Four Causes

  Chapter 27: Previous Offense (Four)

The reincarnated child opened the tower gate that had been closed for a long time, took a step out, and Song Sanren quickly blocked his way:

"Master, Master Zhiyuan said you can't leave the tower."

"Oh? Hehe, I actually forgot, just felt that it's a bit too stifling here, and my whole body has no energy. Scattered person, you should also be careful when coming and going every day."

"Master, the ones above will only deal with you alone, they won't bother with someone as insignificant as me. But I'm afraid that once you step out of the tower gate, heavenly soldiers and generals will come to capture you. At that time, even Master Zhiyuan won't be able to protect you."

"A few insignificant little soldiers, I don't even put them in my eyes. Dare to come and I will kill them all." The eyes of the reincarnated child suddenly turned blood red.

"Master, calm down and quickly return to the tower. Your inner energy has not yet recovered, and standing at the gate of the tower has already given rise to murderous intentions. If you go out of the tower, I fear that your demonic nature will erupt and harm yourself. All Bodhisattvas should subdue their minds in this way! For all kinds of living beings: whether born from eggs, or born from wombs, or born from moisture, or born from transformation; whether with form, or without form; whether with thoughts, or without thoughts, or neither with nor without thoughts, I will lead them to enter the state of Nirvana and be liberated. In this way, countless, boundless living beings are liberated, yet in reality, there is no living being that has been liberated. Why? Subhuti! If a Bodhisattva has an ego, a personal self, a concept of sentient beings, or a notion of longevity, then they are not a true Bodhisattva."

In the Buddhist scriptures that the layman was reciting non-stop, his eyes returned to their former calmness, and he turned around and walked back. The layman also quickly closed the door.

"Thanks to you, layman, for reciting the Diamond Sutra these past few days, my mood has finally calmed down. This tower is indeed strange, I've tried many times, but as soon as I approach the entrance, I don't know why, but a strong murderous intent arises in my chest, and I want to kill everyone in the world. But once I return here, I feel a kind of tranquility, like worldly affairs are floating clouds to me. Why is that?"

"Master, Master Zhiyuan said that this tower is called 'Xiao Ye', which means to eliminate all your karma obstacles. Perhaps the demonic nature in your body has some fear, and every time you pass through the gate, you want to rush out of the tower. If it weren't for the master writing the entire Diamond Sutra on the outer wall of the tower with golden paint, I'm afraid that by now you would have disappeared into thin air."

"I thought I was a reincarnated child prodigy, born with a pair of wise eyes, able to see 500 years ahead and know the past 500 years. I had hoped to save the world and be ranked among the immortals, but now I've ended up like this. Alas!"

"Ani Buddha, it seems that today's host is in a good mood. How about playing a game of Go with me?" Suddenly, Master Zhiyuan was standing in front of the two men.

"It is better to obey than to show respect."

The two were already in the midst of a fierce battle, with the tenth game having just ended. As the sun set over the western mountains, the Wheel-turning Boy bowed his hands together in respect, while Master Zhiyuan clasped his hands together in gratitude.

"Heh heh, patron, you've been playing chess with me for many days. Have you gained any insight?"

"It's embarrassing to say, but after playing hundreds of games with the master for several days, I haven't won a single game. The master's chess skills are indeed superb."

"It's not that my chess skills are high, but rather the donor still hasn't let go of his stubbornness. A hundred years ago, when I first played chess with the donor, it was during your youthful prime, and your chess style was invincible, unstoppable. But a hundred years later, you still haven't changed your chess style one bit, always wanting to kill and destroy, leading to mutual defeat. A hundred years ago, it could be said that you were fearless like a tiger, but now, all that can be said is that you're no longer adaptable to the world, still wanting to fight and dominate, but lacking the sharp aura of dominance. A toothless tiger is nothing to be feared."

"Thank you, Master, for your guidance. May I have another game?"

"Haha, Master has already figured it out, this old monk's chess game is already lost. I bid you farewell."

Watching Zhiyuan's figure disappear into the distance, Lunhui Tongzi helplessly shook his head.

  "Master, why such a sigh?"

"Master Zhiyuan is a great monk of his generation, with a meticulous heart that no one can match. Perhaps I am the only worldly attachment he cannot let go of."

"Are you referring to Master Zhiyuan?"

"He has long passed away, this time he came just to advise me to put down that stubborn heart, Anida Buddha."

Outside the tower, Master Zhiyuan had ridden a auspicious cloud flying towards the distant Western Regions.
