Volume 1 Chapter 20: Going Crazy
Lin Junyun's family, Kong Yuemei returned home and told Lin Junyun about the whole thing. When she mentioned that Pang Guang was suspected of robbing the Dawn Art Manager Company, Lin Junyun became restless. His first thought was that he had wronged Pang Guang. In fact, Pang Guang was not a bad person, and despite being tricked by Lin Junyun multiple times, he did not get truly angry, but instead compromised again and again.
Lin Junyun supported his face and thought for a long time about the what-ifs: "If it weren't because I had to help my useless mother pay off her debts. If it weren't because I thought Pang Guang was an easy target, then none of this would have happened. Before, I thought he was a pervert, but just now, nothing happened, and I'm clear about that in my own mind. He really didn't take advantage of me."
"Jun Yun, Jun Yun, are you okay?" Kong Yue Mei saw Lin Jun Yun suddenly stop talking and called out to her ear, but Lin Jun Yun seemed to be in a trance, not hearing anything.
Lin Junyun thought and thought, his eyes gradually becoming moist: "Pang Guang, you're a good person, have you gone home or been caught by the police? It's all my fault."
"Junyun, what's wrong with you? Don't scare Mommy." Kong Yue Mei looked at Lin Junyun in alarm, fearing that her illness would make her stupid. She stretched out her palm and waved it back and forth in front of Lin Junyun's eyes to get her attention: "Junyun, wake up, it's almost dawn. Today I'll make breakfast for you, just say what you want to eat. After breakfast, I'll take you to school together to see that fierce-looking principal. When we meet him, I don't know how to explain things."
"Mom, I'm fine, I'll go make it. How about plain porridge and salted vegetables? It seems like there's nothing to eat in the fridge." Lin Junyun came out of his thoughts and heard Kong Yuemei's words, and he couldn't help but smile wryly in his heart. Since he was old enough to understand things, he had always been the one to take care of breakfast at home. Would she know how to make breakfast? Every day, she wouldn't come back until it was almost dawn, and that time wasn't him making it for her to wait. If he relied on her to make breakfast, he would have starved to death long ago.
"Good, don't put scallions." Kong Yue Mei smiled knowingly.
"Mom, plain porridge doesn't need scallions, and even if it did, you can't pick them out to eat. The book says that scallions kill E. coli. You often eat unclean things outside, so you should eat more spicy food to kill bacteria." Lin Junyun teased.
"Really?" Kong Yue Mei was a bit embarrassed: "It's still better to read books, when it comes to talking, it's all in one go. Alright, from now on, mom will only eat scallions when eating."
Lin Junyun was speechless with anger by Kong Yuemei, and shook her head with a bitter smile. She got up and went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast. As she put the rice in the pot, she made a decision: no matter what, she would help Pang Guang, even if it meant taking all the responsibility on herself. She knew that robbery was a serious crime, and being expelled and imprisoned were inevitable.
The next day, Kong Yue Mei took Lin Jun Yun to knock on the door of the school office. Since it was already after class time, there were only a few teachers sitting at their desks preparing lessons. After searching for a while, Kong Yue Mei saw Director Li sitting in the innermost cubicle and pulled Lin Jun Yun along with a smile on her face: "Good morning, Director Li."
Director Li put down the newspaper in his hand, looked at his watch and frowned: "It's almost ten o'clock. As a parent, one should set an example and cultivate children's sense of time."
"The director said that next time I will definitely pay attention!" Kong Yue Mei nodded her head like a small chicken pecking at rice, glanced around with the corners of her eyes, and didn't see Pang Guang and his son. She felt unhappy in her heart: it's almost ten o'clock and they still haven't arrived!
"Huh?" Director Li rubbed his eyes and looked at Kong Yue Mei seriously: "Is there a next time?"
"You misunderstood me, I'm saying that from now on I'll set a good example myself." Kong Yue Mei secretly stuck out her tongue and shook her head repeatedly to explain.
"Uh-huh, that's right. You guys wait a minute, Pang Guang's parents just called and said something unexpected came up, so it'll be a bit later."
"Never mind, let's just wait then. We're not in a hurry." Kong Yue Mei felt stifled, why did others get to be a little late?
After a while, Kong Yue Mei asked tentatively: "Do you think Jun Yun can go back to class first? High school students have a lot of homework, I'm afraid she'll fall behind if she doesn't catch up."
"Do you still want to attend class first? Let's talk about it after we've dealt with this, if you can just get a major demerit and not be expelled, you should be grateful. Director Li took off his glasses: "This parent, although the school does not oppose high school students dating, it also does not encourage them to fall in love during their studies, which is distracting. Not only did they fall in love, but they also did something that harms social morals, what kind of example is this? If others follow suit, should the school still continue to operate?"
"Leader, it's all a misunderstanding..." Kong Yuemei explained.
Director Li waved his hand to interrupt Kong Yuemei's words: "Alright, it was a misunderstanding. The school will investigate."
Director Li's words drove Kong Yue Mei crazy, she decided to go all out, and didn't care that there were still several pairs of eyes watching around her. She grabbed Director Li's arm and burst into tears: "Last night was just a misunderstanding, please spare me, I'm almost thirty years old when I gave birth to her, I've been bullied for not studying well for half my life, I don't want my only daughter to follow the same path, if something happens to her...I won't live either..."
