Chapter 40: The Alley Battle Filled with Danger (2)
Hahn Eid quickly finished speaking and raised his gun to look at the rooftop across from them.
"Rat-a-tat-tat..." A burst of machine gun fire erupted from the rooftop, hitting the building where Li Fei and Hahn Eid were hiding. Mud and wood splinters flew everywhere.
Li Fei and Hahn Eid hastily dove onto the floorboards.
"This guy has really gone up to the roof," Li Fei said to Hahn Eid. "Can you take care of them?"
"I can only see a head, I don't know how to hit it," Hahn Eid replied.
Wood splinters from the ceiling fell down on Li Fei and Hahn Eid as they were being shot at.
"I also can't see the enemy on the other side," Li Fei said. "What should we do? Can we only take a beating or be suppressed by their firepower?"
Hahn Eid pointed downwards with his hand, saying, "Tianhu seems to have disappeared."
Li Fei moved to the railing and looked down through the gap in the wooden boards. Indeed, he didn't see Tianhu, but only Mawa standing guard at the door.
"Where did Tianhu go?" Li Fei asked.
"I don't know," Hahn Eid replied.
"In that direction, look!" Li Fei suddenly saw Tianhu running to the rooftop across the street, quietly climbing up from a pillar. He excitedly called out to Hahn Eid.
"Li Fei, you see, that enemy is aiming at Tianhu with his gun! What should we do? I'm at an angle where I can't hit him, how about your angle?"
"I also can't make it," Li Fei replied. "What should we do? Should we quickly warn Tianhu to be careful?"
"No way, that would expose Tianhu even more!" Hahn Eid exclaimed.
"But what about the enemy..." Li Fei trailed off.
Just as they were frantically thinking of a solution, a sudden gunshot made them jump in surprise, and they thought the enemy had shot at Tianhu. They both cried out "It's over!" and quickly looked at Tianhu.
To their surprise, Tianhu had already climbed onto the rooftop and was approaching the enemy machine gunner.
Li Fei and Hahn Eid hastily turned to look at the Japanese soldier who had been aiming at Tianhu earlier. The soldier now lay on the ground with a pool of blood under his head.
Li Fei and Hahn Eid let out a sigh of relief, looking through the gap in the wooden boards to see Mawa's gun barrel still smoking. They finally understood that it was Mawa who had fired the shot.
"This Mawa is really terrifying," Hahn Eid said to Li Fei. "She only shoots at people's heads, and they all die with one bullet. If you were the enemy, what would you think?"
"I would think of a way to marry her and make her my wife," Li Fei replied with a grin, winking at Hahn Eid. "That way, she would protect me instead of killing me."
"If you married her, you wouldn't be able to rest easy day or night," Hahn Eid said.
"Why?" Li Fei asked.
"Because if you made her unhappy, she would shoot you with a single bullet, right between the eyes. You'd be worried all the time, always on edge."
