Chapter Twenty-Four: For You, I Am Willing
At night, Gu Xixin arrived as scheduled and sat in a small private room on the second floor. Before long, she saw Gao Muyang, dressed up and looking radiant, running upstairs. Gu Xixin didn't even have time to greet her when she was already shocked by the person behind her. When she saw the two people across from each other exchanging a knowing glance, with the man's eyes gleaming with joy at the corners, Gu Xixin had only one thought: how long had she been abandoned by this world? Such a huge chemical reaction happened right next to her, and she didn't even know!
"Miss Gu, let's formally meet. I'm Murong's boyfriend, Xu Rui." Xu Rui smiled and extended his hand to Gu Zhi Xin.
Gu Xixin still hadn't fully recovered, and when she saw Xu Rui's outstretched hand, she absent-mindedly handed over her own, blurting out a sentence: "When did you two get together?"
Three people sat in a small compartment by the window, with the sunlight that was about to set slanting in through the window and shining on Muyang's smiling face, making her delicate features look so vivid.
The three of them chatted and laughed, and Gu Zixin felt that Mu Yang hadn't been this happy in a long time. Although she smiled every day, the smile on her face today was truly heartfelt and happy.
After dinner, Xu Rui took a look at the time and suggested continuing to find a place to sit down. Several people took a taxi to a nearby KTV and entered a large private room.
Xu Rui made a phone call and invited his own group of friends to come, taking the opportunity to formally introduce his girlfriend. Most of the people who came had met Gu Zixin and Gao Muyang before, so they didn't feel awkward when they saw each other again.
Kang Yue was the last one to walk in. After entering, he saw Gu Zixin and smiled at her with a greeting.
A few people started singing and dancing, a dozen beers were sent in, several people drank more, and the scene was extremely lively with noise and shouting.
Kang Yue didn't say much, and for the first half of the time, he sat on a sofa near the door, quite far from Gu Zhi Xin. It wasn't until later when everyone was drunk that he moved over to sit next to Gu Zhi Xin.
Two people sat on the sofa, neither of them spoke, Kang Yue stared at the TV screen all the time, after a long while, he turned his head and asked: "How have you been lately?"
Gu Zi Xin didn't know how to respond and just nodded, then asked Kang Yue: "How about you?"
Kang Yue was silent for a moment before smiling and saying to Gu Xi Xin: I'm also fine. Gu Xi Xin felt a pang of sadness, because she clearly saw the flash of loss in Kang Yue's eyes when he said those words.
The two of them didn't communicate much later on, just watching a group of people with high emotions talking and laughing, singing along when they came across songs they knew, clapping along when others applauded, and exchanging smiles when they heard something funny.
When a group of people came out of KTV, it was already past 11 o'clock. Gu Zixin felt a bit tired and her enthusiasm was not high. Looking at those big men, they were all drunk and staggering around. Xu Rui was already drunk and couldn't even stand up straight. Gao Moyang had to use a lot of effort to get Xu Rui into the car. After saying goodbye to Gu Zixin and Kang Yue and asking him to take care of everyone, the two of them quickly left.
Gu Xixin and Kang Yue hailed two taxis, sent a few people to the taxi separately, told them the address, and closed the car door.
Kang Yue looked at Gu Zhi Xin and said: "I'll send you home!"
Kang Yue didn't drink today and remained sober from start to finish. At this time, he started his golf cart, which accelerated onto the smooth road.
All the way, Gu Xixin was thinking about what to say to Kang Yue, but didn't know how to start.
Just as she was getting anxious, Kang Yue laughed and said: "What are you thinking about? Your expression is so twisted it looks like you're going to cry?"
"I didn't think of anything, I just felt a little sorry."
Kang Yue smiled silently, his smile as gentle as before.
"Don't say sorry, everything in this world is fair enough, there's nothing you owe to others, as long as you think it's good for yourself, everything is OK."
After hearing him say this, Gu Xiang's heart didn't know what to say anymore.
The car drove all the way to the residential area where Gu Zhi Xin lived, and Gu Zhi Xin got out of the car and stood in front of Kang Yue, her tangled expression still unchanged.
Kang Yue looked at him with a smile, "If you keep making that face when facing me, I really won't dare to see you again, and I'll be very troubled too."
Gu Zi Xin listened and smiled with a slight curl of her lips.
Kang Yue sighed and continued, "Alright, I'll say a bit more. As I said earlier, you don't have to feel sorry for anyone because no one has the right to ask you to do something for them except yourself. So when you can't do some things, no one has the qualification to ask you to feel apologetic." Kang Yue looked into Gu Xi's eyes and continued, "Similarly, in matters of feelings, you don't have to feel grateful to anyone either. I admit that I'm better to you than others, but I never thought that just because I'm good to you, you must repay me with something. Of course, if you can return the same to me, I'll be happy. If not, I also don't have the right to blame you."
"Or perhaps I just want to be good to you, which has nothing to do with you. Now that you're doing well, although I'm not particularly happy about it, I won't hold a grudge either - I still have some sense of reason. If one day you need my help, I'll still show up in front of you. Because I want to."
After Kang Yue finished speaking, Gu Xi's tears were already welling up. Kang Yue was at a loss for what to do and was thinking of how to comfort her when Gu Xi suddenly threw herself into his arms, embracing the still-dazed Kang Yue.
Kang Yue didn't even stretch out his hand, just standing there straightly, allowing Gu Zhi Xin to hug him. In the end, he could only open his mouth in distress: "If you continue hugging me like this, I'm afraid I'll want more."
Gu Xixin heard and reflexively loosened her grip, taking a few steps back. "Sorry... it's not... Ah, although you said it's not necessary, although these two words are too light, I still want to say, thank you."
Gu Xixin returned to the upstairs, washed and opened her mobile phone, only to find that Yin Shu, who had been quiet all day, sent her more than a dozen text messages and made more than a dozen phone calls.
Gu Zi Xin secretly sighed and hurriedly returned to the past.
"Sorry Yoon Soo, I got off work and went out with friends, didn't hear my phone ringing."
Yin Shu's voice didn't change much, still carrying a hint of a smile, and asked: "Do you miss me?"
Gu Zhixin's face turned slightly red and she didn't say a word.
Yin Shouzhen cleared his throat and said: "Is your cold better? Why did you go to work today?"
"I'm all better now, I just couldn't stay in bed at home. What did you do today?"
"There was a small problem in the company, and we had a meeting all day. It was just settled about an hour ago. Have you gone home? Did you have fun?"
"It's okay, I'm going to bed now."
"Alright, you go to sleep early, I'm going to bed too. After a whole day of meetings, my body is almost falling apart. Sleep tight and keep the quilt on."
After saying goodnight to each other, Gu Zixin hung up the phone.
Downstairs, Yin Shu sat in his Maserati until he saw the last bit of light from Gu Zhen's window go out before turning the car around and heading back.
