Chapter 46: Reunion with Masked Man (Part 1)
One sleepless night, Huo Ling'er lay on the table without spirit. She didn't want to go to class, didn't want to go to the classroom, and even didn't want to leave the gate of the other courtyard. The spiritually and physically exhausted her thought that the other courtyard was her only place to rest.
Originally thought a day's time would be spent in boredom, but unexpectedly, an uninvited guest suddenly appeared in the room.
"Hi, long time no see."
A mysterious masked man stood on the balcony, which was only a few centimeters wide. The soft morning light and gentle breeze caressed his body, and in the sunlight, his slender figure had a subtle elegance, as if he were standing on flat ground instead of high up in the air.
Huǒ Líng'er was covered in black lines all over her head, and she herself wasn't even clear what kind of thoughts she could think.
"Why aren't you speaking? Don't want to see your master?" The masked man jumped down from the balcony, found a spot to sit, picked up the cup beside him and drank the hot tea water. He was as free as he was at home.
Huǒ Líng'er rubbed her temples and pointed outside the balcony "Can I ask where you came from and where are you going?"
What kind of people are they? They've already made her miserable in the midnight game, and now they're coming again? How did he know where she lived? Anyway, it must be some bad guy.
"Don't be so heartless, I just miss you and want to see you."
The masked man leaned back in his chair, looking languid and uncomfortable.
"This is my home."
Huǒ Líng was getting a headache, she was really annoyed.
"Your home is just like mine, so isn't it normal to drink tea in your own home?"
"Don't you have common sense? You're trespassing on private property, I can sue you."
"Oh? Then I'm really scared."
Huǒ Líng'er quarreled back and forth, finally becoming listless too. She considered herself unlucky; he could stay wherever he wanted as long as he sat still and didn't bother her. After Huǒ Líng'er came to a realization, she leaned her head against the table, her eyelids growing heavy, unable to open them.
She didn't plan on letting herself fall asleep just yet, so she picked up a toothpick from the table and flicked it against her finger, causing Huo Ling'er's face to scrunch up in pain.
The masked man saw Huo Ling'er's strange behavior, his eyes slightly sunken, he walked into the room in big strides, snatched the "murderous weapon" from Huo Ling'er's hand, and with a flick of his finger, tapped Huo Ling'er's forehead.
"Self-abuse?"
Huǒ Líng'er hugged her head, wanting to cry in front of him, it really hurts, okay?
"Mind your own business, this is my home, what I do is none of your concern?" Huo Ling'er shouted.
The masked man chuckled and threw away the toothpick, his body leaned in close to Huo Ling'er. His eyes kept sizing up Huo Ling'er's changing expression. "I think you're quite spirited, not sick enough to need a brain check?"
The quiet collapse of the world, Huo Ling'er couldn't catch up no matter how far she chased. She stared at the sudden appearance of the meddling ghost in front of her and thought that it was better not to fight, after all, she wouldn't win anyway.
"What's your intention? Say it and leave."
The masked man casually rested his head on Huo Ling's head, with both arms embracing the stool where Huo Ling was sitting. Suddenly, Huo Ling could clearly hear his breathing.
I'm hungry.
"This isn't a restaurant." Huo Ling'er didn't feel like she was being flirted with, so she didn't bother to respond.
"But I'm hungry and don't want to go."
"Just say you want to play around."
"No way, Chairman Mao said that dating without the intention of getting married is just fooling around. I'm being very serious here."
"Finish eating and get out."
Na and Na Huo's spirit was one that she didn't understand at all, her head was adorned with golden flowers, her footsteps were light and floating, her whole body was weak, she felt like she was going to die, suffocated by anger.
