Chapter 50: Special Ability
I helped the mortal up and placed him on a stool, actually his small stature was like that of a child, it was easy to arrange him. Turning back around, I looked at the stone again, it didn't seem any different from when I first saw it, maybe I just couldn't feel its inner energy.
The coffin was very tense and looked at me carefully:
"The magnetic energy contained in this stone has been leaking out in large quantities, but I don't know what the reason is. It's like a dam that's been opened, and now this room is filled with magnetic energy, just like an inflated balloon that can't be inflated any further. It's going to explode at any moment. Let's get out of here quickly."
"How did you know all this?" I asked.
"I don't know, it was that dwarf who told me."
But that dwarf now seems to be on his last breath, how is it possible that I couldn't hear him speaking?
"Don't think wildly, he's using a special technique to tell me with his mind. He also said that this stone can stimulate our body's nervous system, causing some part of it to mutate instantly, giving us the power of legendary special functions. This is what I translated and told you in a language we can understand. Because he can't control this power either, so he can't tell what part of our body will change. I was modified with my brain, which can receive information from others, it's like telepathy."
"What about me?" I quickly asked him, eager to know what special ability I possessed.
"This still needs to be asked of him." The coffin's eyes slanted towards the mortal man.
When I looked at him again, the mysterious old man was no longer breathing. I didn't know who he was, where he came from, or where he went. I also didn't know what kind of experiences he had in his life, or why he disappeared at this moment after living for thousands of years. But seeing his smiling expression, it seemed like he understood that he finally got liberation. Maybe the existence of this stone made his thoughts eternal, and after getting eternal life, what followed was endless emptiness.
In the past, I saw a science fiction story about a country that invented a rebirth machine. Everyone no longer had to worry about death. One hundred years ago, everyone was excited, but one hundred years later, they felt bored. After another hundred years, they invented war and fought every day, dying and reviving, and they no longer took death seriously. One day, the machine malfunctioned, and people could no longer be reborn. Instead of being afraid, everyone felt relieved and cheered jubilantly.
Brief encounter, we didn't have much to talk about, after all he also died because of us. I respectfully bowed my head and knocked three times, in an instant his body dissipated like smoke.
"Don't look anymore, his very existence is a kind of magnetic energy. Now he has been dispersed by the energy gushing out of the stones and merged with them. We'd better get out quickly now, or this explosion of magnetic energy won't be any smaller than an atomic bomb."
But the mortal has gone, how can I find that opening mechanism? Just as I was getting anxious, I saw a small scroll next to the mortal's skeleton, so I walked over and picked it up. Just as I was about to open it, I was bitten by the coffin.
"What's wrong?"
"Let's go quickly, don't look anymore."
I couldn't feel the powerful energy that the coffin was talking about, so I looked around and found a strange-looking stone. I quickly walked over to it and moved it, revealing a round button underneath. Without hesitation, I pressed it down. The small door we came in through opened, and the coffin and I exchanged a smile before rushing out. As soon as we climbed out of the doorway, we collided with someone, and when I shone my flashlight on them, I was both shocked and delighted - it was our long-missed friend Pengpeng! He no longer had any evil intentions, his eyes were normal, his movements were normal, he looked just like a normal person.
"How did you get out of here?" Pengpeng said.
"And you, you little scoundrel, wrapped yourself in a cassock and escaped, leaving me with only my head, how can I show my face to people now? I still haven't found an object of affection!"
"What are you talking nonsense about? You're a big and capable person standing here, aren't you?"
I looked aside and indeed, the coffin had transformed into a complete person standing there perfectly.
