Chapter 37: The Offensive

Chapter 37: The Offensive (First Update)

Chen Mingliang had no idea what he was giving Vasilyev in the file bag, and if he knew it was a password book and contact codes, he wouldn't know what to think.

He is now burning with a passion, as a former National Government officer and now a Communist Party officer. To be honest, this is the battlefield he needs. Fighting internally is not a battlefield that a soldier should have. A true soldier can only truly demonstrate his value on an external battlefield! Protecting one's home and country, expanding territory, nothing else matters!

The Guard Corps, also known as the Manzhouli Guard Corps, was a local force whose predecessor was the Inner Mongolian Cavalry Corps. The cavalry corps is closely related to Qi Junfeng's cavalry brigade, and this unit was part of that brigade and its elite. After going through a series of ups and downs, the original cavalry brigade became today's cavalry corps.

The guards have the qualifications to be proud of, in Inner Mongolia they have this qualification, and on the battlefield against Japan they are brilliant! So Chen Feichen's foreign troops don't count for anything in their eyes!

The Guard Corps had three regiments plus a guard battalion, two of which were cavalry units. This also meant that the main force of the Guard Corps was outside the city. When the Guard Corps received news of being attacked by Soviet forces, their first reaction was to counterattack! If it weren't for the commander's order to endure, they would have launched a cavalry charge already!

In just one hour, the Soviet troops had completely broken through the border guard regiment's defense line and were heading straight for Manzhouli! The Soviet attack at this time was no longer a battalion, but a continuous stream of troops pouring in from behind, it can be seen that this is not a battalion but a regiment or even a division!

The Soviet people's strong reaction also reflects the Soviet people's contempt for the Chinese from the side, which is the contempt of a strong country for a weak country, and has nothing to do with party affiliation. This is human nature! Respect requires strength, and achievements are needed!

The commander of the guard squad, Hao Er, a Mongolian man with an iron face, was yelling in his office, constantly scolding the Soviets. He couldn't bear to see his subordinates die, and if it weren't for Political Commissar Liu Shoujing constantly talking about party nature and principles, Hao would have pulled out his gun and launched a full-scale counterattack!

It was just so, Colonel Haur still ordered the cavalry regiment stationed in the field to gather and assemble in the rear, waiting for an opportunity! Throughout Manchuria, there is only one guard company plus a security force (similar to public security forces)! Inner Mongolia belongs to the vast and sparse population, and the number of civilians in Manchuria is not large, most of whom are workers responsible for transporting materials.

If it is acceptable that the border was breached by the Soviets, then if only one infantry battalion of an infantry regiment were subjected to a fierce attack by the Soviets, Hauru would be unacceptable under any circumstances! The infantry regiment is just one kilometer away from Manzhouli and is stationed along the railway line.

"Hao Er roared: 'Political commissar, this is your patience! This is your prioritizing the overall situation! If you say that the Soviets are misunderstanding, then how do you explain it now? Their goal is Manzhouli, they're rushing towards Manzhouli! If you say this is a misunderstanding, then I'll give them a misunderstanding! The gun in my hand isn't just for show!'"

Then he shouted loudly: "Pass on my order!"

"Slow down! Captain, wait a minute, the order from above has not come yet, we can't act rashly, we can't be the spark that sets off the war! If so, neither of us will be able to face our parents and fellow villagers!"

"Get out of here! If I don't open fire, I'll have no face to show those fallen brothers! If defending the country's territory is wrong, then I'd rather die without regret!"

"Order all departments to counterattack! Order the third battalion to withdraw comprehensively and enter the Manzhouli urban area, blow up the railway for me!"

  "Yes!"

"Order the First and Second Battalions to make a comprehensive preparation for attack, order them to launch a flanking attack! As for when to launch the attack, wait for my command!"

  "Yes!"

"Order frontline troops to find out the specific number of enemy troops, we must know how many forces the enemy has? Execute immediately!"

  "Yes!"

"Order all troops in the city to immediately reinforce and cooperate, calling on all warriors to take out their fearless sacrifice style, fighting to the death to defend our land!"

  "Yes!"

  。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。。

Chen Feichen waited in the command center for news from the front line, now intelligence was especially important. He did not plan to pull his troops close to Manzhouli, but rather intended to launch a surprise attack on the Soviets in the wilderness, trying to inflict as many casualties as possible on the Soviets. However, one degree had to be grasped, and the Soviets could not be provoked into a rage, otherwise it would be irretrievable!

Time passed minute by minute, Liu Guangda and Chen Mingliang had returned to the combat room, Tang Jingwu was no longer answering any calls, and there were no incoming calls now.

The sound of gunfire could be faintly heard from the direction of Manzhouli! Liu Guangda and his men looked anxious, they were also waiting for the order to attack.

After a while, Chen Fei clenched his teeth and said: "Deputy Commander Liu, order you to lead the 1st and 2nd battalions to deploy immediately on the west side of Manzhouli, three miles away, waiting for orders! Your task is to cut off the Soviet's retreat route. Once you receive the attack order, you will immediately recover our border defense line position and cut off the rear route of the old devils who have entered our territory! Whether we can annihilate the enemy this time depends on you!"

"Understood! I'm leaving now!" Liu Guangda put on his hat and was about to leave, when Chen Feicheng called out to him, saying: "Guangda, be careful with everything, we'll meet again in Manchuria!"

"Ah! Got it!" Liu Guangda Zheng nodded heavily, then he turned around and left the combat room.

Chen Feichen then said to Tang Jingwu and Chen Mingliang: "You stay at the command center, I will personally lead the three battalions to Manzhouli. If the situation is not right, I will immediately enter the city to assist the garrison in defending the city!"

Chen Mingliang was the first to object: "No way! You're the team leader, I'm the chief of staff, and it's reasonable for me to lead the team! We need you here to command!"

Chen Feichen shook his head and said, "In terms of command, you are better than me! You have a broad perspective and are good at it. Besides, there are things to do here too. This place is close to the front line and the Soviet border, so it's not ruled out that the Soviets will attack your position!"

When Chen Feichen saw Chen Mingliang about to speak again, Chen Feichen glared and said: "This is an order!"

"After saying that, he said in a low voice: 'This matter was caused by me and I will end it. If it fails, all the blame will be pushed onto me! Do you understand? Alright, let's not say more. It's up to you and the higher-ups to deal with each other now! Be careful with everything!"

Chen Feichen turned around and left, Tang Jingwu let out a long sigh and sat down dejectedly. Chen Mingliang silently gave a military salute in the direction Chen Feichen had left.
