Chapter 20: Rescue of the Overseas Chinese (1)
"Everyone, this is Tianhu, who led the third front line in Singapore and defeated the Japanese Navy's Sixth Fleet and Lieutenant Colonel Yamada's infantry battalion. He has arrived from Singapore by sea to join our team."
The room erupted in applause as everyone welcomed Tianhu.
After the applause died down, Guo Yinan continued with the meeting. "We need to discuss how to rescue the thousands of overseas Chinese being held captive in New Mountain."
Someone asked, "But where will we hide them? The Japanese devils are everywhere."
Guo Yinan replied, "We must first consider what to do after we rescue them. We can't just think about it now and not have a plan."
A team member suggested, "Why don't we occupy New Mountain and fight the Japanese devils to the end?"
Guo Yinan shook his head. "That's not feasible. The Japanese have a whole regiment in Keelung, and if they come to New Mountain, our few dozen people, plus the rescued overseas Chinese, will be no match for their machine guns and artillery. We need to preserve our strength."
He proposed an alternative plan: "We'll prepare several ships, rescue the overseas Chinese, and then immediately set sail for Kota Kinabalu. From there, we'll enter the mountains and harass the Japanese devils until our team grows stronger and better equipped. Then, we can come out of the mountains and drive the Japanese devils away."
The team members agreed with Guo Yinan's plan, and they decided to carry out the rescue mission that night.
As night fell, the Japanese concentration camp in New Mountain was shrouded in darkness, but the guards were on high alert.
Guo Yinan divided the team into three groups. "Tianhu, you lead your small team from the left side. I'll go from the middle. Don't engage in a firefight; our main goal is to rescue the people."
Tianhu led his team of ten to the left side of the Japanese guard post.
One of the team members scouted ahead and reported back to Tianhu, "There are about six enemies, all with rifles."
Tianhu said, "We can take them down easily. Let's go!"
The Japanese soldiers were caught off guard, and Tianhu's team quickly took out the guards.
They then entered the concentration camp, opened the gates, and freed the captive overseas Chinese.
Meanwhile, Guo Yinan and the right-side team also successfully infiltrated the camp, and the three teams converged to escort the rescued overseas Chinese towards the coast.
As they finished their mission, Guo Yinan waved at Tianhu and said, "Let's hurry up and leave. The Japanese devils will be here soon."
Tianhu replied, "You take them to the ship first. I'll bring my team to gather some guns and ammunition. These guns are not bad."
Guo Yinan considered for a moment before saying, "Be careful."
Tianhu smiled and said, "Don't worry!"
He led his team towards a Japanese military camp behind the concentration camp.
The camp had about a company-sized unit of soldiers.
Tianhu observed quietly and then whispered to his team members, "Each person take two guns and three hand grenades. Don't alert the Japanese devils."
The team members nodded in agreement.
Tianhu gave the order, "Now, let's move!"
