Chapter 3: The Most Humble Moment When I Like You Fifteen
An electric car was heading straight for Tang Sugar and Gu Xiannian. In a panic, Sugar pushed Gu Xiannian away with all her might. Although the electric car didn't hit Tang Sugar, it brushed past her as she fell to the ground, hurting badly.
She didn't have time to check her own injuries and hurriedly got up to help Gu Xianian who had also fallen to the ground.
His injured foot was hurt again, and it hurts when he moves. He can't even crawl, let alone stand up and walk.
"Here." T'ang Chien picked up the umbrella from the ground and handed it to him.
"What's going on?" Gu Xianian asked in confusion, a thread of worry flashing through his mind - what if she abandoned him here?
"I've got your back!" A big smile bloomed on Tang Sugar's face, and that smile looked very determined.
She squatted in front of him, waited for a while, and saw that Gu Xian didn't make any noise. She turned her head back and saw his hesitant look, so she smiled and comforted him: "Don't worry, I'm very strong. Otherwise, why would I eat so much every day and still be so chubby?" She laughed at herself, trying to lighten the heavy atmosphere.
The torrential rain poured down on her, plastering her hair to her face in tangled strands, and a pair of bright, clear eyes sparkled with a smile as she gazed at Gu Xian Ye, looking slightly timid, as if saying: You don't have to mind, you don't have to feel guilty, I'm willing, I'm happy to do anything for you, as long as you don't dislike me, I'll be content.
For a moment, he felt a little dazed and his eyes were moist. In the end, he still climbed onto her back.
For the first time, two people were so close in contact. Tang sugar heard his own irregular heartbeat, jumping with sorrow and joy.
Last year's school bag was really heavy, probably all boys are like this, looking thin but actually very heavy.
Tang sugar fell twice in a row and couldn't get up.
At the halfway point of the second station, the strength in her body was exhausted, and her two legs went soft. Her body tilted to one side, and she almost fell to the ground with both people. She quickly freed up her hands to support herself on the ground, narrowly avoiding disaster.
"Am I too heavy? I'll get off and walk instead." Gu Xi Nian said with some hesitation.
"No, it's none of your business. It's just that my shoes are not cooperating, they're filled with rainwater and my feet keep slipping inside." Tang Sugar hastily explained, afraid that Gu Xian would get off his back.
For the third time, she gritted her teeth, almost biting out blood, and struggled desperately to get up with Gu Xianian on her back.
"See! I told you I'm very strong!" Tang Sugar exclaimed proudly, panting heavily.
"Mmm!" Gu Xian's reply was accompanied by a thick nasal tone, and she quietly moved the umbrella in her hand to Tang Sugar's head, her whole body drenched, with rainwater flowing freely on her.
Tang Sugar immediately realized it, feeling sweet in her heart, but deliberately pretended to be angry and said: "You don't have to take care of me, I'm physically strong, it's okay, just hold the umbrella for yourself."
But Gu Xiannian didn't listen to her, stubbornly holding the umbrella above her head. Tang Tang felt both moved and worried, afraid that Gu Xiannian would get rained on and feel uncomfortable.
In the past, Gu Xian could clearly feel how difficult it was for Tang Sugar to take every step behind him, trembling and swaying, as if he would fall at any moment.
However, she never fell and incredibly carried Gu Xian back out of Donghu.
Just as she was about to fall, a pair of strong hands grasped the swaying Tang Sugar.
She turned around and exclaimed in surprise: "How are you here?"
On a summer night, without an umbrella, he stood in the rain with a stern face, letting the rainwater ravage his body, not saying a word, and pulled Gu Xian down from Tang Sugar's back.
As soon as he touched the ground, Gu Xiannian's injured foot hurt so much that it went straight to his bones. He couldn't help but let out a loud "Ah!" and grabbed Tang Su's arm tightly with both hands, putting all his weight on her body.
Xia Ye frowned and looked at him with disdain: "Are you still a man or not, getting hurt a little bit and making such a big fuss."
"Summer night!" Tang sugar looked at Gu Xian year who was so angry that he couldn't speak, and suddenly came up with a idea. She clenched a small fist and punched it hard on Xia Ye's back. Xia Ye seemed to be in pain, bent his waist, frowned, and looked at her helplessly.
"He's not faking it, he's really badly hurt! Why did you pull him down?" Tang Sugar said discontentedly to Xia Ye, somewhat resentful of his meddling, and squatted down to prepare to carry Gu Xiang again.
It was a summer night, and Gu Xiannian said that no matter what, she didn't want her to carry it anymore. He handed the umbrella to Tangtang and walked forward with a show of bravado, but fell to the ground in just two steps.
Tang Sugar panicked and threw away the umbrella in his hand, running over to support him.
Gu Xiannian's temper flared up and he gave her a hard push, Tang Sugar sat down in the dirty rainwater.
On a summer night, he rushed over in anger and questioned Gu Xian: "She kindly helped you, but you pushed her. Are you still human?"
His face looked terrifying, as if he was trying his best to hold back the urge to beat Gu Xiannian to a pulp, and Gu Xiannian lowered his head in guilt.
On a summer night, he turned around to help Tangtang, but Tangtang was angry and pushed his hand away, saying coldly: "Don't help us, don't interfere in our affairs!"
Xia Ye listened and coldly laughed: " 'Us'? You consider him as 'us', but others don't consider you as 'us'!"
The words struck a sore spot in Tangtang, and her emotions instantly spiralled out of control. She stood up, pushing Xia Ye away with all her might, her voice rising to a hysterical shout: "Get lost! Get lost! I never want to see you again!"
Xia Ye knew he had misspoken and was so regretful that he couldn't help but want to slap himself a few times! He stood far away, watching Tang Tang look back on past years, but no matter how hard he tried, he just couldn't bear it. Braving the danger of being scolded by Tang Tang, he fearlessly approached her.
As expected, Táng Sū immediately kicked and bit him as soon as she saw him. Xià Yè completely ignored her, stuffed the backpack on his back into her hands, picked up Gù Xiǎo Nián from the ground, slung him over his shoulder, and walked away.
Gu Xiannian struggled to get up, and Xia Ye turned his face away with a fierce scowl, warning menacingly: "Dare you move again? Believe me, I'll smash you to death!"
His appearance looked very ferocious, and Gu Xian was so scared that she didn't dare to move at all, obediently lying on his back.
Tang sugar hurriedly picked up the umbrella on the ground and ran in front of them, holding an umbrella for them.
"What's the big deal if we two grown men get rained on? It's you who shouldn't catch a cold." Xia Ye said gently, his eyes full of doting and adoration, but also with a hint of irrepressible loss.
Xia Ye walked in the direction of his home under Gu Xian's guidance, with Tang Tang running after them.
As they approached a run-down residential area, Gu Xian said, "We're here." Just as he was about to slide off Xia Ye's back, Tang Su stopped him: "Your feet are already in such pain, let us take you home instead. We'll drop you off and leave without disturbing your family."
"In the past, I didn't know why, but he smiled awkwardly and said: 'It's already a lot of trouble for you to send me here, the rest of the way isn't far, I can do it myself.'"
Finally, he got down from Xia Ye's back.
It was early in the summer night and I didn't want to carry him anymore. I said coldly, "You'd better be able to walk." And then let go of him.
Tang Sugar looked at Gu Xian with some concern, he had just taken a step forward when he suddenly crouched down to the ground in pain.
"Don't pretend anymore, I'll just be a good person to the end." Xia Ye looked at Gu Xiannian with pity, didn't say another word and carried him on his back again, asking: "Where are we going?"
He pointed to the dilapidated residential area with a voice as small as possible and said: "There."
Tang sugar and Xia Ye didn't notice his tone.
The two of them escorted Gu Xianyan all the way into his home.
What surprised Tang sugar was that Gu Xian's home was as old and broken as his own residential area, the decoration in the house had been completely damaged for a long time, the latex paint on the wall had fallen off, there was not a single valuable item in the house, even the TV was an outdated model that had been eliminated many years ago.
All of this is quite different from what was rumored.
There have been all sorts of rumors about Gu Xian in Class One, Grade One. Some say he was born into a family of scholars and that's why his upbringing is so good! Others claim that his family is very wealthy, and apart from the school uniform, everything else on him is worth a lot of money. In short, either rich or noble, but who would have thought the reality is actually like this!
To be honest, Tang Sugar was still quite shocked in her heart, but more of it was sympathy. However, she didn't dare to show it out, she knew that boys' self-esteem were all very strong, if she accidentally triggered his disgust, then she would never have the chance to get close to him like today again.
In Gu Xiannian's home, there was only an old grandmother who couldn't even walk, saw them bringing back her injured grandson, extremely happy, insisted on pouring water for them to drink, and was strongly stopped by Gu Xiannian.
On that summer night, he understood that he didn't want them to see his real family situation, so he pulled Tangtang away. From start to finish, he never looked down on Gu Xianye in his heart, but instead sympathized with him like Tangtang did. Sometimes, pretending to be rich in school isn't vanity, but a way to maintain one's fragile self-esteem, just wanting to stand more dignified among classmates, that's all.
Many years later, when the boy had grown into a man, he could face many things calmly, including the poverty of his family. He would remember the vanity of those days and shake his head with a smile, but at that time it was indeed troubling the boy's heart.
Two people came out of Gu Xian's house, the rain was still falling heavily, Xia Ye and Tang Tang shared an umbrella walking in the rain.
After a while of silence, Tang Sugar spoke up: "Where did you go after school?"
"Don't ask, don't ask anything."
Tang suddenly lifted his head, and abruptly noticed a large bruise at the corner of his eye. His heart inexplicably tightened, and he carefully asked: "What's with the injury on your face?"
On a summer night, I suddenly burst out laughing, but that laughter was even uglier than crying. My eyes were shrouded in a layer of misty fog, and I self-deprecatingly said: "What day is today? First, I got into a fight with someone else and lost, then I had to carry my own emotional enemy back home. But what's even more pathetic is that I still have to be met with cold words by the girl I like!"
Tang Sugar was stunned on the spot and stuttered: "You mean..."
"Yes! The girl I like is you!" Xia Ye said resolutely.
