Chapter Thirteen The Third Party
We were all startled, withdrew our gaze and looked towards the source of the sound. A woman with a child in her arms, with hair dyed orange, wearing black high-heeled boots, face red with anger, stood at the company entrance.
"Yang Xiaofei! How could you do this to me?! Look at this poor child, look at me! Have some pity on us mother and daughter!" The woman grasped the child's armpits with her hands, shaking him back and forth like a flag in the wind, the two-year-old child wobbling from side to side like a doll. Her shrill and mournful voice pierced through the empty air, the child sucking on his tender fingers, wailing away. The woman reached out and roughly wiped the child's cheek, pried open his fingers, then clicked her high heels on the ground as she marched towards me and Yang Xiaofei.
I couldn't help but feel a wave of panic, and inexplicably thought of the online videos of strong wives slapping their husbands' mistresses, my heart racing with anxiety.
"Wow... Yang Xiaofei! Lili and I were still counting on you to make a living! You can't treat me like this, are you going to let us two women live or not!" But unexpectedly, the woman walked up to Yang Xiaofei and suddenly burst into tears, her shoulders shaking exaggeratedly, with tears streaming down her face like pear blossoms in the rain, making people look on with a mix of amusement and heartache.
Yang Xiaofei, however, remained calm. He simply bit his lip, furrowed his brow and silently stared at the woman in front of him, his expression growing increasingly stern. Then, he turned his head and gave me a complex glance, nodded resignedly, lowered his head, didn't say a word, and suddenly turned around, lowering his head deeply, striding out with big steps.
"Hey, Xiao Fei! Xiao Fei! Wait for me! Wait for me and Lily!" The woman came to her senses and immediately hugged the child, like a clumsy mother duck, closely following behind. Just as they reached the door, she turned back, with tears still on her face, but her eyes shot out fiery sparks.
"I'm telling you! You shameless thing, don't be so thick-skinned! I and Xiao Fei are already married! Give up on that idea!"
The woman's loud footsteps had been echoing in the building for a long time, like a hammer that kept pounding on my heart.
When the footsteps faded away, the entire building returned to silence. I sat blankly in my seat, and the scene just now seemed like an unreal farce, a bit sudden and absurd. My dull brain was momentarily unable to make a correct judgment.
In the windows of the high-rise building not far away, different lights are shining, with miserable white, orange red, yellow, and constantly changing into colorful ones. They are like children who are good at showing themselves, competing with each other, flashing in the black sky. But no matter how hard they try to show off, no matter how hard they blink their eyes, they can't feel any beautiful atmosphere, and the whole building looks like a beggar in tattered clothes, wearing clothes with patches of different colors.
Clothes of different colors?
My brain seems to have touched something, I am thinking hard in my mind, trying to think of those familiar colors of clothes that seem to have been seen before.
