Chapter Eighteen

  Chapter Eighteen

The green grass is like a carpet, with dew drops glistening on the leaves that reach up to my knees. Fireflies occasionally land on the leaves to rest.

After walking in the grass for a while, my shoes and socks were soaked with dew.

Zhang Yuefeng started off with a lot of poise, holding my hand and walking with me. But as we got closer to the riverbank, his pace quickened, and before long, I was left far behind him.

"Zhang Ruofei, where are you?" I called out his name softly, hoping he would wait for me.

This place is too quiet, it scares me.

But no matter how I called out and searched for him, I couldn't find his figure anywhere.

I slowly shifted my attention, looked up at the sky, and then gazed at the grassland. There were so many fireflies that it could be described as tens of thousands.

There was a gust of wind by my ear, and I felt like something was following me from behind. My gaze still couldn't help but glance at the female ghost dancing on the river surface. At this moment, she had stopped dancing and started grooming herself by the riverside.

I slowly approached her, trying hard to get a clear look at her face, when someone gently patted me on the shoulder.

I think Zhang Ruofei has found his conscience and come back to look for me, so without even turning around, he directly grabbed his sleeve and said: "Zhang Ruofei, you come take a look."

I shouted loudly, and his head came over at once. The air immediately had an additional smell, but this time it wasn't the smell of Yida.

  "What's going on?"

Suddenly, the stinky fox's voice rang out beside my ear.

I was startled and quickly jumped away from him a little further.

  "How could it be you?"

The fox's lips curled up with a cold smile, and then I was turned upside down, carried on his shoulder.

"My goodness, I haven't eaten yet! I stretched out my hand to pat his back, but he didn't react at all and carried me straight towards the riverbank."

"Hey, stinky fox, let me go quickly."

"Let go? Wait until I get to the riverbank and then I'll let you go."

His voice was full of sarcasm, making me shudder all over. Only when we reached the riverbank would he put me down. Was it possible that he wanted to throw me into the river?

"Hey, hey, what are you trying to do?"

I pounded his back with all my might, but this smelly fox didn't react at all. I have to say, the skin of this thousand-year-old fox is really not ordinary hard.

He walked to the riverbank and suddenly put me down, with a "thud" sound. I felt myself lying on the ground, fortunately the grass was thick enough, otherwise I would have gotten stunned.

  "You..."

I struggled to get up from the ground with my hands, and as I managed to lift my body a bit, he stepped on my butt again.

  "Hey...... you damned turtle......"

I hadn't shouted enough when he suddenly fell to the ground, turned his head around and covered my mouth with one hand, his eyes full of amusement.

"You're the one who has touched every inch of my body, and now you're sneaking around with another man in a place like this? Is it...?" As he spoke, his head slowly leaned in towards me, I widened my eyes, wanting to speak up, but my mouth was still tightly covered by him, unable to open, and all I could do was shake my head repeatedly.

"No need for explanation, I thought with your appearance, no man in his right mind would like you, but I was wrong."

When I heard him say that, a glimmer of hope suddenly ignited in my heart, and I couldn't help but want to ask him immediately if he knew who had been secretly in love with me.
