Chapter 3: 08. Take her along to wander
"What?" The cat was puzzled. To be strict, they had only met once before, so why say... Don't leave... such words.
Wei Chi gently pressed her shoulder, and looked into her eyes, with warmth in his eyebrows. He said: "Because I can no longer find another person who occupies my mind like you do, I found that all my painting inspirations come from you, although it sounds strange, but...I think I already cannot be without you."
The cat silently watched him, with a glimmer of light in its eyes.
"I went to Western Jin looking for you, unfortunately you weren't there, I only got this painting. Now that you've finally appeared again, so, Cat Niu, will you be my model?" His eyes were full of sincerity, and Cat Niu felt like she couldn't find any reason to refuse.
She smiled and nodded, her eyes curved like a crescent moon, shining with delight.
At 10 o'clock at night, the hall finally became empty, as if nothing had ever existed and nothing was left behind. After meeting with Catnip, Tracy arranged a room for her to sleep in.
The young man sat on the stone steps at the entrance of the hall, gazing up at the starry sky without saying a word.
By his side, a man in a suit and tie sat with him: "Wei Shao, after this exhibition is over, what are you planning to do?"
"I don't know." He gazed at the endless sky and murmured in response.
"Are you planning on staying? The man lit a cigarette, "or continue drifting."
He turned around and glanced at the man, smiling, "Is Sam trying to persuade me on behalf of Dad? But I don't like staying." His hands were propped up behind him on the ground, "It's better to roam free. No attachments."
"You're only 16 and this time we won't be with you. Tracy and I are going back to England." Sam's tone was tinged with a hint of reluctance, as if he didn't want to leave.
"It's okay, I'll bring the cat with me, so I won't be lonely."
"Meow, is that little girl?" Sam asked incredulously. "Are you going to keep her with you all the time?"
"Yeah, the money she earned from these few exhibitions is enough to cover her tuition fees."
"But..."
Wei Chi smiled and said, "Nothing's wrong, I'll be back anyway."
Sam spat out a mouthful of smoke and smiled faintly: "One day you'll understand, remember. If you encounter difficulties, contact me anytime."
"Hmm." Wei Chi responded softly, gazing up at the starry sky. When he had received that painting from the orphanage, those teachers had told him about the cat's past. He thought to himself that perhaps he could try his best to make her life a little more complete.
The night was very quiet, except for the wind blowing through the leaves, making a rustling sound, and there was no other movement.
When the door was pushed open, the cat hadn't fallen asleep. She was used to keeping her eyes open in the long dark night, watching the world sink into silence bit by bit.
She knew it was Wei Chi coming in, so she didn't make a sound and pretended to be asleep.
He sat on her bed, tucked in the quilt for her, and his fingers brushed against her lower jaw, ticklish, like being swept by a feather.
She heard his voice, with a hint of hoarseness: "Catkins. I want to take you for a wander."
He gazed at her, "From now on, we'll be lonely together... then it won't be loneliness anymore."
"Never mind. You're just a kid, how would you understand?" He helplessly rubbed his hair, "Even I don't understand why I want to be like this..."
"I'm not a kid anymore!" The cat suddenly sat up from the bed, frowning and seriously refuting.
He sprang up from bed at once, a flush rising to his cheeks. "Cough, cough. Weren't you asleep?"
Appearing in a girl's room in the middle of the night, he would definitely be mistaken for a pervert...
