Chapter One

  Chapter One

Wang Shaokuo, a top student in the psychology department at Peking University. It's unknown whether it was because he watched "Detective Conan" too much as a teenager or if he admired Conan Doyle too much, but that original Sherlock Holmes novel had been read so many times the pages were worn out.

After graduation, she didn't go on to further study or become a psychologist, but instead really started a company called "Ke Bei Affairs Office", the name of which was laughed at by her three good sisters at first, but she didn't care.

Unexpectedly, as the years went by, the law firm's business was better than expected, and Wang Shaokuo should be the freest among several sisters.

Today, the boss of Ke Bei's office, Wang Shao Ke, stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window with his short hair combed back, wearing a white shirt and gray vest, looking very handsome. He stared out the window at something unknown, seemingly lost in thought.

He held a pipe in his right hand and would occasionally hang it from the corner of his mouth to take two puffs, really having an appearance similar to that of Sherlock Holmes.

Until a black sedan appeared in the field of vision, Wang Shaokuo's mouth corners slightly hooked. He turned around and put the pipe on the table, came to the bar to boil water, and then took out the tea leaves from the tea table and put them in the teapot, his movements were familiar and smooth, and the timing was just right. At the moment when the water was boiling and the tea was brewed, the door was opened by someone.

A long-haired woman stood at the door, it was Si Lu Chen.

She has a stunning figure, fair skin, long legs, and is about 1.74 meters tall, making her the tallest among her dormitory sisters, with the best family background as well. On the first day of university, her family sent a dazzling Bentley to school, along with servants to help with unpacking, which left Wang Shaokai speechless, unable to imagine that such a wealthy young lady actually existed, and was so beautiful that even other girls couldn't help but stare.

I thought Si Luochen would have a big sister temperament and be difficult to serve, but the result was completely opposite.

They say that the flower-selling girl is wearing a bamboo leaf, and she is this kind of person. Not only is her temper gentle, but she also does things in a low-key manner, and her achievements are extremely outstanding. All perfect things are gathered on her body, it's unbearable to think that this is the blessing accumulated over several lifetimes? Or should I say that this is the real young lady, not some so-called rich second generation who only knows how to squander and rely on their father!

If there's one thing to be said about Si Lu Chen, it's that he has too little expression and is too cold.

"There were several rear-end collisions on the road you came from today, and the traffic was quite congested. I thought you'd be late, but... " Wang Shaokuo poured the brewed tea into a cup, saying with deep meaning.

Xia Lu Chen took off his glasses, revealing a delicate face with no expression.

"No wonder you're Detective Wang, you're so clear about this matter. I don't know if what you told me yesterday about having news of Qian Tong was true or false?" He raised an eyebrow and asked with a hint of doubt, "Don't tell me it's another false lead?"

Wang Shaokuo smiled, gesturing for Si Luochen to sit down, and handed him a cup of tea. "We're old classmates after all, can't we chat and catch up when we meet? Let's talk about the past first?"

Xia Luo Chen sat on the sofa after hearing the words, picked up the teacup in front of him and brought it to his nose for a light sniff. It was top-grade aged Pu'er tea. He took a light sip and indeed the tea fragrance entered his taste buds, leaving a lingering aftertaste in his mouth.

"Good tea, it seems being a detective is quite profitable."

"As soon as we start talking about old times, you immediately begin to belittle me." While saying this, she picked up her own teacup and took a light sip, responding with a bitter smile. She continued, "It's been so many years since Lu Hui got married and Qian Tong left. There are only you and I left here now. Do you remember how long it's been since the four of us last gathered together?"

  "Three and a half years."

"Yes, it's been so long." The tone was somewhat regretful.

It's clear that Si Luo Chen is eager to find Xiang Qian Tong immediately, and there's no need for more small talk. After finishing the tea in his cup, he poured another one for Si Luo Chen before saying: "The news is the latest, but I'm a bit hesitant to confirm whether it's really Qian Tong."

Si Luo Chen stared at Wang Shao Ke, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, without saying a word.

"I know what you're thinking, we've been good friends for four years in college, how could I not recognize you. But... it's true." As he spoke, Wang Shaokuo got up and walked to the office desk, opened a drawer, took out a file, and returned to Si Luochen's side, handing her the document.

He took the file and opened it, only to find a single photo inside. The woman's profile was faintly visible as she talked on the phone with an expressionless face. But seeing this familiar photo made Si Luo Chen fall silent, his entire face turning cold.

It wasn't until a long time had passed that Si Luo Chen closed the file, his voice somewhat cold: "Very similar."

"You understand her so well, yet you're not even sure, let alone me." Wang Shaokuo casually picked up the pipe on the table and put it in his mouth, saying helplessly: "Among us, Qian Tong is the most excellent. If she hides from us with a pure heart, I have no way to deal with her either."

Undoubtedly facts are the most hurtful sharp blades.

"Where was this photo taken? Can you confirm further?" asked Si Lu Chen seriously.

"Three days ago in Los Angeles, USA, there were too many people here, and when I turned around, the person was gone." Wang Shaokuo explained.

The room fell into an unusual silence, and a faint sigh could be heard, coming from Si Luo Chen.

This is a rare sight in Wang Shaokuo's eyes, from college onwards, this cold and proud woman has never put anyone or anything in her eyes. Nor is there anyone who can make her so tirelessly devoted, indeed only she is different.

This face, which only smiles when looking at Qian Tong, is very quiet every time others speak. Only when speaking to Qian Tong does she focus on listening. It's unclear what's going on between them in Wang Shao Ke's mind, but it's not necessary to know too much, just knowing that in Si Luo Chen's heart, her feelings for Qian Tong are more than just admiration.

"Shao Ke, can you give me the address of this place?" Si Luo Chen's voice interrupted Wang Shao Ke's thoughts.

He took a puff of his pipe, and a wisp of blue smoke escaped from those fascinating lips as he asked in a tone of slight surprise: "You're going yourself?"

At this time, Si Luo Chen had already picked up his bag and walked to the door, opening it a crack. With his back to Wang Shao Ke, he paused for a moment before saying, "You should smoke less, it's not good for your body."

"Uh-huh, got it." I don't know if this is a response to what came before or after.

The car returned to the Si residence and had just stopped when a servant came forward and opened the door. Si Luo Chen got out of the car, handed his bag and keys to the servant beside him, and asked, "Is my sister back?"

"Miss Er has returned, young mistress," the servant replied.

Si Luo Chen nodded and walked straight into the villa without saying a word. After changing into slippers, he came to the study on the second floor. Si Luo Chen knew that his sister would always stay in the study every time she came back. Sure enough, when he arrived at the door of the study, he saw a woman sitting quietly there flipping through new books.

Standing at the door, he knocked on it in a suggestive manner: "Just back and so diligent, aren't you tired?"

The woman sitting quietly inside looked up at her sister standing in the doorway and slightly raised the corner of her mouth: "Did you go to Shao Ke's place today?"

Si Luo Chen's expression paused for a moment, his face seeming to smile yet not quite smiling. He crossed his arms over his chest and said, "Just because you're born in the year of the dog doesn't mean you have a dog's nose, right?"

Xiang Yan closed the book quietly, pushed her glasses up with her hand and replied: "It's the smell of smoke. You know no one in our family smokes, Shao Ke's tobacco is very special, it leaves a fragrance for a long time, you can tell as soon as you smell it."

  "It's still a dog nose."

"What are you looking for me?" Si Ruo Nan put down her book and came to her sister's side, leaning against the door frame.

The seemingly comfortable sofa is more charming than the cold and hard door frame.

"I'd like to go to the US for a while, I want to temporarily hand over my clinic's patients to you for a period of time," said Si Luochen.

"It's clear that Si Ruo Nan is somewhat surprised, but it's perfectly concealed behind a calm and composed expression: 'Going to America? When are you going? Have you mentioned it to Mom and Dad?'"

"Xie Luo Chen shook his head: "Not yet, we're leaving tomorrow. Can you help me tell Mom and Dad, okay? Sis.""

"Isn't it tiring to rush like this?"

  "I'm used to it."

It's clear from her eyes that she's determined, and I couldn't bear to refuse her.

"At that time, your patient will not be willing to go back to you, don't blame me." Si Yunan said with a smile.

"It's better this way, saves trouble." Got Si Ruo Nan's response, hands in pockets, mouth slightly pursed and turned to leave.

Back in her own room, she started packing things up.
