Chapter 28:10 - The Ambush of 200 Men (1)

  The enemy's artillery fire changed the original plan, and they started firing one to two shells every three to five meters from left to right. This resulted in many shells landing near the team members, causing seven or eight casualties from flying rocks and shrapnel.

  One shell landed on a team member, covering him in blood and flesh. This greatly weakened the Tiger Team's combat effectiveness, while the enemy's attack was faster than ever before. The artillery fire had not stopped when the infantry charged into the 100-meter zone.

  "Fire!" However, despite all the warriors wanting to grow multiple arms to hold more guns, it was impossible.

  The enemy charged forward with an unimaginable speed and a daredevil spirit, quickly breaking through the 50-meter zone and entering the 30-meter zone. If the Tiger Team did not retreat, they would have to engage in close combat.

  "Are these enemies crazy?" Li Fei asked Tian Hu, looking at one who had been shot and was still crawling forward.

  Tian Hu did not have time to answer Li Fei's question and immediately ordered: "Pass down the order, everyone throw all their hand grenades, then quickly retreat from the position and head towards the fork in the road to find Guo Yinan's team."

  Li Fei wanted to ask again but saw Tian Hu's serious expression and did not dare speak. He received the order and quickly ran to each defensive point to pass it down.

  The team members received the order and immediately threw all their hand grenades at the enemy. For a moment, it was like hail falling on the enemy's heads. The explosions instantly covered up all other sounds, with only the continuous "boom" echoing.

  The enemy's momentum was finally suppressed.

  "Retreat!" Tian Hu shouted.

  Only Tian Hu, Li Fei, and Ha Ernai were left to lead a dozen or so machine guns against the enemy. The enemy had lost dozens of bodies in their two frenzied charges but still had over 200 men. This battle would be unprecedentedly tragic.

  Li Fei wanted to advise Tian Hu to retreat as well, but seeing him clench his teeth and stare at the enemy, he did not dare speak up.

  Ha Ernai had changed from originally looking down on Tian Hu and opposing his command to now being the most admiring of Tian Hu. Since Tian Hu had not ordered them to retreat, Ha Ernai stood still in his position, observing the enemy's movements and waiting for Tian Hu's new orders.

  The enemy seemed to be stunned by the Tiger Team's sudden grenade attack and did not know how to counterattack for a moment.

  "Is that an English army facing us? It seems like a well-trained army; we should be careful," a Japanese lieutenant said.

  "I looked at their uniforms and appearance earlier, but I couldn't see any British people. Instead, they seemed to have Chinese features, as well as those of the local Malay people," another lieutenant said.
