Victory with Zero Casualties

City of Evil (Chapter 6: Zero Casualties Victory)

"Rat-a-tat-tat-tat" the machine guns fired non-stop, four machine gunners felt that the enemy was just a moving target on the training ground. Seeing the people they shot at crying out in pain and falling to the ground made them feel extremely pleased, thinking that the suffering they endured for a year on the training ground hadn't been in vain and had finally come in handy. As the machine gunners got more and more into it, their instructor shouted "Cease fire! E3!"

Dozens of rioters have been shot dead and others retreated back to the police station.

"Block the police station entrance, don't let them come out." The squad leader instructed the machine gunner to tie down the truck with a rope, then ran over to grab the rope and secure it to the truck's tow hook. He then ran back to the driver's cabin, "Drive, drive at maximum power!" Two 10-wheeled military trucks accelerated to full speed, pulling away two empty container trucks from in front of the police station entrance. The machine gunner continuously fired shots towards the police station entrance to prevent any bandits from sneaking out and ambushing their truck.

The street was immediately emptied, and the bandits lost their means of retreat, so they gave up running. First, they closed the police station's gate and then blocked it with various cabinets and movable furniture to prevent the garrison from rushing in. Then, they concentrated their firepower and began to fight for control of the building with the 100 or so policemen inside.

The police controlled several corridors leading to the upper floors and closed the elevators, so the gangsters could only move around on the first floor. The police took a few tables and placed them at the entrance of the corridor as cover, deploying more than a dozen police officers armed with M-4 carbines and large-caliber shotguns to guard the area. Whenever the gangsters attacked, the police would take cover behind the tables and fire desperately, with bullets pouring down on the gangsters like water, causing several casualties each time they charged. The leader of the rescue team was in a dilemma, wondering how many more people would die if they continued fighting like this. He immediately ordered his men to prepare for a strong attack with Molotov cocktails. A few brave gangsters pushed forward with tables as cover, while others hid behind moving shields and approached the police's position with Molotov cocktails. The police were puzzled that these thugs had also learned to use tables as cover, and they opened fire together in an attempt to penetrate the tables and take out a few gangsters.

When the moving table approached the corridor entrance tens of meters away, two Molotov cocktails flew out and landed behind the police, gasoline flowed out and ignited, several police guarding here were immediately burned, shouting and running along the corridor to the upstairs, the thugs bypassed the table with shotguns and chased after them, killing several injured police officers. Subsequently, a bloody battle unfolded between the police and the thugs in the corridor. The sound of AK-47s and M4s echoed back and forth, bullets flew horizontally in the corridor, the thugs held guns and advanced to the second floor along the corridor, dozens of police on the first floor had been burned to death by other thugs who opened up house-to-house fighting with Molotov cocktails, the thugs also suffered tens of casualties, as heavy as the police losses.

The police were fighting while retreating, and their automatic rifles didn't have many bullets to begin with. They couldn't withstand the gang of heavily armed thugs. When the thugs broke into the second floor corridor, the police's rifle bullets were all used up, and only a few who had MP-5 submachine guns could hold out for a while. Most of the police only had an M9F pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, which was not enough to put up a good fight.

The bandits, in order to reduce casualties, did not kick open the doors and shoot wildly like before. Instead, they used a fire axe to break the door locks, then opened a small gap in the door and threw tear gas canisters inside. Many police officers were not wearing gas masks, only a few had them. The police could not withstand the smoke and rushed out, where the bandits were waiting at the door to throw petrol bombs, burning the escaping police back. The police had no choice but to hide near the windows to breathe in some fresh air and call for help from the nearby garrison.

The soldiers were motionless without orders, watching as the police at the window were shot dead. The rioters' Molotov cocktails were not many, and after they ran out, they could only exchange gunfire with the police, and the sound of guns firing intensively inside the building started again. Those in the know could tell that the AK-47s were more numerous, which meant the police were at a disadvantage. The rioters were well-prepared, each carrying over 600 rounds of ammunition and hand grenades. Before entering each office door, they would first throw hand grenades, and after the explosion, they would charge in using the killing power of the grenades to aid them, firing AK-47s continuously at the injured police officers. The shotgun would blow open the heads of ordinary police officers without helmets like flowers.

The police resistance grew weaker and weaker, many policemen who were unwilling to die shouted to the bandits, expressing their willingness to surrender and remain neutral. The bandits were cunning, first agreeing to their conditions, luring them out and then killing them.

These police officers are not trained at all, they don't even dare to catch pickpockets on the bus. All they know is how to fine people, and they have gotten used to bullying others. There's no one who studies their profession, give him a gun and he'll waste all the bullets without hitting the target. The gangsters are fighting with each other every day for territory and against other gangs, their shooting skills are better than those of the police.

After a fierce battle that lasted for over an hour, the last dozen or so bandits killed the last few surrendered police officers, ending the gunfight inside the police station. All that was left to do was break out of the encirclement. The bandits were so enraged that they didn't spare any lives, killing all the captured police officers without even asking where their leader was hiding. They didn't have time to rescue anyone, thinking only about how to safely escape the constabulary's encirclement and get back.

Yu Fei and Wen Yong, who were well-versed in tactics, were experts at fighting. They didn't bother to rescue the dozen or so injured police officers in the restaurant, letting them bleed out until they almost died from shock. Anyway, these police officers were bad elements, and one less of them would be a good thing. If they didn't die, it would be troublesome for the constabulary to secretly investigate them later. There was no time to interrogate and investigate, so Yu Fei and Wen Yong thought it better to use that time to take down a few more criminal gangs instead. Although the constabulary had the power to supervise other departments and arrest and detain them, using this power would be troublesome, so it was better to let them die. What if they were caught alive and brought to court? The judges would investigate and find out that these people had taken bribes, and their entire fortune would be confiscated. Their families would starve to death, and the police officers' families would definitely transfer their assets. The court would convict them of obstructing justice and destroying evidence, and they might even lose their own lives for a few pieces of black money.

After these considerations, the two commanders of the gendarmerie decided to let the police die, at least their families would not be imprisoned. The police who had committed crimes were dead and gone, why bother leaving behind their families to suffer? In times of economic hardship, the death of a policeman meant some compensation for his family, so they could use the ill-gotten gains that the policeman had brought home. There were too many local thieves, and the gendarmerie couldn't be bothered with such minor matters unless they arrested all the relatives of public officials in the city, which would be tens of thousands of people. These people hadn't directly harmed social order, so letting them off was no big deal. The focus should be on cracking down on serious criminal offenses.

The gunfight inside the police station ended, and Yu Fei also knew that the tactics of watching the battle from a safe distance should be changed. He called the squad leader with a walkie-talkie, letting half of the squad take charge of the back door of the police station. The other soldiers took M-72 rocket launchers to thoroughly blow open the front door and windows of the police station, then frantically threw flash grenades inside before the assault team charged in with M-16A2 rifles.

Ten bandits were making a break for the front hall when they suddenly heard a loud explosion, and the doors and windows were all blown out. They quickly took cover, their eyes fixed on the windows and door, their cheeks pressed against their guns as they aimed at the windows and door. But then several hand grenades flew in and released a strong white light, temporarily blinding the bandits. The constables charged in with their guns at the ready. Tactical lights shone into the corners of the room, revealing ten or more bandits holding guns. The constables took aim with their automatic rifles and unleashed a dense barrage of gunfire.

"Sir, entering the front hall, the armed bandits were shot dead by us, finished." The constable reported and left one person to watch the scene, while the others took their guns upstairs to search for other bandits and police. The constables quickly searched the entire building and found two female police officers in the armory, taking them to a slightly cleaner room to wait for the superior to come and interrogate them. After the battle ended, Yu Fei and Wen Yong returned to the command vehicle, put down their skateboards, and re-wore their constable uniforms, donning black berets and wearing their badges and weapons before arriving at the police station.

In an office where no battles had taken place, two sleepy female police officers sat, while at the door stood two fully armed constables guarding, the female police could not see their faces clearly because all constables on duty wore black masks or anti-glare goggles, making it difficult to remember their appearance. The constables standing at the door looked tall and majestic.

Wen Qian and Xiao Yan, two female police officers, were still unaware that all the police bandits had been killed. The two of them stared blankly at the garrisoned constabulary, feeling a sense of security with the fully armed constabulary standing there. Normally, they rarely came into contact with this powerful law enforcement agency, because apart from having the power to handle general cases, they also had the power to handle special cases, especially when it came to crimes committed by public officials, they had absolute priority jurisdiction. As long as someone was on the state payroll, regardless of whether they were a mayor or a governor, if they did something unconstitutional, the constabulary had the right to send them to the National Security Court. Therefore, public officials also dared not to interact with them, lest their corrupt practices be exposed and they end up dead.

"Attention!" The garrison soldier shouted, and the two soldiers standing at attention maintained their posture and saluted. Footsteps echoed afterwards. Wen Qian and Xiao Yan were looking forward to seeing some higher-ranking military police officers, so that they could understand what had happened. The police would definitely investigate such a big incident, and it was impossible for them not to write a report. Yu Fei walked in with a serious expression, the brim of his helmet covering his forehead and eyebrows, making it inconvenient for others to see his eyes. He saw the two beautiful female police officers and felt a little special in his heart, but he didn't think much about it and asked: "Are they the only survivors?"
