Chapter 19: What Happened to Jiang Yun?
After a hazy breakfast with Fang Wenke, he sent me to the dormitory building.
"Baby, do you have class this afternoon?" Fang Wenke stroked my forehead.
"No, just two classes this morning."
"Let's go have dessert at noon! Then we'll go for a stroll in the park this afternoon!"
"Brrr? It's really windy and chilly outside! If you're really bored, why don't you come with me to the bookstore instead? I want to buy a few books to read." I couldn't help but rub my hands together and shiver.
"Okay! It's settled then, call me after class at noon, baby."
"Uh-huh, uh-huh, okay, bye-bye!"
After saying goodbye to Fang and Ke, I ran all the way back to my dormitory, and also brought back four portions of wontons for my roommates, who are probably still sleeping now!
I had just walked up to the third floor of the dormitory when I was invaded by a piercing barrage of curses that assaulted my nervous system.
I reflexively ran towards the dormitory because I was all too familiar with whose voice that scolding sound came from, who else but Lin Yishui, the tomboy.
I rushed to the dormitory door, but was chilled by the scene in front of me: Lin Yishui was grabbing Jiang Yun's hair like a madman and slamming her towards the wall, while Jiang Yun struggled with tears on her face.
I threw down the wontons in my hand and ran forward to stop Lin Yishui and Jiang Yun's quarrel.
I'm well aware that in order to stop this war, I must first subdue the powerful Lin Yishui.
But later I found out that this decision of mine was wrong.
"Lin Yishui! Wake up!" I used all my strength to pull Lin Yishui out of this tearing, I tightly grasped Lin Yishui's shoulders and loudly shouted her name. Jiang Yun also stopped struggling at this moment.
Lin Yishui saw me and perhaps still had some sanity left, she suddenly stopped her hoarse shouting and stared at me blankly.
In that instant, I saw the collapse in her eyes and also saw the red ** falling down non-stop on the right side of her forehead.
In the next second, Lin Yi fainted into my arms.
At this time, Jiang Xiaoqiao ran into the dormitory with a first-aid kit she had just borrowed from the opposite dormitory, and hurriedly stopped Lin Yishui's head bleeding. Liang Xue also brought the teacher on duty downstairs up.
I looked at the people and things in front of me in confusion. I had only been away for an hour, but what exactly happened during this one hour?
Lin Yishui remained unconscious in my arms, while Liang Xue told the teacher on duty about the whole ordeal. Jiang Xiaoqiao was busy stopping Lin Yishui's bleeding, while Jiang Yun stood still, her hair disheveled and her mind blank.
Looking at this chaotic scene, a strange anger burst out from my chest.
I completely ignored the teacher on duty, and angrily shouted at Jiang Xiaoqiao and Liang Xue: "Jiang Xiaoqiao! Liang Xue! When those two were fighting earlier, did you guys still have the mood to go find medicine and look for teachers? If I had come in a little later, wouldn't Lin Yishui be dead by now!"
After hearing my accusation, Jiang Xiaoqiao and Liang Xue didn't say a word, the teacher on duty was also stunned, but Wang Yanfen, who had been standing at the door watching the commotion, spoke up: "Weiming, you misunderstood Jiang Xiaoqiao and Liang Xue. They tried to break it up earlier, but it was no use! Just look at Jiang Xiaoqiao's arm, that long gash was cut by Jiang Yun with a fruit knife."
I quickly turned around, grabbed Jiang Xiaoqiao's arm and found a 10-centimeter-long cut. Fortunately, it was only the outer layer of skin that was broken, and not much blood had flowed out.
It seemed that I had scared Jiang Xiaoqiao, or maybe it was Jiang Xiaoqiao who was frightened by this early morning experience. She burst into loud sobs, and her crying echoed throughout the entire third floor.
"Alright, let's not worry about what happened for now. Let's first send our unconscious classmate to the hospital! Come on, I'll carry her downstairs." The teacher on duty saw that things were not looking good and immediately made a decision. He carried Lin Yishui and rushed towards the staircase.
Jiang Yun still stood one meter away from me, her head down and disheveled.
I looked at Jiang Yun, not knowing what to ask, nor what to say, or what to blame.
Jiang Xiaoqiao continued to wail loudly in her ear, while Liang Xue followed the teacher on duty and ran out.
I walked towards Jiang Yun, lifted her pointed chin with my right hand, and as her head rose, Jiang Yun's gaze also shifted from the ground to my eyes.
At this moment, we were staring at each other, and I clearly saw the disdain in her eyes.
In the third second of our eye contact, I didn't know whether my next move was spontaneous or unconscious, I raised my right hand and slapped Jiang Yun's left cheek heavily.
Jiang Xiaoqiao's crying, the noise in the corridor, and the discussions at the door all stopped abruptly after this loud slap.
"Li Weiming, what right do you have to hit me? What qualifications do you have?" Jiang Yun finally spoke up, with her anger.
"It's all because you hurt Lin Yishui! It's all because you made her bleed!" I refuted her with great effort, but slightly lacking in conviction.
"Is that so? Then when you made my heart bleed, shouldn't I have slapped your face too?" Jiang Yun left these words behind and then pushed me away, walking out of the dorm room.
I continued to think about Jiang Yun's words alone on the spot, had I ever made her heart bleed? What did those words mean?
I stared blankly at the strands of black hair on the ground, and a few scattered drops of fresh blood. The blood was Lin Yishui's, but the hair could have been either Lin Yishui's or Jiang Yun's.
