Chapter 25: Massacre (3)
As the two sides each said their own, Chen Long was fighting with various dead objects at this time. Jiang Feng and Hua Tian were sitting in the hall, drowsy and about to fall asleep. The others were also resting in their respective rooms, including Director Shi.
In the hours before dawn, Shi Dao guided herself carefully to refer to the map left by the travel group. The poisonous valley in the south had been searched and there was no way out. So, there were only three places left: the steep cliff that was originally intended to climb eastward, the high mountain where hunting was prepared westward, and the ancient tomb that needed to be explored northward. From Shi Dao's perspective, the possibility of finding a path on the western mountain is the greatest, followed by the cliff, which may also reveal a steep mountain road. As for the ancient tomb, there is nothing good to explore, because behind the ancient tomb are clusters of high peaks, extremely difficult to climb, and the hope of escaping from there is the smallest.
After thinking for a while, Shi Dao finally couldn't bear the fatigue of his body, took off his jacket and went to bed, and soon fell into deep sleep.
"Ding Dong ---- Ding Dong ---" The tour guide felt that he had just fallen asleep for a short while, but was awakened by a strange sound like marbles falling to the ground.
She concentrated and listened quietly, "Ding-dang----ding-dang-----" a very faint sound, yet it seemed to be right next to her ear, the voice got closer and closer, the ding-dang sound also got louder and louder, finally shocking Shi Daoyou's eardrum somewhat.
Was it just an auditory hallucination? She thought about it nervously, but didn't think so. But who would be playing marbles at this hour? The recent series of strange and terrifying events had really taken a toll on Tour Guide Shi's mind and body, she was really looking forward to a good night's sleep. Just as she was about to drift off, she glanced up at the talismans stuck to the headboard, thought of Chen Long's calm and collected eyes, and comforted herself: "Nothing will happen, absolutely nothing will happen."
To verify her idea, she moved her body, but found that she couldn't exert any strength and couldn't sit up at all. Was it a nightmare? She thought in terror, but then seemed to think of something and shook her head to deny her own speculation. According to the elderly, being pressed by a ghost is when one's limbs are numb and can't move, even wanting to shout but unable to make a sound, which is a manifestation of the separation of one's soul from one's body. However, tour guide Shi felt that her legs were not numb at all, and her soul was still in sync with her body.
She opened her mouth, "Save... me..." Her voice was very weak, like someone who was seriously ill. The room was very quiet, without a hint of human presence, and all she could hear was the sound of the watch in her pocket ticking away "tick-tock... tick-tock...". This watch had been with her since she started this job five or six years ago, but she had never heard its ticking so clearly before. In her memory, such a sound should be very faint.
When did that lingering "ding-dong" sound disappear from my ears, and where are those marbles that I only heard the sound of?
"A short, abrupt moan... The watch stopped. The surroundings became extremely quiet again, black and terrifying. Shidao You tried her best to open her eyes wide, wanting to see the devil lurking in the darkness. She felt her heartbeat suddenly speeding up, her breathing becoming urgent, and her legs trembling slightly."
"No!" she shouted, her voice like a mosquito buzzing.
Suddenly, the surroundings lit up, and a strip of blue light wrapped around Shidu's legs, wrists, and neck. The cold sensation made Shidu feel like she was falling into an ice cave. Shidu wanted to curl her body together to avoid this chilling aura enveloping her entire body. But she couldn't do it, she could only follow the strips of blue light to see what kind of thing wanted to put her to death.
Those were pairs of eyeballs without whites, their black pupils seemed to swallow all the light. Those round and rolling eyeballs, like marbles, jumped on the ground, making a "ding-dang---ding-dang" sound.
The tour guide was shocked and terrified, tears streaming down his face uncontrollably. Mom, where are you? When people are extremely scared, they often think of their parents, even if their parents can't help them at all. It's like an ostrich, when encountering a natural enemy or disaster, the first reaction is not to escape, but to bury its head in the sand.
Shi Daoyou had already closed her eyes, not daring to look again. She felt something crawling under the bed, a chill spreading throughout her body, and she thought the sheets were all wet and sticky. A foul smell wafted over, Shi Daoyou shifted uncomfortably, trying to get away from this strange and nauseating odor. But she couldn't do anything, could only lie there helplessly.
There was someone under the bed, because a cold hand had already touched her spine. But this is a bed! How could she feel that hand through the thick wooden board? This made her think of a horror story, which said that a family bought a sofa, but it became very damp and emitted a foul odor after just a few days. When they dismantled the sofa, they found a female corpse inside.
Could it be that there is also a female corpse under my bed? Director Shi thought nervously, feeling a chill on his back, his body softening wave after wave.
Two pale, bloodless hands grasped Shidu You's neck, and countless eyes glowing with blue light "chattered" eerily. Shidu You felt herself on the verge of suffocation, she struggled with all her might, but couldn't muster any strength in her body.
Suddenly, the talismans on the wall and above the bed burst into fierce flames, swirling around Shidao You in a whirlwind of warm light. His eyes bounced back in terror, letting out inhuman screams, before finally disintegrating under the illumination of the talismans. The pair of icy hands also seemed to have met their match, shrinking back as if scalded by boiling oil.
The tour guide's face turned bright red, and he suddenly sat up in bed, initially thinking he couldn't move, so he used too much force and fell directly to the floor with a dull thud.
It's moving! Director Shi didn't care about the cold sweat all over her body, and with a glance around, she found that there was indeed nothing else. The whole room was exactly the same as when she went to sleep, except for one difference - those talismans had disappeared, leaving only some flying ash on the ground, which made Director Shi feel that what happened earlier wasn't an illusion.
What about the others? Will they encounter the same situation as me? Is it going to come again? If it comes again, I'm definitely done for! Tour guide Shi was anxious and hesitant, wondering whether or not to wake everyone up.
Suddenly, "Bang! Bang!" two knocks came from the door.
The tour guide was in a tense moment when she was suddenly startled by the knock on the door.
"Who?" she asked in a hoarse voice.
"It's me! I just heard a muffled sound coming from your room, and I was worried something might have happened to you, so I came to take a look." The man's voice was calm and magnetic, making Shi Daoyou feel slightly better amidst his fear.
She tidied up the scattered quilt, and hastily put on a coat. She now urgently needed to find someone to talk to or go to the hall to stay with the night watchman. In this place, she couldn't stay for another moment.
With a creak, she pushed the door open.
