Chapter 3: The Most Humble When I Like You (14)

Chapter 3: The Most Humble Moment When I Like You Fourteen

As soon as the bell rang for the end of the early morning study session, Teacher Qin had just walked out of the classroom when several girls surrounded Tang Sugar's desk, asking about her well-being and offering various words of comfort, but actually wanting to get to the bottom of what really happened.

Tang sugar didn't show a surprised look, she was just like that. When someone made real friends with her, she would be very happy, after all, no one likes to be alone. But when no one paid attention to her, she could sit quietly in the corner and not say a word.

She pretended to be unintentional, her gaze swept over Gu Xiannian again and again.

Gu Xian's expression was very calm, and he seemed to be unaffected by Qin Laoshi's decision, but Tangtang clearly felt a pang of sadness flowing in his chest, only that he hid it well.

This boy, who has always been worshiped by Tang Sugar as a god, actually also has the fragility of adolescence. However, he tries to pretend that he doesn't care and deliberately laughs it off. He also has a strong-willed heart.

At noon when eating, Tang sugar only ordered a meal for one person, sitting in the corner with a mouthful of food, eating listlessly.

Xia Ye walked over, snatched the lunchbox from her hand, and forcibly stuffed his untouched meal into it.

Sugar sugar doesn't work, must be exchanged. She knew that those dishes were Auntie's special instructions to Mei aunt to make for Xia Ye alone, because reading high school was really too hard, nutrition had to keep up.

Tang sugar is a boxed meal that costs 8 yuan per meal, which is subscribed monthly in the school cafeteria. The dishes have been difficult to eat for years, either stir-fried bok choy or stir-fried potato shreds, as if there are only these two vegetables in the world. Occasionally, there is some meat, but it's just a few pieces of fatty pork that tremble when picked up with chopsticks, making people want to vomit at first sight, and it's even worse than what migrant workers eat.

On a summer night, he raised his eyebrows and deliberately pretended to be overbearing, saying: "If you don't like it, just throw it away!" After finishing speaking, he spat a small mouthful of saliva on the canteen rice in his hand, coldly smiling at her: "Do you want to exchange or not?" Without waiting for Tangtang's response, he buried his head and ate the unpalatable school cafeteria food in big mouthfuls.

She pretended to be annoyed and glared at him, but in fact she was warm inside. It wasn't because of the delicious food, but the feeling of being cared about and having someone put her in their heart that felt really wonderful.

Tang sugar finally lowered his head and started eating the lunch of a summer night.

On a summer night, while eating, he chatted with Tang Sugar without lifting his head. Tang Sugar's mind was elsewhere and responded randomly, her eyes uncontrollably sneaking glances at Gu Xian Nian.

Although Gu Xian had suffered a major setback in his life, the girls from other classes still flocked to him. Several of them sat around him in a circle. He was still as gentle as ever, and even more friendly than before. He chatted with them politely, occasionally exchanging glances with Tang Su, whose eyes would suddenly turn icy cold, devoid of any emotion, and douse Tang Su with a bucket of cold water.

Tang Sugar quickly shifted his gaze and focused on eating, but after just two mouthfuls, he couldn't help sneaking another glance at Gu Xian Nian.

"Stop staring, you'll stare him to death and he still won't look at you even on his deathbed, give up, silly girl!"

Tang Sugar's face suddenly turned bright red, Xia Ye's words were rough, but the reason was not rough. The question is, how did he detect it? He had been eating like doing math problems all the time, and hadn't even raised his head halfway through.

Tang Sugar Branch was furious for a while, and with one slap, he sent Xia Ye flying.

All afternoon, Tang sugar had been worried and paying attention to Gu Xian year. He was not like himself, a wild grass that struggled to grow under the stone of fate, tasting all the sourness and bitterness of the world. He was a delicate orchid, treated as a treasure by people, carefully nurtured, now suddenly abandoned in the wilderness, could he really withstand this blow?

But everything seems much better than what Sugar imagined, and Gu Xian looks no different from before, only becoming quieter.

When he was in physical education class, he still played basketball.

The noisy playground, the girls crowded at the edge of the field, their faces flushed with excitement as they cheered on the boys playing basketball, and the pink atmosphere struck Tang Sugar.

However, she didn't dare to stand by the court like other girls, using adoring and admiring eyes to follow Gu Xiannian's handsome figure on the court, fearing his unintentionally cold gaze.

She knew he disliked her, and this filled Tang Su's heart with melancholy.

She stood at the entrance of the school's small shop, pretending to drink a beverage, gazing at him from afar.

Gu Xian seemed to be in a bad state, being knocked down by his own teammates several times, which caused the male substitutes on the bench to boo loudly and the female spectators on the sidelines to sigh repeatedly.

When Gu Xi Nian was knocked down again, the bell rang, and his classmates rushed to gather around the teacher before being dismissed.

Gu Xiannian probably sprained his ankle this time, and he tried to stand up several times but couldn't succeed. The whole basketball court had only him sitting alone on the ground, looking very helpless.

Tang Tang hastily threw the drink she had only taken a few sips of into the trash can and quickly ran to Gu Xian's side, her shadow covering him.

He raised his head, which had been hanging in shame the year before, and saw that it was her. His eyes immediately became very disdainful, as if a noble prince had fallen on hard times and it wasn't for a grassroots girl like Tang Sugar to sympathize with him. That look was warning Tang Sugar: you're not worthy!

Tang Sugar's heart was shattered by this hurtful gaze in an instant, but she still had to pick up the pieces one by one, piling on a forced smile on her face, and said with a flattering tone: "I didn't mean anything else, I just wanted to help you up." Her two eyes stared tightly at Gu Xian Nian, afraid that he would refuse, if so, Tang Sugar did not know where to put her own face.

It's okay, this time, Gu Xiannian didn't use that chillingly cold gaze to look at her, but he also didn't speak, just lowering his head, not wanting to appear weak and incompetent in front of her.

Tang hesitated for a moment, bent down, stretched out his hand, and carefully helped him up from the ground.

Gu Xianni's first reaction when she stood up was to hastily shake off Tang Su's hands, without even giving her a glance, let alone saying thank you. She limped and hobbled towards the team.

Tang Sugar was stunned for a moment, and also ran to the team, silently feeling the residual warmth of Gu Xian's hand in her palm, her heart beating with excitement. Feeling sweet and melancholic.

When school was over in the afternoon, Tangtang was thinking of an excuse to get rid of Xia Ye, and coincidentally, Xia Ye came running to say that he had to go somewhere important and let her go home alone.

Tang sugar happily agreed, this is for the best, she can follow behind Gu Xian's back to escort him home, she worries about his injured leg.

Tang sugar was afraid that Gu Xiannian would discover her following behind him, and he would dislike her even more. He could only follow from a distance, watching as Gu Xiannian walked laboriously ahead, his heart knotting up into a ball. His silhouette in the slanting sunlight of dusk looked so desolate.

It was strange that Gu Xian did not head in the direction of home today, but instead limped into Donghu and entered a dense forest.

Tang Sugar hesitated for a moment, then walked in quietly and saw Gu Xianian squatting on the ground by the lake, burying his head in his knees, his body shaking uncontrollably from crying, like a lost little lamb that couldn't find its companions or remember the way home.

Tang sugar wanted to get close to him, but accidentally stepped on a withered branch, making a crisp cracking sound, which was particularly jarring in the quiet environment. She jumped in fright and looked at Gu Xianian in confusion.

He turned around to see her, his expression hardened, and he struggled to get up from the ground. "What are you doing here? Are you here to mock me? Sorry to disappoint you!"

Every word he spoke was like a knife stabbing towards Tang Suo, but she didn't care, for she saw that the young man's face was covered in tears.

Tang sugar bravely walked over, looking up at him with her head tilted, quietly moving her feet to get as close to him as possible. She couldn't say any comforting words, she just wanted to convey her silent comfort to him.

"Get out! I don't want to see you!" he suddenly yelled at her, and with a strong push, he shoved her away.

Tang sugar was caught off guard, fell backwards and landed on the ground, hitting his head against a tree trunk, feeling a sharp pain.

She quietly stood up, without a word of blame, and forced out a big smile at Gu Xian's regretful and stunned face, indicating that she was fine. Turning around, the tears that had been rolling in her eyes finally burst out.

Tang sugar kept running and ran all the way home in one breath. The sky had unknowingly darkened, with black clouds pressing down.

The sky is dark and it's about to rain.

At home there were only Mei Yi and Tang Xin.

Tangtang put down her school bag, grabbed an umbrella and went out again. Mei Yi grumbled discontentedly behind her: "Just came back and went out again, how can a girl's family be so unruly?"

Tang sugar rushed all the way, and the rain was already pouring down halfway. When she arrived at Gu Xian's place, as expected, he was still squatting there, never leaving.

Tang sugar slowly walked over, using an umbrella to cover himself.

Perhaps feeling no more icy raindrops hitting her body, Gu Xiannian was surprised and lifted her head to see Tang Tang standing outside the umbrella. She slowly got up from the ground, somewhat unexpectedly, also somewhat moved, but more embarrassed to face him. After a long time, she looked away and asked: "How did you come here?"

"The weather has changed, I'm afraid you'll get rained on." Tang Sugar replied cautiously, seeing that Gu Xiannian didn't show any displeasure, she continued with a bigger tone: "We... should head back home, okay?"

In the past, Gu Xian had a difficult look on his face. In fact, after being driven away by Tang Tang, he noticed that the weather was changing and wanted to go home. However, it was unclear whether it was because of squatting on the ground for too long, which affected blood circulation, but the injured foot was so painful that every step was difficult to move.

"My foot..." He bent down, one hand supporting the injured ankle, and muttered.

"Don't worry, I'll support you. Look at me, I'm so fat, I have a lot of strength." Tang Sugar said proudly, propping up Gu Xianian and walking, with almost his entire weight pressed on Tang Sugar's body.

In the past year, Tang sugar looked thin but was actually very heavy. Adding to that, it was raining and the road was slippery, making every step a struggle. However, the distance back home still seemed so long...
