Chapter 3: The Most Humble When I Like You (Twenty-One)
(This is yesterday's second update, because it was mistakenly posted in the works-related section yesterday, so I'm re-posting it today)
Jiang Lili and the others walked over to Gu Xian, who was curious, Jiang Lili and the others had been pretending to be calm all along, but now they were all in a panic, rushing towards Du Juan, giving her meaningful glances, putting all their hopes on her, hoping she would come up with a good idea to stop Gu Xian's actions.
Du Juan's heart was actually several times more flustered than theirs, she had always been showing a gentle and obedient appearance in front of Gu Xiannian, not wanting to let Gu Xiannian know that she had caught Tang Sugar.
She couldn't forget the coldness of Gu Xiannian when he found out that she was the real culprit who framed Tang Suo. Although Gu Xiannian chose to stand by her side at the last minute, she could see how reluctant he was! She didn't dare let Gu Xiannian find out again that she was up to no good, and she really couldn't guarantee that he would ignore it like last time.
In her anxiety, Du Juan forgot her reserve and grasped Gu Xiannian's hand.
Gu Xiannian's footsteps finally came to a stop.
Jiang Lili and several others finally let out a long-held breath, their tense bodies relaxing as they slowly calmed down.
Gu Xiannian glanced at his hand being tightly held by Du Juan, then shifted his gaze to Du Juan's face.
Du Juan's delicate little face turned bright red, as if it was about to bleed, looking very embarrassed.
"What are you doing?" Gu Xiannian asked inexplicably.
"Class monitor... I..." Du Juan was about to say something but stopped, her face flushing with shyness as she lowered her head. After a long while, she finally said: "I want to ask you out to the movies!"
"Watching a movie? Are you kidding me? A movie is at least two hours long, and with all the homework we have today, if we watch a movie, we won't be sleeping tonight, and we still have class tomorrow. How are we supposed to survive that? I'm not going to make it, big sister, you go by yourself."
After finishing speaking, Gu Xianyuan used his other empty hand to pull Duan Juan's hand away from his own and turned around to leave without looking back.
Only after Gu Xian had walked far away did Du Juan feel at ease and boldly made a victory gesture towards Jiang Lili and the others, then hurriedly ran over to them and urgently ordered: "Quickly take the dead fat pig away from here!" After finishing speaking, she ran onto the road to hail a taxi. Jiang Lili and another girl named Yuan Shan each supported one of Tang Su's arms, dragging her who was unconscious behind Du Juan. The other few people dispersed and went home first.
It's hard to hail a taxi during rush hour, and even if you manage to flag one down, the driver takes one look at the crowd and speeds away.
The cuckoo stood anxiously in the traffic flow, almost shouting at the top of her lungs: "Whoever is willing to give us a ride, I'll pay them double the fare!"
At last a glossy black private car stopped in front of Dujuan, who cautiously retreated two steps back.
The driver of a private car stuck his head out and asked, "Want a ride?"
The driver was a middle-aged uncle who looked very kind and wore cheap clothes, Dujuan guessed that he might be short of money and took the risk of being caught by traffic police to drive a black car.
Although Dujuan had never trusted black cars, the situation was now urgent and the driver looked very familiar, so she couldn't care about much anymore. She helped Jiang Lili and Yuan Shan put Tiantian into the car.
The driver uncle looked at their every move with surprise all the way, his face getting darker and darker, without asking where they were going, but instead meddling in other people's business, pointing at Tangtang who was sitting in the middle of the back seat with her head down, not moving: "What's wrong with this chubby girl?"
Jiang Lili and Yuan Shan sat on either side of Tang Sugar, too nervous to speak.
It was Camellia who, having a father in the government at home, had seen some big scenes and knew how to deal with them. She tried her best to control her inner panic, put on a smile and said: "She's our classmate, she suddenly fell ill just now, we're preparing to send her back home."
The driver uncle shook his head decisively and said seriously: "Not good! Judging from her appearance, the situation seems to be very bad. I think it's more suitable for us to send her to the hospital first, I won't charge you money."
After finishing speaking, the kind-hearted uncle stepped on the accelerator and headed towards the Provincial People's Hospital closest to here.
Azalea gazed at him with a scowl, her mind racing with intense resentment: No wonder he had to come out and drive a black car, the money that was handed to him on a silver platter wouldn't even be earned, and yet he still had to pay out of his own pocket, it's a wonder he didn't die from poverty!
After arriving at the Provincial People's Hospital, the driver uncle kindly helped Dujuan and others carry Tangtang to the waiting hall before leaving.
Three people, Du Juan and others, looked at Tang Tang who was still unconscious on the chair with worried faces, all silently scolding the driver uncle in their hearts for being idle after eating his fill and causing them trouble.
Fortunately, there were so many critically ill patients in the hospital that people had become desensitized and no one gave them a second glance.
The little heart of the azalea has finally calmed down a bit.
Du Juan gritted her teeth and ordered Jiang Lili and Yuan Shan to take Tang Sugar out of the hospital. The two people looked at each other, neither of them moving an inch. Although they didn't say anything with their mouths, they showed through their actions that they didn't want to do it anymore.
Azalea didn't care about their attitude at all, and said with a faint smile: "After the matter is settled, one thousand yuan per person!"
For junior high school students, one thousand yuan is like an astronomical figure. The two of them immediately lit up with excitement, beaming with joy, and walked off arm in arm.
This time, Dujuan hailed a regular taxi at the hospital entrance. The driver was a young man who seemed to be only a few years older than them. He was a greedy guy who was delighted when he heard that Dujuan was willing to pay double the fare. He didn't care about Tangtang, who was still unconscious.
The driver stopped at the entrance of Ziyang Lake Park according to Dujuan's instructions, and after paying double the fare, Dujuan, Jiang Lili, and Yuan Shan dragged Tang Sugar into Ziyang Lake Park.
Because of the commotion in between, the sky had unknowingly darkened completely, and there were not many tourists left in the park at this moment. Even if there were a few tourists who cast curious glances at them, under the cover of night, everything seemed vague and unclear, and did not attract anyone's attention. Dujuan and the others quietly dragged Tangsu to a very secluded corner of the park.
As soon as they arrived at their destination, Jiang Lili and Yuan Shan threw Tangtang to the ground, but Tangtang didn't react at all.
Perhaps it was because the night had gradually deepened, or perhaps it was because doing bad things made her nervous, Jiang Lili suddenly felt very scared. She stared at Tang Sugar, who was lying motionless on the ground, and asked the other two people in a trembling voice: "She... won't be dead, will she?"
Her words were like a powerful atomic bomb exploding between the three of them, and Yuan Shan and Du Juan were both stunned on the spot.
