Chapter Eighteen: An Accidental Encounter
At 5 o'clock in the morning, I opened my sleepy eyes and saw a faint light through the corner of the curtains. The sky outside had already lit up.
I quietly got dressed and ready, almost in zero decibels, for fear of waking up these sleeping gods.
I quietly closed the anti-theft door of the bedroom, took a look at my phone, and it was exactly 5:30.
Walked out of the bedroom and started my daily morning exercise routine.
When going downstairs, still greet the gatekeeper as usual, and then walk out of the dormitory building.
This morning started with a thin layer of hazy fog, looking soft but the air isn't very good.
I walked quickly towards the football field, but was stopped by a familiar voice behind me after just a few steps.
I turned around, it was Fang Wenke, he was wearing a sporty outfit with a zip-up front and running towards me, his face still had a bit of childish innocence.
"I almost didn't get up! It was really just a little bit! Luckily I set four alarms! Haha!"
Fang Wen Ke rushed towards me with a showy expression, boasting about his experience of getting out of bed. I carefully observed his appearance of being forced to get up.
His upper eyelid was still slightly swollen, and his face still had a hint of puffiness. I felt both heartache and flattered.
"How did you get up so early? And you even came to go for a morning run with me?" I looked at him in confusion.
"It's so much fun being with you! I want to be a part of every experience in your life!"
"It's not easy for you, young master, to get up so early! After running, I'll take you to eat wontons. I have them every morning!"
"Alright! Alright!" Fang Wenke replied like a child, slightly different from his usual demeanor in front of others. Perhaps when men truly fall in love, they all become children again!
"But there's one condition, if you can catch up with me!" After saying that, I took off running and left Fang Wenke far behind.
It was probably because Fang Wenke hadn't fully woken up yet, so he spaced out for a long time before suddenly rushing towards me, saying "For the sake of wontons! I'm going all out with you!"
When I ran to the football field with Fang Wenke, I sat directly on the ground. The artificial turf on the ground was a bit damp, possibly due to the fog.
"Why didn't you run? Does this count as me winning now?" Fang Wenke scolded, panting and squatting beside me.
"I'm done for, I've run out of breath, I'll slow down."
After Fang Wen Ke knew I was having cramps, he immediately used his long and warm hands to rub my stomach, the scene looked like he was caressing a pregnant woman's belly, and told the baby inside: "Baby, I'm your dad."
I quickly broke free from Ke's hand and suddenly stood up from the lawn, because I saw that man jogging on the football track.
I remember the figure, he was the grandson of that kind old man who lent me an umbrella on a rainy day, and the owner of that black umbrella. I vaguely recall his name being Zhao Jun, a senior in the accounting department of the School of Management, class 6, a third-year student.
Fang Wenke was startled by my sudden movement, he saw that something was wrong with me, and followed my gaze to Zhao Jun's direction, and said to me: "What's wrong? Do you know Zhao Jun? He is the president of our Taekwondo Club."
"Do you know each other?" I immediately pulled back my wandering mind and asked Fang Wenke.
"Ah! It's our senior from the third year of our department! Both I and Zhu Yang are learning Taekwondo with Zhao Jun!"
Fang Wenke seemed to realize that she had mentioned a name that she shouldn't have, and immediately covered her mouth with her hand, looking at me with a ferocious expression, as if afraid that I would get angry or displeased.
"It's okay, don't be so nervous. I'm no longer infatuated with Zhuyang. Since I chose you, I will take this relationship seriously!"
Fang Wenke seemed to be filled with surprise at my answer, he suddenly picked me up and spun around three or four times before putting me down.
Looking at Fang Wenke's smile that couldn't be contained, I still thought of Zhu Yang's confession to me back then, their smiles were so similar.
"So how did you and Zhao Jun get to know each other? Should we go say hello to our senior?"
"I don't know Zhao Jun personally, it's just that his umbrella has been in my dormitory and I keep forgetting to return it to him."
"An umbrella? What umbrella?" Fang Wenke looked at me in confusion.
"It's a long story, I'll tell you later. No more, it's getting too late, let's go eat wontons instead!" I pulled Feng Wenke's hand and headed towards the door.
"Aren't you running away? What about the umbrella? Aren't you going to return it to Zhao Junxue?" Fang Wenke stopped again and pointed in Zhao Jun's direction.
"Let's talk about it later! The umbrella is in my dormitory, I'll return it to him when I have time to go to Zhao Jun's class."
"You'd better give me the umbrella! I'll help you deliver it to Zhao Jun! I'm afraid you'll run off with another man again!"
"You win!"
I glared at Fang Wenke and then went with him to the snack bar near the school gate.
As I left, I turned back to look at Zhao Jun on the playground, and coincidentally, Zhao Jun was also looking in my direction and Fang Wenke's.
In those eyes, it was as if telling some story, and I didn't think much of it.
