Chapter 56: The Heart of Man is Treacherous

Chapter 56: The Heart of Man is Treacherous

Listening to him, I inexplicably felt a pang of sourness in my heart. To be honest, after Ji Lian left, I should have gone to take care of and comfort the two elderly people more often. However, I was immersed in my own sorrow, neglecting everyone around me, including my own parents. It's been several years since I last went back to visit them.

"What is he doing here? I don't understand." I furrowed my brow, looking at Sun Wen's somewhat desolate back, and felt a bit of sympathy in my heart.

"Perhaps... he's just upset and came here to clear his mind." Ji Lian saw that I was feeling down, so she didn't say anything more.

"Huh? Ji Luan, isn't that Teacher Qian!" I exclaimed in surprise, pointing outside the window!

Sun Wen was originally a person, but now his instructor has also come! That is also Ji Luan's instructor!

Ji Lian immediately leaned against the window glass and looked out.

His eyebrows were getting tighter and tighter. Sun Wen and Qian teacher talked together for about ten minutes before they bid farewell to each other, dispersing in two opposite directions.

"What position does Mr. Qian hold now?" I asked Ji Luan.

"Doctoral supervisor." Ji Luan replied briefly, looking preoccupied.

"What kind of role did he take in this project development?"

"Soul figure, core leader. Many of the materials I left behind back then, except for what's here with you, are mostly in his hands." Ji Lan walked back to the bedside and flipped through her phone, seemingly looking for something.

I slowly moved to his side and watched him searching.

Qian Shuyou, 64 years old, domestic new energy development leader, university doctoral supervisor, research institute honorary dean, project leader.

Here are the results and experiences of his more than 60 years.

"When you got into trouble, he was just a master's supervisor..." I muttered, staring at the screen.

"Well, you also know that he rose to prominence very quickly. His current status in school is probably on par with the principal." Ji Lian said thoughtfully, looking at me with a profound meaning.

I suddenly understood what he meant, and all the hairs on my body stood up!

"He! He wouldn't be thinking of plagiarizing your results..."

"Shh, everything needs evidence." Ji Lan covered my mouth and whispered.

  "Hmm..." I murmured.

Yes, now Ji Lian is more calm, cautious and meticulous than before. The three years of wandering as a ghost have made him see through all the cunning and dangers. He is now accumulating strength and waiting for the right moment to strike.

He is a kind person, but also a stubborn one. He's not the type to swallow his pride and keep quiet after being bullied. If someone tries to take advantage of him, he will fight back tooth for tooth and eye for eye. And even more fiercely - I know that much.

When we were together, sometimes we would bicker and fight like other couples. However, after a few times, I realized that when we fought, he never gave in to me like other boys would with their girlfriends - instead, he would really hit back at me. After several instances, I had a huge outburst of anger, and only then did he realize his mistake. His explanation for this was that from a young age, he had been taught the principle of "don't offend me and I won't offend you; if you offend me, I'll pay you back double". He adhered to this principle when we were together - but later on, he abandoned it with me.

What I like about Ji Lian is this aspect of him. He's not perfect, but he's willing to change for me, just for one person, which is me. This is what touches me the most about him.
