Chapter 66: On the Brink of Death

Chapter 66: On the Brink of Death

Lan Shengyan sat in the driver's seat with a calm expression and said, "Calling for a ride?"

Tian Nuanyu didn't expect to run into Lan Shengyan here. She was taken aback for a moment, then nodded slightly.

  "Get on the bus!"

Tian Nuoyu was stunned and stood still.

"I'm free anyway, I'll take you!" Lán Shēng Yān said as he leaned over to open the passenger door.

Tian Nuanyu turned her head and looked at the road again, still didn't see a taxi passing by, she no longer hesitated to open the car door and sat in the passenger seat.

Tian Nuoyu fastened her seatbelt, and Lán Shēng Yān started the car. However, they encountered a red light at the first intersection. Tian Nuoyu raised her wrist to glance at the time on her watch and furrowed her brow anxiously.

Lan Shengyan glanced at her and asked in a light tone, "In a hurry?"

Tian Nuanyu glanced at Lan Shengyan and nodded slightly.

"Pull up your sleeves and tell me where you want to go."

Lan Shengyan finished speaking and didn't care that the traffic light was still red, he stepped on the accelerator directly. The car drove to the middle of the intersection and immediately caused a burst of car horns. Lan Shengyan's car, however, swam through the many vehicles crossing in front like a fish.

Tian Nuoyu looked at Lan Shengyan with some surprise, but he was calm and determined.

"How do I get there?" His tone was also extremely calm.

Tian Nuoyu calmed down and focused, saying where they were going and the route to take. Lan Shengyan nodded lightly and accelerated the car, ignoring all traffic lights as if they were in a deserted land, speeding through the roads with lightning speed.

When they arrived at their destination, Tian Nuoyu glanced at her watch. They were already in the suburbs. Normally, it would take her more than an hour to get here by bus, but today Lanshengyan had only taken twenty minutes.

Tian Nuanyu said "thank you" three times to Lan Shengyan, then got off the car and rushed into a red large wooden door.

Lan Shengyan looked up and saw that next to the gate were written a few large characters: "Songhe Residence Respectful Elderly Home".

He restarted the car and pulled it over to the side of the road, then stopped. The person sat in the car without moving or immediately driving away.

Tian Nuoyu entered the main gate and rushed straight to the third floor. She stopped in front of a room with "309" written on the door frame above it.

The door of the room was wide open, and inside stood several nursing staff wearing pink uniforms, as well as a few people in casual clothes. Everyone had their backs to the door, but one man in his late 50s, who was also in casual clothes, happened to turn around and saw Tian Nanyu. He turned around with a somewhat solemn expression and said in a low voice, "Nanyu, you've finally arrived. The old man has been waiting for you."

Everyone in the room turned their heads, and upon seeing Tian Nuanyu, they automatically stepped aside to make way for her. In the middle of the room, an old lady with a head full of silver hair sat upright on a rattan rocking chair.

The old lady wore a bright red long-sleeved cheongsam with a flying golden phoenix embroidered on her chest, light makeup on her face, and silver hair neatly combed into a bun. Her hands were placed flat on the armrests of the rocking chair, her eyes slightly closed, and her expression calm and kind.

Tian Nuoyu walked forward with a gentle pace, carefully placing the plastic bag in her hand on the ground, then slowly crouched down in front of the old lady and gazed at her as she softly called out: "Feng Nainai".

The old lady closed her eyes and didn't respond at all.

Tian Nuanyu's heart skipped a beat, and she gently placed her hand on the old lady's knee, calling out softly: "Feng Nainai!" As soon as the words fell, tears had already welled up in her eyes.

The old lady's eyelids moved slightly and then slowly opened her eyes, after seeing Tian Nuan Yu, a kind smile appeared on her face: "Yu'er is here".

"Hmm!" Tian Nuanyu responded softly, her tears welling up in her eyes.

"Yu'er hasn't come to see Grandma for a long time!" The old lady curved her eyes and smiled, with several beautiful crow's feet wrinkles at the corners of her eyes.

"I'm sorry, it's all Yuer's fault, Yuer deserves a beating!" Tian Nuoyu sobbed.

The old lady lifted one hand from the armrest of her rocking chair and gently patted the back of Tian Nuanyu's hand on her knee, smiling warmly: "Grandma knows, Yu'er has always remembered Grandma in her heart, right?"

Tian Nuoyu lowered her head heavily and nodded repeatedly, tears swirling rapidly in her eye sockets as she forced herself not to let them fall.

"Grandma is leaving, will Yuer still remember Grandma in her heart?" The old lady's face still had the smile from earlier.

Tian Nuanyu's tears could no longer be held back, sliding out of her eye sockets. She nodded desperately, but her head hung even lower, and her shoulders trembled slightly.

The old lady lifted her hand and gently stroked Tian Nuanyu's head, with an increasingly kind expression on her face: "Girl, didn't we agree not to cry? Grandma can see Feng Ye and Ruhua now, Yu'er should be happy for Grandma, right?"

Tian Nuoyu still nodded silently, and after a while, she controlled her emotions and wiped away the tears from her eyes. She stretched out her hand to wipe off the tears on her face, then lifted her head and smiled at the old lady: "Yes, Yu'er is happy for Nainai!"

"Good, good, this is a good child!" The old lady patted Tian Nuanyu's hand again and smiled: "Grandma is leaving, did Yu'er bring any gifts for Grandma?"

"Of course there is, how could it be missing?" Tian Nuanyu said, turning sideways to slowly open the blue plastic bag beside her.

The old lady's face lit up with a happy smile when she saw what was in the plastic bag.
