Chapter 8: The Waves Rise Again
The whole night was spent in jolts, almost to the point of having one's intestines shaken loose. When the dawn broke and the morning light spread over the land, the convoy finally emerged from the primeval forest and onto a paved road.
The Mark couple let out a sigh of relief. Rubbing her still sore neck, Mrs. Mark smiled and said, "Thank God we're finally out of that damned forest."
After a night's rest, Lin Ruo Lan's physical strength was slowly recovering. She raised her hand to tidy up her hair, but accidentally rubbed the wound on her arm, "hiss" she made a wry face at the wound. This mischievous action amused Mrs. Mark, and even the usually serious Mr. Mark couldn't help but smile. Mrs. Mark put her hands on Lin Ruo Lan's shoulders: "My child, I'm sorry for you, if we hadn't called you to come with us, you wouldn't have gotten hurt."
Lin Ruo Lan smiled slightly, "No, dear Mrs. Mark, I want to thank you, because of your reason, I was able to experience the real battlefield." She spoke from her heart, and there was another unspoken sentence, because of Mr. and Mrs. Mark's reason, she was able to understand Jin Huang so deeply. Unable to resist looking at Jin Huang who was driving attentively in the front seat, she found that he was also looking at her through the rearview mirror, a slight smile on his lips, and deep affection written all over his eyes.
Lin Ruo Lan hastily turned her head to look out the window. A white ox cart was slowly moving along the rural road, men wrapped in mosquito nets sat under trees, chewing on betel nuts wrapped in leaves, and Buddhist shrines and water jars hung from trees for travelers to quench their thirst could be seen everywhere. It is said that this country is the capital of ten thousand Buddhas, indeed there are large and small temples along the road, the chanting of Buddhist scriptures in the clear morning air above the countryside, making it even more peaceful and serene.
After traveling on the rural dirt road for a whole morning, the convoy finally entered the capital of Country D at 14:40 - a city lacking in vitality. The wide roads with ten lanes had few vehicles, and the modern buildings and brightly decorated residential areas scattered among the weeds on both sides seemed to be uninhabited, as if they were in an empty city, feeling only desolation.
The city was not big, and the fleet quickly entered the embassy district. At the gate of the Chinese Embassy, a military officer with a rank of major general in his fifties stood at attention, looking out onto the road. When he saw the fleet approaching, his face lit up with joy. Jin Huan did not stop the car at the gate, and the fleet drove directly into the embassy's parking lot. Only after the gates closed did Jin Huan get out of the car alone. The major general immediately ran over to him, and Jin Huan saluted him, then pointed to his own eyes and ears with his hand. The major general said at once, "Don't worry, Comrade Jin Huan, this place is very safe." He tightly grasped Jin Huan's hand: "You must have had a hard journey! I am the military officer in charge of receiving you, my name is Shen Xianghui. Ambassador Han Feng is currently dealing with diplomatic matters at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Country D, and he just called to say that he will be back in an hour."
"I know you, we had a brief encounter three years ago." Jin Huan has an incredible memory and never forgets anything he's seen. He gave a simple report of the battles they encountered on their way to the hideout, and Shen Xianghui hastily said: "I'll arrange for the wounded to be taken to the hospital for treatment, your rooms are already prepared, please take a rest first." As soon as he finished speaking, his secretary was already calling the hospital for an ambulance.
Jin Hao signaled to the team members to get off. He pulled Lin Ruolan aside and said in a low voice, "You go with the guests to rest first, you also take some time to rest, it's very safe here, relax a bit."
Lin Ruo Lan nodded and beckoned Mark and his wife to follow the secretary into a three-story small building. As they were about to enter, she turned her head back and saw Yang Xinxin standing under the car with handcuffs on, staring at her with cold eyes, as if something had sunk deeply, making people feel chilled. Two embassy guards escorted her into the temporary detention room in the embassy basement.
Chen Jianfeng gave Ma Ping a signal, and Ma Ping opened the trunk. After scanning with the machine, he reported: "No listening or surveillance devices or wireless electromagnetic waves were found."
Long Fei pulled Chen Jianfeng aside and whispered: "Do you want to set up infrared radar in the building where we live?"
Chen Jianfeng looked up at Jin Huan, who was being pulled to one side by Shen Xianghui to discuss something, "Don't worry, after all this is an embassy, mercenaries won't dare to barge in brazenly in broad daylight." He turned his head to call out to the other team members: "Except for the wounded, everyone else go inside, hurry up and take a shower and rest for a bit. Also, this is an embassy, don't be too ostentatious, everyone change into casual clothes."
"Yes!" The team members responded in unison and carried their equipment and weapons into that three-story small building.
Jin Huang asked Shen Xianghui about the situation in D country, and his face seemed not very good. Seeing Long Fei's inquiring gaze, he lowered his voice and said: "Let's talk later."
The ambulance arrived, and Geng Guohui was lifted onto the stretcher. Jin Huan gestured to Xu Mingliang to go together, but he waved his hand with a smile: "Jin Dage, I'm fine, just scratched a bit of skin, I'll be okay tomorrow."
Chen Jianfeng said to Lei Ming who was trying to enter the building as if nothing had happened: "What are you running for, hurry up and go to the hospital."
"This little injury is nothing," Lei Meng said with a bitter face: "Jin Da, Chen Deputy, I beg of you, don't send me to the hospital."
"What's wrong with you?" Jin Huan took a step forward, grabbed him and pushed him hard towards the ambulance, "If you don't get on now, I'll throw you in. Let the doctor treat your wound, or it will get infected."
Lei Meng was caught by him and couldn't move, so he obediently got on the ambulance, not forgetting to shout: "Jin Da, wait for me to come back!"
Jin Huang understood his meaning was to wait until he returned before taking action. He smiled and waved: "Don't worry, you won't be left out."
Shen Xianghui watched as the wounded got on the car, and after the ambulance left the embassy, he turned to Jin Huan with a smile: "You must be tired, hurry up and rest, we'll talk in detail when Ambassador Han gets back." After saying that, he sent Jin Huan and the others to the door of their room. Just as he was about to leave, Jin Huan called out to him again: "The female comrade who came with us doesn't have experience, she must have forgotten to bring a change of clothes, would you please ask your wife to help her find some clothes?"
Shen Xianghui hastily said: "No problem, all female comrades love beauty, I'll immediately have my wife get a local ethnic costume, this matter is taken care of by me."
Long Fei poked Chen Jianfeng lightly in the back and smiled with raised eyebrows, Chen Jianfeng responded with a faint smile.
When Long Fei went to find Jin Huang after finishing his bath, Chen Jianfeng and Jin Huang had already changed into casual clothes and were talking in a low voice inside the room. "So you're saying this trip was for nothing?" Chen Jianfeng's eyebrows were furrowed.
Jin Hao nodded, his expression also somewhat solemn: "From Shen Xianghui's introduction, there is such a possibility."
Long Fei was taken aback and asked: "What's going on? What happened?"
Chen Jianfeng took a deep breath, "The D country government can't withstand the pressure from M country, and has changed its mind. It wants to hand over the plane wreckage to M country within ten days. The embassy is working hard to negotiate, but we'll have to wait for Ambassador Han to return to know the specific result."
Long Fei slammed his fist on the table: "Damn it, a bunch of soft eggs!" He looked at Jin Huang: "What do you think? If the negotiation doesn't work out, we have to make up our own minds first."
"Only ten days," Chen Jianfeng said, lowering his head in contemplation. "It's too difficult to find all the wreckage fragments within such a short period of time and secretly transport them back to the country."
Jin Hao narrowed his eyes slightly, gazing out the window for a long time. "Then let's find a way that's not too difficult." He suddenly pointed towards the door, and almost at the same time, Chen Jianfeng and Long Fei both jumped up. One of them quickly opened the door, and two black gun barrels were already pointing at Shen Xianghui and another man who had not yet stood firm outside the door.
"Haha, the special forces are indeed elite, we haven't even reached the door and we've already been discovered." Shen Xianghui burst out laughing. Chen Jianfeng and Long Fei hastily put their guns back in their holsters.
Shen Xianghui pointed to the man standing beside him: "Let me introduce you, this is Ambassador Han Feng."
Han Lei and the others exchanged a few pleasantries before he got straight to the point: "Comrade Jin Hua, you probably already know that things are extremely unfavorable for us." He furrowed his brow. "Country M has made military threats against Country D, and almost all of the government officials in Country D think they should hand over the wreckage to Country M to avoid trouble. If it weren't for a few larger pieces of wreckage still scattered in the rainforest that haven't been found yet, I'm afraid they would have already started transporting them by now."
"Are you saying they've found some of the wreckage?" A glimmer of hope lit up in Jin Huan's heart.
"Yes, they found the most critical part - the engine wreckage! I understand what you mean, but I'm afraid it's not possible." Shen Xianghui sighed regretfully: "The M country has dispatched a special forces squad to guard the wreckage at the crash site. According to one of my friends within the D** team, even they have difficulty approaching that area."
Jin Hao's expression was icy, his brain racing with a bold plan taking shape. He thought through all possible outcomes and asked, "What are the headquarters' instructions?"
"Headquarters has authorized you to act on your own, in order to avoid information leaks, it's not necessary to ask for instructions beforehand." Shen Xianghui looked at this young man who was strong and reserved, with a hint of a smile on his face, but it quickly disappeared. "If you have any difficulties, feel free to raise them at any time, Ambassador Han and I will fully cooperate with your actions."
Chen Jianfeng had already guessed Jin Huan's intention, and a smile spread across his face, as bright and clear as moonlight flowing water: "Then let's not beat around the bush. We need a topographic map of the wreckage area with specific coordinate points marked on it."
"This isn't a problem, I can get the topographic map through my friends in the government," Han Feng hesitated for a moment, "Are you still thinking of taking the guest to that godforsaken place? Isn't this too dangerous? If anything happens to Mark and his wife, it would be a huge loss for the country!"
"Heh heh," Long Fei chuckled before speaking, the sharp and wise side of him as a chief strategist revealed in his low, unhurried tone. "We won't let our guests take risks, since they want to set sail, then let them, only the destination needs to be changed."
"Can you help us get six sets of US-style jungle combat uniforms, 4 AUG assault rifles, 1 SVD sniper rifle, 1 G3SG/1 sniper rifle, 1 M249 squad machine gun, 2 G3K short-barrel rifles with 100-round drum magazines, and enough ammunition?"
"These are all no problem, but the earliest can only be ready by tomorrow night."
Han Lei's eyebrows flickered with a hint of worry, "If there's no certainty, I still hope you won't take the risk." His expression was very serious: "Young men, human life is only once, I hope you all live well and don't make unnecessary sacrifices."
Jin Huang Town's determined smile, "Our battle plan still needs to be carefully considered, don't worry, if I can't think it through thoroughly, I won't recklessly lead my comrades to their deaths."
Han Teng's eyebrows rose, and he stood up: "Alright, I'll get the topographic map as soon as possible. If there's anything else you need, feel free to come find me or Dean Shen anytime. The traitor you brought has been locked up, and in three days, a transport plane carrying relief supplies will return home. We'll send someone to escort her back then." He took out a set of keys from his pocket and handed them to Jin Huan: "The black Volkswagen in the garage outside is my private car. Your three cars will draw attention wherever you go; if anything happens, take mine instead."
Jin Hao took the key and thanked him. Han Lei added, "Originally, I should have taken you out for dinner tonight, but Shen Da Xue and I both have events to attend this evening. Tomorrow at noon, I'll be hosting a banquet at the embassy, please make sure to attend."
See off Han Lei and Shen Xianghui, he immediately called Ma Ping to the room: "Set up infrared radar in this building where we live, ensure that all blind spots are monitored, there can be no omissions!"
"Understood!" Ma Ping responded immediately and got to work. Half an hour later, he returned to report: "Jin Da, the defense system is set up and has started working normally. With this building as the center, within a radius of 500 meters, everything is under our control. A total of 12 electronic eyes and 30 infrared sensors have been set up. The alarm signal for intruders is a series of short 'beep' sounds, which have already been connected to everyone's radios."
"Go," Jin Huan patted his back, "tell all team members to rest well, quickly adjust their state, and make good pre-war preparations."
"Yes!" Ma Ping bowed and left.
Long Fei lazily straightened his waist and let out a yawn: "I'm going to sleep too, I'm so sleepy."
Chen Jianfeng patted his shoulder, "Go to sleep quickly, you've only slept for five hours in three days. I'll go downstairs and take a look around to see if there are any safety hazards."
Jin Hao said: "Wait a minute, I'll go too."
Chen Jianfeng smiled leisurely and said calmly, "What are you following me for? I and Long Fei have decided to give you a half-day off, come back at 10 o'clock tonight to make up for it." He turned his head to wink at Long Fei: "Right, Long Fei?"
Long Fei was taken aback for a moment, then suddenly enlightened and said: "Ah, right, right, I'll let you off for half a day."
Jin Huang looked at them in confusion, "You... are giving me a holiday?"
Long Fei walked over to Jin Huang's side with a mysterious smile: "Are you stupid? Are you still waiting for the girl to take the initiative to find you?" He pulled Chen Jianfeng together and walked out the door, turning back to laugh and say: "Hey, don't shoot blindly."
"Get out!" Along with Jin Huan's mocking laughter, a pillow flew towards Long Fei. Long Fei hastily stepped back and quickly closed the door. The pillow hit the door panel and fell to the ground.
Lin Ruo Lan was feeling very relaxed at the moment, and since Mark and his wife were resting in their room, she had nothing to do. After a refreshing hot bath, Lin Ruo Lan felt invigorated. She put on the dress that Mrs. Shen had sent over - a pale blue off-the-shoulder long-sleeved shirt made of thin gauze, with long and narrow sleeves, and a white tube skirt that reached her ankles. The skirt was tailored to perfection, accentuating the curves of her waist and hips, and paired with a pair of handmade straw shoes, Lin Ruo Lan twirled in front of the mirror, feeling that this outfit brought out a unique beauty in her.
After admiring herself in the mirror, Lin Ruo Lan took the dirty clothes she had changed out of and sent them to the laundry room beside the stairs. Lin Jie was leaning against the wall outside the laundry room, standing guard, and saw her smile and say: "Director Lin, this outfit really suits you."
Lin Ruo Lan pursed the corner of her mouth, revealing a quiet smile. These task force members had always kept a respectful distance from her, avoiding talking to her as much as possible when they didn't have to, especially Lin Jie, who had always been cold towards her. She understood in her heart: they didn't accept her, not treating her like a comrade-in-arms. Now that Lin Jie was taking the initiative to greet her, it meant that her actions last night in rescuing Yang Xinxin had been acknowledged by the team members, and she was being accepted.
Throw dirty clothes into the washing machine and turn around to see Chen Jianfeng passing by from behind, and my heart can't help but be slightly surprised.
It was the first time I saw Chen Jianfeng wearing casual clothes, a black short-sleeved shirt on top, casually tucked into a pair of off-white casual pants, and a pair of shiny black leather shoes on his feet. With broad shoulders, straight back, long legs, plus those free and easy movements, he was almost as tall as Jin Huan, where could you still find any coldness and arrogance of a soldier in him? At this moment, Chen Jianfeng was indeed a refined and elegant young master, so real, natural, calm, mature, with a sharp air hidden beneath his peaceful demeanor, persistent yet never rude.
It's been said among the female soldiers that Chen Jianfeng is the only son of a certain group army commander, but on him, there is no sign of the arrogance and recklessness of a spoiled rich kid. He has always controlled himself, not showing off his abilities, not seeking to draw attention, without great joys or sorrows, without bias or fanaticism, presenting life with a mature and refined demeanor. This man speaks calmly and unhurriedly, walks steadily and powerfully, treats people with moderation, even his smile is deep and shallow in the right degree, just like the quietest spring water in a deep pool, flowing deeply but silently. That calmness is a kind of luxurious elegance, like He Shi's beautiful jade, which can only be encountered occasionally, not forcibly sought. It seems that all the chaotic emotions, when they reach him, will be combed and soothed.
Chen Jianfeng's calm and smiling gaze rested on Lin Ruolan, with an expression of admiration: "This dress suits you very well." His gaze shifted to her arm, "Remember to clean the wound, it's hot here, if not treated properly, the wound can easily get infected."
Lin Ruo Lan nodded and swung her arm: "Nothing's wrong, it's almost healed."
Chen Jianfeng nodded, "I'll go out for a walk, Jin Huan is alone in the room." After finishing speaking, he beckoned to Lin Jie and the two of them went downstairs together.
Lin Ruo Lan's face turned red from his last sentence, and she muttered softly to herself: "What does it have to do with me?" Just as she was about to push open the door to her room, she suddenly saw a tall figure cast a shadow on the door in the fading sunlight. Lin Ruo Lan was startled and quickly turned around, and it was Jin Huan. He was walking slowly towards her, his footsteps steady and elegant, like a leopard stalking its prey, his strong presence filling the entire corridor.
Seeing Lin Ruolan's flustered expression, he furrowed his brow: "Did I scare you?"
Lin Ruo Lan finally found her own voice, "You you you...... how come you're walking without making a sound?!"
Jin Hao's gaze swept over her entire body, she looked incredibly beautiful, just now looking at her back, he almost didn't recognize her. Lin Ruolan felt his gaze was scorching hot, like a fire, just being looked at, she couldn't help but tremble.
His dark large hand landed on her arm, the movement was surprisingly gentle, rolling up his sleeve to examine the wound. The wound had a slight infection, and his eyebrows furrowed: "Didn't apply medicine after bathing?"
"I'm afraid of pain..." Lin Ruo Lan whispered a sentence.
"It hurts, but you have to put medicine on it. What if it gets infected?" Jin Huan took a deep breath, his heart racing with anxiety as the scene at the cliff edge replayed in his mind. This little woman didn't know how to protect herself; she needed someone to take care of her and protect her all the time - and he was more than willing to do just that for the rest of his life! He gently pulled her into his arms, pushed open the door: "Come on, let me help you put medicine on it."
The cool ointment applied to the wound brought a slight pain, causing Lin Ruolan to lean tightly against Jin Huan's chest. Jin Huan wrapped his arms around her, and his body heat transmitted over, making her whole body feel warm as well. The room suddenly became very quiet, with only Jin Huan's long, steady breathing accompanying her by the ear. Jin Huan gazed at those scars, his expression so focused, in his usually cold eyes, there was deep tenderness, deep pity, that kind of look made her have an indescribable feeling, as if fine tentacles were slowly infiltrating into the depths of her soul.
His large, rough hands put down her sleeves and came to her delicate chin, lifting it up with infinite gentleness, forcing her to meet his gaze, not allowing her to lower her head again. Lin Ruo Lan could only look helplessly at the man in front of her, as if she was being hypnotized.
"Lan'er." He called out to her in a soft, whispery tone, his low, masculine voice echoing through the room. "I promise, I won't let you get hurt again." As she listened to him say these words, it was as if she could hear his heartbeat. The intimate way he called out to her and the unhidden deep affection in his eyes made her chest feel warm and fuzzy, leaving her speechless and only able to lean tightly against him, breathing in the clean, masculine scent that belonged to him.
She gazed up at his strong and handsome face, and Lin Ruo Lan couldn't help but reach out to gently caress it. Jin Huan's eyes darkened slightly as he suddenly lowered his head to kiss her lips. His kiss was like a long-awaited thirst, intense and suffocating, deep and direct, wild and full of plundering, teasing the tender flesh inside her mouth. The dizzying whirlpool of their entwined tongues left Lin Ruo Lan helpless, clinging to his chest, surrounded by his strong body, drawn in by his kiss, instinctively wrapping her arms around his neck, willingly drowning in his gentle affection, and letting the two of them embrace even more intimately. She trembled, panicked by the unfamiliar sensation, yet was led by him, unable to help but touch and learn. When she tried to return the kiss with clumsy technique, he let out a low growl.
Time also slowed down, as if it wanted to keep this moment forever. Until, after a long, long time, he finally reluctantly moved away. Lin Ruo Lan slightly shifted her body, and immediately heard his low growl by her ear, "Don't move!" His powerful arms hugged her even tighter, "If you don't want to be eaten by me now, then don't move randomly!"
Lin Ruo Lan snuggled obediently in his arms, listening to his irregular heartbeat, and felt a sweetness in her heart. Just one kiss, and he, who had iron-like self-control, was on the verge of losing control, with sparks flashing in his eyes as if they were about to ignite her. Gently stroking his solid chest, she felt the rapid heartbeat beneath her palm. "Do you like it?" He asked softly, rubbing her tender face with his rough fingers, and breathed hot air onto her face, smiling and asking in a low voice. "Do you like this heart that beats for you?"
Her heart skipped a beat as she stared at him, somewhat uncertain, yet every expression on his face told her he wasn't lying. A proud smile suddenly appeared on Lin Ruo Lan's face. This strong man was able to give her an eternal sense of safety and happiness in just a few short seconds. For a woman to experience being cherished and pampered like this once in a lifetime was enough!
Jin Hao held her in his arms and walked to the sofa, sitting down and placing her on his lap. Lin Ruolan's face turned red as she couldn't get used to such intimate actions, feeling a bit flustered, she quickly wanted to pull away, but just as she moved, she felt a strong and powerful grip, Jin Hao's hands were waiting there, effectively trapping her, making it impossible for her to escape. "Lan, after tomorrow I might have to leave you for a few days."
"Huh?" Lin Ruolan didn't react for a moment, and it wasn't until after a while that she understood what he said. "Where are you going?"
He suddenly tightened his grip on her hands, as if he wanted to transfer his vitality to her at the same time. "The situation has changed a bit, and there may be a fierce battle ahead, so you need to stay in a safe place, I can't let you take risks with me."
Lin Ruo Lan's throat was dry, her mouth opened and closed, hesitated for a moment, before she finally managed to ask the huge question in her heart: "Jin Huang, are you tired of me, don't want to bring me along?"
His response was a warm hug, those strong hands tightly wrapped around her, as if he never wanted to let go again. "Little one, how could I not want to take you with me? I wish we could be together every moment. But I don't want to put you in harm's way because of my own selfishness. Lan'er, listen and stay here until I come back, okay?"
Lin Ruo Lan lowered her head in distress, knowing that if she had to follow Jin Huang, it would not only increase trouble and danger for him but also for the entire special forces team. However, despite knowing how dangerous what he was about to do was, she couldn't help at all, and a wave of despair washed over her as tears uncontrollably fell from her eyes. "If... if I were Yang Xinxin, it would be great, then I could follow you." Her voice grew softer, aware that she was somewhat overestimating herself.
"Nonsense! You are who you are, you don't need to become anyone else, understand?" Jin Huan tightly wrapped his arms around her, gently kissing away her tears, and softly called out: "Lan'er, don't cry, I'll be back soon."
His voice was tinged with a hint of helplessness, making Lin Ruolan's heart feel heavy. She sniffled and said in a low voice: "I've always liked Shu Ting's poem 'To the Oak Tree'. I used to imagine that if I fell in love with a man, I would be like the fiery kapok tree by his side. But now, I realize that I'm not capable enough, I don't have what it takes."
"You can, you've already done it." Jin Huan whispered to her in a low, mellow voice, countless light kisses falling on her hair. "Lan'er, believe me, you've already stood with me as the image of a tree, and in the years to come, you'll certainly share with me the cold waves, wind and thunder, and hail; together we'll enjoy the mist, flowing clouds, and rainbows." He lowered his head, gazing straight into her eyes, his dark pupils reflecting her own.
"Do you also know that poem?" The persistence and determination in his eyes reassured Lin Ruolan, replacing her small sense of inferiority with curiosity. It was hard to imagine that Jin Huan, a busy military officer, would actually remember a small poem.
"I remember this one, and I also remember the one I saw at your house." Jin Huan's thick voice was filled with the warmest smile, "Every sentence, every word is remembered clearly."
Lin Ruo Lan's face quickly turned red, she rested her head in the depression of his collarbone and neck, her whole body was enveloped in his breath, closed her eyes, listening to his steady and powerful heartbeat, knowing that this broad chest was her best haven.
The sky had darkened, and neither of them had thought to turn on the lights. The two of them sat quietly embracing in the darkness. After a long while, there was a very polite knock at the door. Jin Huan let out a sigh, picked up the little woman from his arms and placed her on the sofa, leaned down to kiss her lips, and got up to open the door.
There was no one outside the door, but there was an additional hand-pushed food cart, with steaming hot dishes inside. Jin Huan's lips slightly curved upwards as he turned on the room light and pulled the cart in.
The dishes were rich and varied: fried pork chops, green pepper beef, roasted pork, carrot stewed beef, and a pot of thick chicken soup. Jin Huan placed each dish on the table one by one, filled a bowl with chicken soup and handed it to Lin Ruolan, the aroma wafting up to her nose, "So fragrant." Lin Ruolan couldn't help but take a deep breath, her mouth watering, which added a hint of indulgence to Jin Huan's smile. After just two sips of the soup, a piece of roasted pork was placed at her lips, "I'll feed you myself." Lin Ruolan's face turned red as she softly protested.
Jin Huan, however, pretended not to hear, his dark eyes gazing at her warmly. The chopsticks held a piece of meat and deliberately lingered by her lips. She had no choice but to open her mouth, her face flushing as she ate the deliciously roasted pork. Just as she swallowed the pork, another piece of beef was presented to her, and she could only resign herself to opening her mouth again. Jin Huan seemed to be addicted to feeding her, each dish being sent to her lips one by one...
Under the gentle gaze of those black eyes, Lin Ruolan's face turned red and her heart skipped a beat as she ate this meal, but in her heart, she felt an indescribable sweetness.
Jin Hao gazed at the girl beside him, wondering if there would ever be a day when he could get enough of her. A warm breath surrounded his heart, and he whispered to himself: "Lan'er, I love you!" Watching her happy and carefree was a pleasure, like drinking honey that sweetened his heart. The feeling of holding the girl he loved in the palm of his hand and protecting her was truly wonderful.
He secretly decided that from now on, as long as she wanted to eat, wear, or play, he would give it to her. If she didn't want something, he knew about it and would find a way to get it for her anyway - after all, she was the girl Jin Huang loved.
