Chapter 1: The Strange Occurrence on Guard Spirit Night
So I casually put on a simple white long dress, carried a small bag and went out. I have to buy birthday gifts for Fang Lingshan before she comes to pick me up!
Don't be suspicious, I just told Fang Lingshuang on the phone that I had already bought her birthday gift earlier, it was all just to humor her!
I took the subway to the mall where I last strolled with Ling Shan, she particularly liked a bottle of perfume, but due to price issues, it wasn't purchased in the end. So I plan to use my own pocket money to buy it as a birthday gift for her.
I went to the perfume counter and asked, because that one was a best-seller, but it was temporarily out of stock on the counter. The salesgirl enthusiastically said she would go to the warehouse to get some for me, so I had no choice but to stand aside and wait. After a while, I heard a woman's sobbing coming from inside the counter. I looked up and saw that one of the counter girls was crying sadly inside. She looked pretty good too, I don't know what made her so upset that even her makeup was smudged, with black eye shadow and mascara smudged under her eyes, and the red lipstick on her lips had gone beyond the lines. If I hadn't seen a ghost before, I would have been really scared by her like this.
"Miss, what's wrong with you? Have you lost your love?" The young woman cried so sorrowfully, it must be a matter of emotions. Since I've met her, maybe I can comfort her.
She heard me talking to her, raised her head and looked at me, sobbing while asking: "What's the big deal about losing love? Losing dignity is the most terrifying thing. I didn't do anything, but they excluded me, put perfume from the cabinet in my bag, framing me for stealing perfume... Waaahhh, whatever I say, the manager doesn't believe me..."
As she spoke, the woman burst into tears again.
It turned out that she was wrongly accused of stealing things. Although she was a stranger, seeing how heartbroken she was, I instinctively felt that she wasn't lying.
She looks quite good-looking, probably because of this, she was envied by her colleagues and excluded, which is not surprising.
So I kindly advised her: "Miss, a clear conscience is the best defense against malicious rumors. If you have done nothing wrong, why worry about what others say? In my opinion, just report to the police directly. If it's not you who stole, then it's not you who stole. The police will clear your name!"
"You think the police will give me a clean bill?" She stood up in confusion, sobbing and her body trembling.
I nodded.
She cried even more sorrowfully and said: "It's too late! It's all too late..."
As customers came and went, just as I was worried that her crying would attract the attention of other customers around us, I noticed something unusual.
I was just about to ask her, the salesgirl who had gone to the warehouse to get me perfume came back with a professional smile on her face, holding my perfume and said: "Miss, you're really lucky, I looked for it in the warehouse for a long time, this perfume is the last one left, I'll go make the bill for you now!"
I nodded and kindly reminded her, "Sister, you'd better advise your colleague first. It's a blessing that everyone can work together; don't let some small matters damage the relationship."
But then, upon hearing me say that, her face froze in confusion and she asked me uncertainly: "Miss, what are you talking about?"
"Your colleague is really wronged..."
I pointed to where that woman who cried earlier was, and my face turned silly. How could she disappear in just a moment?
"Is my colleague?" The other person's face showed a stiff smile and said: "But, today another colleague on duty is not feeling well and has taken leave, now there is only one person at the counter, what colleague?"
