Chapter Thirty-One
As I walked out of the school gate and turned left, it was the road home. The street was filled with blooming cherry blossoms, petals scattered all over the ground, and on both sides of the road were green lawns planted with grass for people to admire. It was just early summer, but the tender young grass was already struggling a bit under the scorching sun, looking somewhat wilted. Of course, maybe it was because they lacked water.
I couldn't hide the fear in my heart, my footsteps slowed down, and I got closer to Xiao Su. I didn't dare to look up again, but just kept my head down and followed Zhang Ruo Fei's back, not daring to relax my pace at all.
A fox sleeping in the bosom of a beauty, lazily turned over, with its limbs facing upwards, and its eyes somehow glanced at me, opening its mouth to say: "Wasn't that female ghost eliminated by me? Why is it still looking like it's going to die after thirteen generations?"
I didn't want to admit my own weakness, so I pretended to be calm and said harshly to him: "Who... who wants to die?"
"Why are you always walking with your head down? Humans often say, 'Walk tall and proud', so shouldn't you hold your head up high and walk forward with big strides?"
I was too lazy to explain the "dignified" thing to him, and whether it was used at the right time or not, I didn't say anything more to him and turned my head to look forward.
From behind the trees, black shadows kept emerging and jumping towards the middle of the road. The black figures approached, carrying dew on the ground to create human-like shapes, with men and women, old and young, looking no different from people we pass by in our daily lives.
An old man with a head full of white hair and tattered clothes appeared in front, wearing an old off-white yellow garment that seemed to be from the Republic of China era. The sleeves were patched up with many uneven patches, and his chest was stained with blood. As I looked down, I found that he only had an upper body, and from the waist down, there was nothing but empty air.
Here, permit me to use the somewhat impolite term "white-haired devil" to refer to him.
That white-haired ghost saw me and looked at it, with a look of surprise in its eyes. It slowly floated towards me, half of its body floating in front of my eyes, and said in a low voice: "You... are you the descendant of the Xia family's royal demon master?"
I avoided his gaze, pretending not to look that way, and shook my head to look at Xiao Su on the side, feigning a happy expression, and said: "Oh, this fox is so cute! Xiao Su, can you let me hold this fox?"
I have to say, Xiao Su is my best friend. Seeing me like this, the smile on her face instantly disappeared, and she threw a few flirtatious glances at me. I nodded slightly in response to her.
She then resumed her normal complexion and smiled: "Okay! Let me lend you Xiaokeai to hold for a while."
I had just stretched out my hand to take it, using it as a distraction, but unfortunately, the fox in her arms also opened its eyes at that moment, glaring at me with anger and resentment, as if I had ruined its good fortune.
"Don't touch the statue."
The fox lifted its four legs, indicating that I should keep away from it.
"Cut." I gave him a disdainful glance.
Turning back to steal a glance, the white-haired ghost behind him had already left. It seemed that because of the fox's presence here, he was scared away.
Now that the white-haired ghost has left, the tension on my face gradually dissipated. I smiled at Xiao Su and said: "Since the fox likes you to hold him so much, then just hold him!"
"Clear lotus?"
Xiao Su's face couldn't hide her worry, she leaned in close to my ear and whispered: "Is that thing still here?"
"It's gone." I smiled and shook my head at her.
Her face burst out with a bright smile, somewhat complacently saying: "Then I won't give you the Fox Spirit-sama, I still have to hug it more, hoping to get some spiritual energy from its body."
