Chapter Twenty-One Happiness
As noon approached, the sunlight outside poured into the room, spilling onto the bed and startling the person sleeping on it. The person on the bed first stirred slightly, then again, and with increasing frequency, finally opening their eyes to take in their surroundings, the furnishings of the room. Lu Jun's beautiful dream had ended, damn it, she was still here. Just a moment ago, she was clearly lying on that single bed in her university dormitory, chatting with her roommate, so how did she end up back in this green-filled room in the blink of an eye? And that damned green color, originally a symbol of life, had lost its meaning in her eyes. Lu Jun sat on the bed, dazed and self-pitying, unable to escape the suffocating green.
No, the army suddenly lifted its head and looked out of the window. What time was it now? How could he still be in bed? The black-faced ghost hadn't woken him up, hadn't dragged him out. How was this possible? Wasn't it dawn yet? So he perked up his ears to listen carefully to the outside noise, but with the closed windows, he didn't hear any sound.
She got up, put on her coat, left the bedroom, and passed by that lying door. She mourned for it silently, fortunately, the black-faced ghost was nervous last night, otherwise she wouldn't be sure if her wound would be the next door.
The living room is quiet, the decorated kitchen is quiet, the bathroom is quiet, even the bedroom of the black-faced ghost is quiet.
After examining the entire place, Lu Jun finally confirmed that she was alone at home, and it was daytime now. As for what time it was, she had no way of confirming. The house was truly old and dilapidated, not even a clock could be found. Why did the original owner leave behind the sofa and all those dishes in the kitchen but not a single clock? Lu Jun grumbled to herself as she washed up.
Everything is fine now sitting on the sofa, judging from the current situation she doesn't have to go out for training today, but what will she do today?
She was also very hungry, but because she couldn't figure out the time, she didn't know if the cafeteria had started serving food yet. Even if it had opened, it seemed like there wouldn't be any food for her anyway.
Her hands and legs were injured, making it difficult for her to go out. Climbing stairs was even more something she didn't dare try. The kitchen's perfect facilities were left unused, no rice, no flour, even if she wanted to cook something, there was no way. She wasn't a skilled housewife, nor did she have the ingredients to do so.
I don't know if she can wait for external help, Hei Mian Gui is impossible, he's being considerate of his own injury today and not letting himself go to the battlefield is already the greatest kindness, he'll send food to himself, unless a thunderbolt strikes him stupid!
Comrade Yang Nan, it seems there's no chance either. Although we have some free time at noon, the soldiers won't let us run around randomly. The family quarters should be within the range of random running.
Putting it all together, she seemed to know these two people, both of whom were impossible, so her only option was to starve to death here, a miserable and pathetic fate, not knowing if her body could even be sent back home after she died, for the old man to see the result of his tyranny!
The creaky door of the Xuan Guan opened and a person walked in.
The army did not lift her head when she heard the sound, but instead felt that it was hunger that made her hallucinate. In her preconceived notion, the door creaking sound would only ring out again in the evening, now outside is a bright light, darkness can't come.
"Hey, are you hungry?"
Hallucinations, absolute hallucinations, now actually hearing another person's voice in this house, the hallucinations are really severe. But she seemed to have smelled a scent of rice, no, this is absolutely not a hallucination. So she lifted her head and saw the person standing in front of her, "Battalion Commander, you're back!"
"You haven't starved to death yet, have you?" The naval officer stood upright beside him and handed over a lunchbox.
The army exclaimed gratefully, "Battalion Commander."
The voice was really sweet and beautiful, but when I heard it in the naval ear, all the hairs on my body stood up.
The army took over the lunch box and opened it, inside there were only four dishes in total, three of which she didn't eat, and the last one was mixed with something she didn't eat. This day really couldn't be spent like this, but since it couldn't be helped, she could only eat plain white rice with those dishes.
The naval officer looked at the dishes that had been pushed to the side, frowning and scowling, now injured and still being so picky, "Those dishes also need to be eaten." he said in a commanding tone.
The army lifted his head, frowning, "Battalion commander, I really can't eat it. If I eat it, I'll either vomit or have an allergic reaction on my body."
In the past when she was at home, her old man also corrected this shortcoming of hers, and the result was just as she said.
"Really?"
"Really, if you don't believe me, you can call my home to confirm, but I don't even know our home phone number right now." Lu Jun said with a mouthful of food.
The naval officer looked at her serious expression and believed it in his heart, but didn't show it on his face. His emotions today were strange even to himself. This morning, when he saw the army sleeping soundly, he couldn't bear to wake her up, so he tucked her blanket in and told himself that she was injured, let her take a break and rest. Heaven knows, if one of his soldiers had been injured like that and rested, he would have directly ordered that soldier to "rest thoroughly"!
At noon when eating lunch, thinking of her being injured made him bring his meal back, now he even more believes in her words, he really has some mental problems.
"So you want it to be like this forever?" The navy asked again.
"What else can I do? Can't just eat myself to the hospital! Don't know if I can react to the cafeteria and ask them to open a small stove for me." Lu Jun was having a beautiful dream.
"Immature, people in the cafeteria will directly throw you out." The navy sat down beside her and waited to take over the dishes she had pushed to one side.
"It's really rough, but I'm absolutely confident it won't be thrown out!"
"Why say that?"
"I'm so good-looking, those soldiers definitely won't throw me out, but they'll think I'm crazy and ask me to leave the cafeteria. Thinking about it now, those days were really great, especially when we used to eat instant noodles in school, thinking back on them is happiness!" Lu Jun said with emotion, his eyes flashing with memories of happy times.
"Is it really that happy?" The navy asked uncertainly.
Digression
The regiment commander seems to have improved.
Does everyone feel this way?
