at close range, embedding all the pellets into his face. As the guy with a terrifying blood hole on his face fell down, he rolled away just in time to avoid the incoming bullets. "Mountain Bear can't move" flashed through his mind as he charged towards the remaining two people under the cover of Mountain Bear's machine gun fire. While rushing over, he reloaded his shotgun and fired again - BOOM! The guy in front of him was hit by the massive force of the pellets, even though they didn't penetrate his bulletproof vest, and was knocked back a great distance. As he turned to deal with the other guy, Mountain Bear's machine gun had already turned him into Swiss cheese. Ignoring the fallen men, he sprinted at top speed towards the guy he had previously shot and blown away - BOOM! He fired again, and the guy on the ground now also had a massive blood hole in his head. The battle was over; they had taken out 5 people, with him taking down 2 and Mountain Bear's machine gun taking down 3. "Looks like their orders were to take us alive."

"There's only one drum left, and it's also empty." The mountain bear said weakly as he casually dismantled the empty drum and threw it aside, taking out the last drum from his body and putting it on.

"Evil... evil..." The woman who saw the corpse for the first time had already knelt down and started vomiting.

"Come over and take a look, this is war, not a game in your backyard! Kids should go home and play house!!" He dragged the woman who was kneeling on one side and vomiting directly to the corpse with a smashed head. Looking at her vomiting even more fiercely, he really didn't know if what he did was right or wrong, really didn't know.

"Let her be for now. I'll start searching the enemy corpses for usable equipment. 'Rifle's got fingerprints, check if the infrared goggles are still working...'"

"You noticed that guy earlier, there were two people, one came up and you blew his head off along with the rest of him. The other guy got knocked flying and I thought you were going to go pick him up, but nope, you just went ahead and blew his head off too. Great job, real great."

"Heh heh~~" With a dry laugh, I could only resign myself to starting to search the corpses for other items. I only managed to find two handguns because of different calibers, so the bullets and the ones on my body weren't compatible. I casually tossed one of the guns to Shan Xiong and threw him a few clips that I had found... As I was searching the corpses, I suddenly saw that one of them had an antenna sticking out of his back. "Shan Xiong, it looks like they were scattered around searching for us. I don't know if we should say we're lucky or they're unlucky. This team just so happened to be in charge of communication... They have individual radios..."
