Chapter 7: Let's go, I'll take you home
Street lamps shed dim yellow light along the road. Christmas should be a night of revelry, but it only makes lonely people lonelier.
The boy walked on the road with his head down, his heart still aching vaguely. The white snowy ground was imprinted with his lonely footprints. It was so late that there were hardly any people who would go out, but the snow continued to fall. A gust of wind howled and blew, mixed with snow, like a wailing ghost.
Then the whole person was swept away, and even the eyelashes were stuck with white particles.
Then just leave her alone since she doesn't care anyway.
From start to finish, she had always yearned for that one person, while she herself was just an extra existence that shouldn't have appeared.
Keep searching, but no matter what, you won't be able to find him.
The man thought somewhat ruthlessly, but his body involuntarily stopped in its tracks, standing still and silent in the wind and snow, like a wooden puppet without movement.
The next second, he turned around and ran, his shoes heavily trampling the icy snow water, his pants legs quickly getting wet.
When he returned to that street, the cat was gone. He followed the messy footprints to the park and searched frantically for a while before finding the familiar figure on an abandoned bench.
The heavy breathing gradually calmed down, and the stone that had been hanging in his heart finally landed safely.
The streetlight shone on the broken chair, like a gentle little sun, wrapping its last rays warmly around the girl. Snowflakes fell silently and swirled, with the sound of wind and snow cracking apart in the distance.
She was so tired that she fell asleep, curled up and lying on the long chair, even unaware of the boy's footsteps approaching.
Liang Chen crouched down in front of her, silently gazing at her.
Her eyelashes and hair were all stuck with snowflakes, and the corners of her eyes still had clear tear marks. The boy's dark pupils slowly lit up, something was quietly melting away, leaving only a faint warmth.
He stretched out his hand and gently wiped away the remaining tears from her eyes with a movement more careful than if he were handling a precious treasure.
Then, the boy slowly approached, his face slightly red, and he planted a kiss on her forehead, like a snowflake, gently falling on her brow.
"Let's go, I'll take you home." The boy said, and with a light movement, he picked her up on his back. The cat-like girl felt herself being lifted up in a daze, and instinctively reached out to wrap her arms around the person's neck.
The boy silently carried her on his back, feeling her breath close to his face, blowing against his cheek. He slowly walked with her through the long street of the park, treading over the white snow-covered stone steps, as the snow continued to fall, and the street lamps stretched out their shadows.
How great it would be if time could stop at this moment, letting me carry you forever, walking in the endless snowstorm.
"I really... like you."
Suddenly, the words reached his ears, and the boy's dark pupils contracted instantly. He stopped in his tracks, with an unmistakable look of astonishment and bewilderment in his eyes.
"Ah, finally..."
I really like you, Wei Chi.
So it was... I mistakenly thought it was delayed.
Good day, lightly pulled the corner of his mouth, continued to move forward, lowered his head that moment, eyes gradually filled with an indescribable sadness.
Is it like this? Even if I'm the one taking you home right now, in your heart, it's still him, forever him.
Although it's hard to bear, kitty, you know? At that moment I suddenly understood a truth. I think, as long as the girl on my back can gain happiness and no longer be sad, then even if she will never love me, it doesn't matter.
Liang Zhen continued to carry her back, feeling his way up the stairs without turning on the light. He gently laid her down on the bed and covered her with a quilt. Then he went out and quietly closed the door of the room.
Standing in the dark living room, the mobile phone suddenly rang out of tune. He took out his mobile phone and stared blankly after a glance.
This number... has finally arrived after all.
The boy smiled wryly, hooked up the corner of his mouth, turned off the phone, pulled out the SIM card and broke it, and threw it out the window.
After sitting alone in the dark for a long time, he thought that he shouldn't keep secrets from Cat Niu about Yu Wei Chi's affairs anymore. When she woke up, he would tell her everything he knew.
The next morning, a cold wind blew in from the window and he found himself sleeping in the living room. When he got up, he couldn't help but sneeze.
The cat should also be awake. Thinking of last night's decision, he knocked on her room door.
The cat jumped up quickly from the bed and opened the door: "Wei Chi, you're back!" But when she found it was Liang Chen instead, she sat back down on the bed with some disappointment.
"Was it you who sent me back yesterday?" she asked suddenly.
Liang Chen nodded and was about to tell her what had happened when her phone rang. It was an unfamiliar number from Xijinling Xia.
"Hello?" Not knowing what the other person said, Cat Ni suddenly grasped her phone excitedly, "Wei Chi! Where are you? Are you okay?"
