Chapter Nineteen Below

  Chapter Nineteen

Back at the residence, as soon as the door closed, Lin Jing pushed her against the back of the door, and the two of them entwined their bodies fiercely. The shopping bags scattered to one side. Mouse Treasure curiously moved over, uninterested in the adults' fight, stretching out its paws to search for its favorite snack package in the bag.

Zheng Wei responded to Lin Jing's passion without restraint, as if seeking proof of something through each other's body temperature. As he pulled at the only clothes she had on, she gasped and stopped him, "Not here." She was still not used to being so ** in front of Mouse Treasure.

Lin Jing laid her down on the bed, getting straight to the point. Zheng Wei pushed him away and straddled his body, her hair that was tied up for work now loose and falling onto his chest. "Let me be on top."

In the past, Lin Jing would have been delighted to let him do as he pleased, but this time was an exception. He disregarded her resistance, flipped over and pinned her down, thrusting into her. Amidst the heavy breathing, he said, "I still like it this way."

Physical exhaustion sent Zheng Wei to sleep early, in a daze, she and Lin Jing seemed to have started another round of passionate entanglement. She was deeply immersed in pleasure, about to forget everything, when she suddenly heard a voice calling her, "Weiwei, Weiwei..."

She trembled slightly, as if falling into an ice cellar. The passion that had previously made me forget myself was gone. I opened my eyes to find myself floating in the clouds, while Chen Xiao Zheng was standing on a cliff not far away, looking at her coldly.

Chen Xiao Zheng was suspended in mid-air on the steep cliff, supported by only a thin rope that couldn't be any thinner. He grasped the rope with one hand, and as the wind blew past, he swayed precariously. She couldn't see his expression clearly, but she knew those eyes were deep and black to the point of being bottomless. He said, "Wei Wei, if I jump down, will you be hurt?"

  Zheng Wei said, "You won't."

Chen Xiao Zheng smiled, after parting ways, she had never seen him smile so heartily again. "Wei Wei, I walked to this point, but ultimately fell short by a centimeter."

He finished speaking, the rope in his hand suddenly broke, and he fell into the bottomless abyss like a kite with a broken string. "A Zheng!" she cried out in pain. She sat up abruptly, but there was no cliff, no fall, only the warm yellow light of the desk lamp, and Lin Jing leaning against the bed, typing away on her laptop.

"What's wrong, had a nightmare? You're drenched in cold sweat." He wiped the sweat from his forehead with some concern, and only then did she realize that her nightgown was soaked with sweat, clinging to her back.

"Lin Jing, don't go." She lay back down under his comfort, her hands tightly wrapped around his arm.

Lin Jing said, "I'm not leaving, I just need to rush a report. You go to sleep first, listen to me, don't think too much, and you won't have nightmares."

Zheng Wei finally let go, closed his eyes and opened them again, "Did I say anything just now in my dream?"

Lin Jing helped her brush away the hair stuck to her forehead and smiled, "You said you loved me." Deceived! Zheng Wei didn't believe it.

"It's fine if you know." He turned his attention back to his notebook, "You didn't say anything, go to sleep quickly."

Before Zheng Wei fell asleep again, the only memory left was this orange-red light. She forgot whether she had said it or not, but from childhood on, such lights made her feel at ease.

It was rush hour in the morning, and it took about 25 minutes to drive from Er Fen to the Procuratorate. Lin Jing had a habit of arriving at the office a few minutes early, so he usually got up earlier than Zheng Wei. When he left, Zheng Wei was still lying in bed, half asleep. Lin Jing patted her, "Get up, or you won't even have time for breakfast."

Zheng murmured a vague "uh-huh", heard him go out to feed Mousey, then said: "I'll probably be busy till very late for the next few days, if I have overtime I might not come back temporarily, there's still milk in the fridge, remember to drink it."

He closed the door and Zheng Wei suddenly woke up, hugging her quilt and sitting on the bed in a daze.

In the morning, Zheng Wei was waiting at the entrance of the printing room when she met Li Ayi from the labor union. Li Ayi, who had always been concerned about Zheng Wei's love life, smiled and said, "Zheng Wei, this morning I saw that boyfriend of yours going to the garage to get his car again. The young man is really great, handsome and polite, and when he saw me, an old auntie staring at him, he even smiled and greeted me."

This wasn't the first time Aunt Li had asked about Lin Jing, Zheng Wei didn't know what to say and could only use her all-purpose smile.

Auntie Li saw that she wasn't speaking, so with a knowing expression, she said: "What's there to be shy about? You're not young anymore, having someone by your side is the most normal thing. Now it's not like when I was young, when we'd blush just from holding hands before marriage. The social atmosphere has changed, many people live together, and I'm not some kind of old antique. But you've had such a good one for so long, you should have told me earlier, so I wouldn't still be blindly worrying and trying to set you up..."

The small conference room door next to the study was gently opened, and Chen Xiao stood at the door politely saying to Auntie Li, "Chairman Li, sorry to trouble you two to keep your voices down, there's a meeting inside." After finishing speaking, he closed the door again and returned to the conference room.
