Chapter 76: The So-Called Sword Immortal Technique
King Chan let out a sigh, put on his clothes, and sat down at the window with his legs crossed. The moonlight shone down on him, and he began to breathe slowly and steadily. He couldn't help but think back to when he had killed Shao Nan-hua at the State Guest House not long ago. At that time, he had used all his might to unleash his "Breath Becomes Sword" technique, and suddenly, something in his heart had moved.
Suddenly thought of the legendary "Sword Immortal Technique". Unconsciously, it was Jie Liang in front of him.
The art of the Sword Immortal is not actually an illusion, it has existed since ancient times. However, it's not like the characters in Tang Dynasty legends such as Jingjing'er, Kongkong'er, Hongxian Niang and Nie Yinniang who could practice swordplay to become a ball, spit out a white light from their mouth, and behead someone thousands of miles away. This is just nonsense, absurd words on paper, not worth believing.
In the field of martial arts, the skills of swordsmanship have always been difficult to come by, and the way of the sword immortals is even more secretive, with very few people knowing about it. Since modern times, martial arts have declined, and those who practice sword fighting are as rare as stars in the morning sky. Ordinary people can only catch glimpses of records in some legendary stories, which are always vague and mysterious.
However, Wang Chan knew that the world really had a "Sword Immortal" lineage, but this lineage's kung fu inheritance was indeed secretive. Each generation's successor had to hide in the deep mountains and spend a lot of time and energy to refine their sword skills. Many people didn't even leave the mountain once in their lifetime, they were truly reclusive.
And the so-called "Sword Immortal" is by no means a divine being, but rather someone with extraordinary sword skills, who is revered and worshiped by people as if they were a deity. The name "Immortal" is thus spread far and wide. The common phrase "a flash of white light, swords flying out of the mouth" is actually nothing more than a figment of imagination in storytelling.
Although there are sword immortals, they are not as described above, but simply exaggerated and distorted.
"The practice of swordsmanship should not precede the cultivation of one's vital energy, and the cultivation of vital energy must begin with the storage of spirit. The initial achievement of storing spirit is based on consolidating one's essence. Only then can one discuss the methods of practicing swordsmanship; otherwise, it is just a waste of effort. Few people become perfect in this way."
The swordsmanship of the Sword Immortal is actually a school of internal martial arts, which is said to use the spirit to control the breath, and the breath to control the sword. From a hundred steps away, one can kill an enemy with a single move. In the Wudang Internal School, there is a sect that specializes in cultivating the Sword Immortal's flying sword technique, commonly known as "Hundred Steps Flying Sword".
This was mentioned in Gan Fengchi's annotated version of the "Dacanqi Secret Book", and this Dacanqi skill is actually the foundation of Xianlian Sword. After Wang Chan's internal skills were fully developed, he used the method of Dacanqi to spit out a mouthful of air from his mouth, which appeared as a white light to outsiders, sharp as a sword, and in ancient times it was mistakenly believed to be "flying swords".
The only difference is that the real sword fairy practices sword with a method similar to Taoist qigong, both of which use the sword as an external elixir for practice. In between, it also requires daily washing and soaking with precious and rare medicinal materials, the financial and material resources spent are simply unthinkable, and it's even more difficult to practice than any fist or martial art in the world.
All things in the world have spirituality, and the five elements and beautiful jade are the same. As time passes, people will naturally communicate with each other. In ancient times, famous swords and knives that killed more people would naturally emit a chill on their blades, even on hot days, making people feel like they were falling into an ice cave. They were much sharper than when they were first cast in steel. The reason is that the weapon had absorbed fresh blood and gained spirituality.
This kind of soldier's soul is the most suitable material for refining the Sword Immortal's sword.
Wang Chan also practiced martial arts with a large spear, but the ancient art of wielding a large spear was lost during the Song Dynasty when Yue Fei disappeared. The only remaining martial art is swordsmanship, which has been passed down because many people practice it and have received attention from countless predecessors. Wang Chan actually didn't want to practice swordsmanship either.
I just feel that the Guibin Pavilion is not perfect, and I want to refer to some Taoist methods in the three volumes of Huangting Jing to see if it can be improved.
The Taoist practice of refining Qi emphasizes that stillness is superior to movement, and mental stillness is superior to physical stillness. The soft and gentle Qi is like the harmony of Yin and Yang, the cyclical rotation of Taiji, circulating endlessly, the way of nurturing life permeates from beginning to end, seeking a path of longevity and eternal vision.
Wang Chan sat cross-legged in front of the window, his body and mind inwardly gathered. His two hands moved up and down, pinching the Nine Palaces Finger Seal, his whole body relaxed and empty, with a bright light shining inward. Even his eyes were slightly closed together, his lower abdomen's dan tian rising and falling slightly. Slowly, he breathed in and out according to the Wu Dang Da Quan's breathing method, interspersed with the "Ba Wang Xie Jia" method of tempering the five organs from the horizontal practice, as well as the Daoist Small Heavenly Cycle's true inhalation and exhalation technique. These several extremely brilliant qigong methods were slowly transformed in his mouth, his hands moving freely, seemingly random and without pattern, yet after a moment, they were unexpectedly merged together by him, his facial expression appearing extremely comfortable and natural.
But in fact, Wang Chan's body at this time was not as calm and peaceful as his appearance suggested. On the contrary, with each breath, it was like a mountain call, a sea roar, gathering thunderclouds, flashing lightning, and the true internal energy of the five organs and meridians seemed to have gone mad.
Gradually, as Wang Chan's breathing speeded up, the air in front of him seemed to turn into rolling waves, and with one gulp, it was like a tidal wave crashing, his belly drumming like a frog. With one exhalation, the powerful energy turned into a gust of wind, cutting through the air like a knife slicing silk. The extremely strong internal pressure tightly wrapped around Wang Chan's five organs and six bowels, causing the skin on his body to rise and fall, as if it was being crushed by a heavy object.
"What's up, hey!"
"Breath sinks down and body becomes light, spirit resides above and heart gives birth to wonder, essence is always solid and the method is practiced, form empties itself and mystery gives birth to subtlety."
Suddenly, Wang Chan's mouth rapidly spat out a few dull syllables, shocking the air into a chaotic response, and then a sentence from the Huang Ting Jing suddenly flashed through his mind.
This contains the essence of "essence, spirit, heroism, and wonderful form, light and spiritual". A brief conversation, just a few words, can clearly explain the fundamental principles of Taoism.
The scripture says that the three treasures of human body, Jing, Qi and Shen, are solid outside and strong inside, calm heart and peaceful spirit. If you want to be a superior person, don't take shortcuts. The key is to learn from foolishness, when practicing Qigong, keep your mind pure like rotten wood, unseen, unheard, guard the physical body firmly. Don't move or disturb the sincere intention of the heart. After achieving these points, you will naturally be able to cultivate wisdom in stillness and understand the mysteries.
King Chan's breathing between his mouth and nose was continuous, often lasting two or three minutes at a time. His entire body, including his skin, moved with each breath, expanding and contracting, rising and falling. Even the pores on his skin seemed to open up, like thousands of mouths and noses, inhaling and exhaling together.
He spat it out. His breath exploded like thunder. His whole body shook, Wang Chan's chest and abdomen merged in front of his chest, sticking to his back, as if the five internal organs and skeleton had disappeared from his body. The entire person seemed to be made of rubber. With another intake of air, all the pores on his skin opened with a "whoosh", his muscles swelled red like blood, making a hissing sound, like hundreds of rivers entering the sea.
"Ah!"
"Suck"!
A sound of breathing came out from Wang Chan's mouth and nose, exhaling like the wind, inhaling like thunder. His lower abdomen was like a vortex of wind, thunder, and lightning. As he breathed in and out, the amplitude of his body's ups and downs also became larger and larger.
In the end, every time he inhaled and exhaled, a powerful force stirred up Wang Chan's body, causing his vital energy to flow wildly like a whirlwind on flat ground. Two white streams of air shot out from his nostrils, entering and exiting as if they were solid objects, truly resembling two shining sword lights.
This is the true internal energy wrapped in his body, under the wriggling and squeezing of the five organs and six viscera, directly compressed and condensed into two small finger-thick "true breaths".
Negative Pole is not the ordinary meaning of gas, but rather infinitely close to what Taoists call "Pre-Heavenly One Gas". Wang Chan's fist method and martial arts had already been greatly accomplished in Neijia, now being inspired by the Sword Immortal's technique, he took his lifelong learning of one body of gongfu, removing the dross and preserving the essence. After a round of breathing exercises, unexpectedly, he had already stepped half a foot into the "Dan Dao" gate.
When a person is in the womb or just born, there is no distinction between good and evil. The body is filled with innate energy from birth, but at that time, no one understands the difference between innate and acquired nature. If it weren't for the help of a high-level master to collect and refine this energy, as time goes on, the person will become an ordinary person, just like everyone else, without exception.
But Wang Chan is now using his own twenty years of boxing accumulation, in reverse after heaven.
Moreover, the path he walked was not the traditional Taoist method of embryo breathing, which closes the mouth and nose to force breathing through the skin pores. Instead, his inhalation and exhalation were even more intense and fierce, like a hurricane approaching, but with a still center. Wang Chan's approach was almost "rebellious". He used the power of breathing to mobilize the five organs, like a golden toad spitting out air, with a single thread controlling the weight, expelling all stale air from his body while rapidly inhaling and exhaling anew.
A work written by Bi Kun, a swordsman of the Ming Dynasty, "Hunyuan Sword Classic", is a classic for the cultivation of Taoist sword immortals. It contains the theory that "without sufficient essence and energy, one cannot be clear; without sufficient energy, one's spirit cannot be nimble. Without internal essence, energy and spirit, and external tendons, bones and skin, all becoming one, the body cannot be light."
In the context of boxing and martial arts, this refers to the relationship between tendons, bones, skin, and hair, as well as the circulation of qi and blood among the five organs and six viscera. When the spirit is complete and the energy is sufficient, one's vitality will be long-lasting; when the energy is full, breathing will be fine. When the spirit is clear and calm, and the body is harmonious and balanced, then life will flourish.
Refining and transforming the essence, qi, and spirit is the transformation of post-heaven into pre-heaven.
Penetrating all the mysteries of oneself, the inside and outside of the physical body blend as one, every inch of the entire body can be controlled at will, moving when needed, stillness when needed, softness and firmness complement each other, yin and yang harmonize.
Only then can one transcend the ordinary and enter a state of sagehood, thereby being able to stay with the multitude while remaining high-minded.
Wang Chan Meng opened his eyes, and it was as if two flashes of lightning had struck in the dark night, illuminating the empty room with a faint white light.
One hand grasps the sword finger and points to the void, one hand presses on the dantian lower abdomen, turning 36 circles forward, reversing 36 circles, like the movement of yin-yang fish, Taiji is generated.
His mouth and nose exhaled white air that was as agile as a snake, the breath around his body gradually converged to one place, all coming and going from the nostrils. The pores on his skin were closed at this time, his muscles were like jade, as if there was no hole, only the bright light in his eyes was electric, and the white air in his nose pierced the sky.
In the end, he breathed more and more slowly, finally hanging on with one breath, like a single strand of hair holding up a mountain of 100,000 pounds, and the man also jumped up from the ground and stood at the root of heaven and earth.
In an instant, Wang Chan only felt his five internal organs stirring, a white light flashing in his chest and lungs. His tendons, bones, skin, and hair, as well as his vital energy and spiritual awareness, all merged into one at this moment, with no distinction between inner and outer. A breath of air rose from the lower abdomen, passed through the throat, and he couldn't help but open his mouth to let out a mighty roar.
As soon as he stood up, a white gas swept over, and the large floor-to-ceiling windows immediately turned to dust and smoke.
A hole as big as a person has been broken open. The cool midnight wind is pouring in!
So refreshing and exhilarating!!!
Thank you all for your support, Lao Lu bows to you!!! Suddenly received a call from my wife, saying that her sister's family is coming to visit, so I can only write this 3,000+ words today. The chapter I uploaded is about Wang Chan's transition from martial arts to Xian Dao cultivation. So the plot is not much, but it cannot be omitted, please forgive me! Tomorrow will involve the real turning point. If my sister-in-law's family doesn't have other things to do, Lao Lu will make up for today's deficiency tomorrow!!! Please forgive me!!!
