Chapter 17: Saving You Is Not Up for Discussion
Xin Yuan followed the master's orders and chased after Geng Yuan without stopping. In Bayintown, he heard that a young monk had caused trouble in a tavern. Based on people's descriptions, Xin Yuan guessed that the young monk was probably Geng Yuan. He found out that the young monk was heading towards Cangmen City and quickly left Bayin Town to chase after him.
In the outskirts of Bayin Town, Xin Yuan heard a gunshot.
Xin Yuan hastened his pace, fearing that Geng Yuan would stir up trouble again and bring calamity upon them. At a fork in the road, Xin Yuan ran into the security team escorting a man.
Xin Yuan's eyes narrowed as he crouched down and slipped into the grass by the side of the road, observing carefully.
Xin Yuan looked at these security guards wearing their hats crookedly and carrying their guns on their backs, and he couldn't help but look down on them. Xin Yuan thought to himself: "These lazy good-for-nothings, why can't they do something decent? Why must they bear the name of traitors and work for the Japanese? They're really a bunch of spineless things!" Xin Yuan hated traitors the most; if there were no traitors, the Japanese wouldn't be so arrogant. He wished he could jump out from the bushes and beat them until their faces were bruised and swollen.
Xin Yuan looked at the man who was tied up with five flowers again, and he had a majestic aura, a proud bone, like a top-notch hero.
"Hurry up! You good-for-nothing bandit, stop dawdling, do you think anyone will come to rescue you at this time? Don't daydream. Once we arrive at the City of Cangmen, we'll hand you over to the Imperial Army, haha, let's see whose mouth is harder, yours or the Imperial Army's iron stamp! Hmph! Move it!" One of the security team members was yelling viciously at the man known as a bandit, using the butt of his gun to strike his waist, forcing him to hurry up.
The man known as Tuba Road looked coldly at the clowns in front of him, not responding, but his chest puffed out even more.
"They say that the Eighth Route Army is not afraid of death, but that's not entirely true. Hehe, yesterday we caught that guy, and before he was even punished, he spilled everything, which led us to catch this big fish today. Brothers, today we have achieved a great merit! This big fish is the commander of the Eighth Route Army's guerrilla force in Cangmen City - Qiu Huachun. Brothers, just wait for me to take you to the commander's place to receive our reward! Hahaha!"
The person speaking is Hu San Shui, the deputy officer of Feng Ren Heo and the captain of this operation.
Xin Yuan overheard their conversation and couldn't help but think to himself: "Qiu Huachun? I've long heard people say that this Qiu Huachun is a renowned anti-Japanese hero in Cangmen City, the leader of the Cangmen City Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Troop. How did he end up in the hands of these good-for-nothings? Just now, they said that Qiu Huachun was captured due to being betrayed by an informer. Hmph! This traitor is too despicable, too spineless. No way, I must rescue this anti-Japanese hero." Xin Yuan crouched behind a clump of grass, thinking of a plan.
"How to save? The security team is numerous and not to be feared, but they all hold guns in their hands. Once they open fire, what if the anti-Japanese heroes are injured? Hmm, a foolproof plan must be thought of." Xinyuan pondered.
Xin Yuan turned his head and saw that on a tree in the forest, there was a piece of cloth hanging. Xin Yuan was overjoyed: "There's a way!"
Xin Yuan bent down and came to the big tree, took a leap, and pulled down the black cloth from the branch. Xin Yuan wrapped a stone in the pulled-down black cloth, picked up the bundle, and came to the side of the road. He saw a ditch by the side of the road, flashed his body, and jumped over the ditch. When the security team passed by, Xin Yuan suddenly shouted: "Get him!" and threw the black cloth bundle with stones in his hand towards the security team.
The security team looked up and saw a black object falling from the sky, heading straight for them. They were shocked and shouted: "It's not good, there's a bomb! Quick, get down!" These useless people actually listened and all crouched on the ground with their heads in their hands. Meanwhile, Qiu Huachun, who was tied up, saw an opportunity and rolled onto the ground.
Xin Yuan made a sudden leap from the dam and pulled up Qiu Huachun, then they both rushed into the cornfield by the side of the road.
Something black fell to the ground, and there was no explosion for a long time. Hu San Shui hugged his head, and his two mouse eyes kept looking around. He found that the black thing had fallen on the buttocks of a security guard in the front row. He took a closer look and saw clearly that it was not a bomb, but a piece of black cloth wrapped around something. Hu San Shui was both angry and annoyed, and he stood up with a "huff", kicking the security guards who were still lying on the ground fiercely: "You cowards, get up! A piece of cloth wrapped around something scared you like that, what kind of soldiers are you? Get up quickly!" He looked around and found that Qiu Hua Chun was nowhere to be seen. His heart skipped a beat, and he became tense.
He walked towards the two security guards responsible for watching Qiu Huachun and slapped them several times.
Qiu Huachun ran away, this shock was no small matter, Hu San Shui went mad.
"You cowardly bastards, you wine sacks, where's the man? Where's the man? How are you going to report back to Commander? Do you have any brains left? What are you still standing there for? Hurry up and find him!" Hu San was furious, pulling out his pistol and yelling at his subordinates.
"Hu Fu Guan must have taken advantage of the chaos and escaped into the cornfield!" a security guard said.
"Hurry up and search the ground! If you can't find Qiu Huachun, I'll kill all of you right now!" Hu Sanshui fired two shots into the sky.
"Search! Search!" Hu Sanshui drove away the security guards and entered the cornfield.
Xin Yuan saved Qiu Huachun and quickly untied him.
"Who are you? Why did you save me?" Qiu Hua Chun asked casually, looking at the young monk in front of him.
Qiu Huachun asked, "Who tied you up?" Xin Yuan replied, "I am from Biyuan Temple, and my name is Xin Yuan."
"So it was Master Xin. Which one of the Eight Great Masters are you?" The Eight Great Masters were renowned, and Qiu Huachun had naturally heard of them.
"I'm eighth in line. Captain Qiu, we can't stay here for long, let's hurry." Xinyin led Qiu Huachun across the cornfield and ran to a small riverbank.
"After crossing this small river and entering the mountain, they won't be able to find us," said Xin Yuan.
"Right! Xin Jingang, you saved me, I haven't thanked you yet!" Qiu Huachun and Xin Yuan waded across the river together.
At this time, gunshots sounded behind them. Xin Yuan and Qiu Hua-chun had already crossed the small river and hid in a mountain ditch on the other side of the river. Hu San-shui led the security team to the riverside, but didn't see anyone, fired a few shots at the riverbank, and walked away dejectedly.
After seeing the security team leave, two people came out of the mountain valley and sat in the forest on the hillside to talk.
"Captain Qiu, you're too polite, it's all for the sake of resisting Japan, you don't have to thank me. Everyone has a responsibility to resist Japan and save the country!" Xinyuan said.
"Xin Jingang, your enlightenment is very high, it makes me admire you," said Qiu Huachun.
"Captain Qiu, don't call me that, just call me Brother Xin. You're the ones who are fighting against the Japanese and sacrificing your lives for the country, you're the real heroes! What kind of heroes are we?" Xin Yuanqian said humbly.
"Hmm, as long as we Chinese people unite and resist the Japanese together, those little Japanese will eventually perish." Qiu Huachun clenched his fist and said.
"Yes! It will perish sooner or later!" Xin Yuan responded firmly.
Suddenly, a voice floated out from behind the two: "Stand up, I've finally caught you!"
