Chapter 26 Military Academy

  Chapter 26 Military Academy

The next day, newspapers across the country competed to report a piece of news that shocked the nation.

China's first military school, Zhonghua Military School, began construction in GX Province, adopting Western-style teaching methods and recruiting students from all over the country.

This Zhonghua Military School was named nationwide because Cai E and Chiang Kai-shek served as vice-principals of the school, and also invited many military instructors from Germany.

The principal of the Whampoa Military Academy was Chen Shao, and since Chen Shao had a very good relationship with Germany at that time, the German side gladly agreed to his request for hiring military instructors.

Ts'ai O and Chiang Pai-li personally advertised for students: The Chinese Military Academy is located in Kweichow Province, with the aim of training qualified officers for the country and the people. Anyone who has talent and ambition can enter school free of charge.

The grand momentum, the soaring reputation, completely overshadowed the existence of Chen Shao and Longteng Group. Even the extremely small number of people who knew the inside story would think that this was a place where Cai Yun and Jiang Baili raised private soldiers to spend their old age, and would never have thought that the military school's details were so complicated.

Li Zongren of Guangxi Province even brought 50,000 yuan to support the construction of the school. For Li Zongren, whether it was a military school or not didn't matter, as long as he could take good care of those two and prevent them from causing trouble in Guangxi Province. Moreover, Li Zongren considered Chen Shao to be the representative of Cai E and Jiang Baili. Tang Jiyao in Yunnan also sent 50,000 yuan. When Yuan Shikai in Beijing learned that Cai E and Jiang Baili were going to build a military school, he was delighted for several days and even sent many students from the original Baoding Military Academy over.

For money and people, Chen Shao is more and better, and does not refuse anyone who comes.

The military school was built at the kilometer edge of Qinghe Village towards Huashi Town, covering an area of 6,000 mu. By the time the school was fully constructed and it was already next spring, Chen Shao's pocket money had almost been emptied. For a while, Chen Shao didn't even have enough money to build the Red Guard unit.

The majestic gate of the Whampoa Military Academy is made of marble, with two 10-meter-high marble slabs on either side inscribed with the school couplet written by Tsai Ao: "Fight to the death for the people, fight to win for the nation", horizontal inscription reads "Whampoa Military Academy".

Inside the school gate 50 meters away stands a huge stone monument, on which is inscribed the motto of Zhonghua Military School.

We must have a thorough understanding of the people, government and society we are going to serve; We should achieve balanced development in engineering, natural sciences and humanities; We should not only form a reasonable knowledge structure but also strive to form our own professional expertise in the academic fields that interest us and have special talents. Strengthening knowledge updating and establishing the concept of "lifelong learning" has become the call of the times.

"Ignorance" —— eager to learn, always regard oneself as a student, ask some "foolish questions".

Learning from others is at least as important as learning from books.

Make full use of leisure time in life and don't let any opportunity for self-improvement slip away.

Each student will not lie, cheat or steal, nor tolerate those who do.

An individual must obey the collective or a larger entity, obey the troops, and obey a team.

Discipline and military bearing are areas where we have stricter requirements than other schools or even troops.

Most importantly, stick to principles at critical moments.

The spirit of being diligent and responsible is more important than one's personal reputation.

The world is in dire need of such talents who can overcome all kinds of obstacles and complete tasks under any circumstances.

What we want is for discipline to guard China, rather than instructors constantly monitoring students.

"The devil" is in the details, never neglect any detail.

Never indulge yourself and make excuses for yourself.

Even a little self-control can make one strong and powerful.

To win victory, you may have to do some things that you don't want to do. Learn to endure injustice, learn to fulfill your duty conscientiously.

As long as you have faith in yourself, nothing can be difficult enough to hold out against you.

Waiting is much harder than doing.

Have confidence and grasp your own future.

Don't be submerged, you can choose to rise up in any environment.

A patient man is never unfortunate.

When you're convinced that you can't break through, the first choice is to wait.

If you have no choice, then bravely face it head-on.

  Duty, Honor, Country!

As long as you don't give up, there is still a chance!

To cultivate all kinds of abilities, including the ability to bear a miserable fate.

Impulsiveness is definitely not the character of a true hero.

Adapt to the environment, rather than letting the environment adapt to you.

Going through rigorous training is an inevitable path to perfecting oneself.

  Speed determines success or failure.

Don't be afraid of having crazy ideas, as long as you are willing to work hard.

First and foremost, one must establish self-confidence.

Victory belongs to the most persevering people.

  Dare to conquer all fears.

We should be grateful for hardships and difficulties in life.

Take the initiative to exercise yourself and cultivate a resolute character.

  Take action now, don't delay.

Fears in reality are far less frightening than those imagined.

The goal must be clear, and the conviction must be firm.

Only by doing it yourself can you know whether you will succeed.

  Be a truly fearless person.

To conquer fear rather than retreat from it.

Losers let it lose, winners create success.

Dare to "take action", don't doubt yourself.

Nothing is impossible - "no way" or "impossible" are often excuses of mediocre and lazy people.

Success begins with awakening, and mindset determines destiny.

Anyone, when faced with a crisis, must think of breaking conventions.

To make good use of experience and not be bound by it.

Dare to think outside the box.

  Think more and move less.

To keep it simple, dare to do what is said "can't be done".

The correct strategy and tactics are more important than superior forces.

When Cai and Jiang first saw the school motto given by Chen Shao, they had even more respect for him. The curriculum of the four-year undergraduate program at the Chinese Military Academy includes 40 courses, with 30 required courses covering mathematics, engineering, English, history, social sciences, psychology, and national security topics. The 10 elective courses include basic science, applied science, engineering, humanities, national security affairs, and public affairs, among others. Each discipline is further divided into subfields. In teaching, West Point emphasizes the use of new technologies to assist instruction, bringing the school's classroom teaching to an excellent level. For this reason, Chen Shao has been working hard for these teachers over the past six months, recruiting from all over the world and recently focusing on engineers and scientists to serve as instructors at the military academy.

The emblem of the Chinese Military Academy, the main pattern is: a shield symbolizing the armed forces of China. The Great Wall pattern floats on the shield, symbolizing the wisdom of the Chinese nation. On top of the shield, there is a trident-shaped military dagger, symbolizing the military profession. The Great Wall and the dagger represent the military education and cultural education of the Chinese Military Academy. At the top of the shield, a golden dragon with its claws outstretched, holding 13 arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing war and peace. On the ribbon on the right side of the dragon, the school motto of the Chinese Military Academy is engraved - Responsibility, Honor, Country. On the ribbon on the left side of the dragon, "China 1917 Chinese Military Academy" is engraved.

The library of the Whampoa Military Academy is China's first military library. The library currently has a collection of 50,000 volumes, all of which were collected from around the world and compiled by instructors. The academy's sports facilities are complete and well-equipped. It has two large comprehensive stadiums, one gymnasium, and several indoor and outdoor swimming pools, outdoor basketball courts, volleyball courts, football fields, tennis courts, and table tennis halls. These facilities were all arranged for construction by Chiang Kai-shek.

  March 1, 1917

Early in the morning, students who came to take the exam had already formed a long line, with the endless queue shrouded in morning fog and no end in sight. Everyone was looking forward to it eagerly. The wealthy students were wrapped in thick cotton-padded jackets, some even brought their family servants to attend to them. The poorer students tightly clutched their meager short clothes, some had roasted sweet potatoes cooked overnight on the fire pit stuffed in their pockets. But overall, everyone followed the rules and waited in line for the enrollment registration that would start in the afternoon.

At noon, a team of mighty soldiers came over.

About a company of soldiers, wearing camouflage uniforms with some inexplicable tactical packs on them, carrying Type 81 assault rifles with bayonets attached, jogging in unison past the students.

"One, two, three, four..." The leader of the platoon shouted slogans at the head, also wearing a full set of field military uniform, with an air of majesty that made it difficult for people to get close. The rifle on his back was also equipped with a cold and piercing bayonet, except for an additional Mauser pistol at his waist.

"One, two, three, four..." The long shout had just finished, and the soldiers also shouted out a neat slogan, shaking the sky. More than 100 people's voices shook the sky, not to mention that they ran past in front of the crowd like a group of fierce tigers released from their cages, stirring up a gust of wind, which actually scared many students on the spot, thinking that the military school in front of them was indeed extraordinary.

"Leave one row behind and guard the gate on the spot!"

"Attention! At ease, stand at attention!"

The first row of soldiers who received the order stood at attention under the command of the platoon leader, standing on both sides of the gate, skillfully taking down their rifles and holding them in front of their chest with a loud "click", exuding an air of menace.

"My goodness, are these students from school or General Chai's private soldiers? They're really intimidating!" In a corner where parents were gathered in the distance, a parent dressed as a businessman wiped the sweat off his forehead. He had seen many things by walking around, but he had never seen such majestic soldiers before.

With stern military bearing, an aura of murder surrounds him, his martial prowess inspires awe.

"Who knows? Sigh... I hope our kid can get in, this is the number one military school in all of China." A parent responded.

"Principal Cai is as majestic as ever, but unfortunately he doesn't want to raise an army and fight for the world again. Otherwise, with the momentum of these soldiers in front of him, what are Sun's cannons and Zhang's cannons compared to his?"

Not to mention the many parents who were discussing and arguing, the students were even more frightened by this militia regiment like a tiger wolf, but also more determined to enter the Chinese Military Academy.

Soon after, several old-fashioned black sedans sped over, and as the motorcade came to a stop in front of the gate, the soldiers on guard stood up even straighter.

  "Hail!"

With a snap, the soldiers raised their guns again and held them at chest level, their eyes fixed in the direction of the motorcade. The squad leader ran towards the motorcade, where several people wearing special black combat uniforms were already seated in the car. They were the warriors who had reached the Special Forces within the past six months and formed China's first Special Forces unit, led by Wang Xiaoshan, who had attained the rank of King of Soldiers. After getting out of the car, they stood guard in front of the black sedan.

Immediately, a short-haired young man pushed open the door and walked down, and the visitor was Chen Shao, the county magistrate of Huashi County and the highest commander of the Chinese People's Army. The original county magistrate of Huashi County had retired, and Li Zongren gave the position to Chen Shao in order to please Cai E and others.

"Reporting to the superior officer, Captain Liu Yunfei of the Reconnaissance Company is reporting to you."

Liu Yunfei stood at attention and saluted with his most solemn attitude towards this legendary figure before him.

The current commander of the regiment is Kong Wenhong, but Chen Shao has always been the highest commander of the entire Qinghe Village area troops.
