Chapter 2 Memories (1) Carefree
"Are you married?" Liu Jing asked in surprise, looking at Zhen with a confident and full expression, highlighting her bulging belly.
"Nothing..." Zhen was still so beautiful, she happily stroked her bulging belly, lowering her head with a look in her eyes that only a little woman would have.
"Are you crazy? How can you be pregnant if you're not married?" Liu Jing asked skeptically, pulling over a chair to sit across from her. The waiter at the restaurant hastily brought over menus and handed them out, but before Zhen could take hers, Liu Jing snatched it away first. "Uh... what do you want to eat?" She had originally intended to scold her a bit, but considering that someone was pregnant, she couldn't help but take care of her emotions.
"It's okay, I'll give birth to him and then find a job with peace of mind. I believe I have the ability to support him." Zhen's eyes were filled with happy and contented expression.
"Cut! Should I congratulate you or despise you?" Liu Jing ordered some dishes suitable for pregnant women, handed the menu to the waiter, and turned her head with a scolding tone.
"Haha! Congratulations! I've decided, you will be the godmother of the child." Zhen said with a dazed expression, smiling radiantly.
"Hey, I'm still a young unmarried girl, you're giving me a son? Who will want to marry me in the future?" Liu Jing said with an intentionally pretended tone.
"Hmph! You're probably secretly hoping to adopt my child, aren't you? Hypocrite!" Zhen said with a smile. Her eyes shone with delight, exuding the perfect little woman attitude.
Although all this has become the past, it is as vivid as yesterday's scene. After the hustle and bustle of prosperity, when night falls, the last rays of the apocalypse are scattered, everything disappears like smoke, and can't be touched.
Liu Jing felt her whole body burning, her throat parched, but no cool water was poured in. In a daze, she faintly heard someone crying, feeling as if it was right by her ear. She slightly raised her head and saw the window, where a slender figure stood with the wind blowing through her long hair... Her shoulders were so helpless, the sound of her crying lingering on...
Liu Jing struggled to open her blurry eyes, which were burning from the smoke, and asked in a loud voice: "Who are you! Why are you crying in my home?" She looked at the woman with difficulty.
The crying seemed to stop, the woman slowly turned her head... Oh my god! What a pale face, the column of blood gushing out from her neck blurred Liu Jing's vision... Ghost... Ahhh... Ahhh...
Liu Jing let out a primal scream and suddenly felt someone shaking her body... A familiar cry pierced through her eardrums.
As Liu Jing slowly and laboriously opened her eyes, a familiar face appeared in front of her.
"Jun......" Liu Jing immediately threw away her reserve, leaning on his shoulder, but her heart was still racing wildly. This was the first nightmare she had since Zhen's death...
"Little thing, you're having a fever, let's go, I'll take you to the hospital." Chen Jun said in an angry tone.
"Don't go, don't call me little thing, I'm a big person who's almost three years old." Liu Jing stubbornly refused.
"Go ahead and be stubborn! I don't want a fool."
"You... who said I'd go with you." Liu Jing didn't know if it was because she was too close to him or the chain reaction of her fever, but her face seemed even hotter than before.
"Look at you, your face is as red as a monkey's butt. It's all rosy." Chen Jun teased, reaching out to scratch Liu Jing's nose.
"Speechless." Liu Jing deliberately pushed away Chen Jun's outstretched arm, plopping herself down on the bed mattress, which bounced lightly, causing her body to sway naturally.
"Ah! Lately the company's business has been busy, I'm exhausted to death, and when I get home I still see you looking like this..." Chen Jun said as his scorching lips rushed over.
"No." Liu Jing pushed away his ambiguous move with great effort, but lowered her head, not wanting to see the disappointed and bewildered look in his eyes.
"Jing'er, you're bullying me." Chen Jun seemed really angry, stepped back and pulled his tie, scolding.
"How have I abused you? Didn't I just not do your laundry and cook for you?" Liu Jing knew the implication of abuse he was referring to, but still pretended to be unaware, asking indignantly.
"You little girl, we're about to get married soon, and you still don't want me to touch you. The biggest reward is just a kiss on the cheek, this...is too ridiculous." Chen Jun's tone was somewhat mournful, which made Liu Jing feel a bit unbearable. However, Liu Jing's heart remained steadfast in adhering to one principle: it's better to lack than to be excessive.
"Jun......" Liu Jing suddenly remembered the nightmare, and looked at him with a pitiful expression, her voice choked, shouting out a single word.
"What's wrong? Little thing, I just said a word and you're already crying, your tears are too much!" Chen Junli turned around to look at Liu Jing, momentarily startled by her crying face. In the past, Liu Jing would often use this trick to scare him, but this time it was not meant to be scary.
"I dreamed of Zhen."
A few seconds of pause, silence.
"Stop thinking about her, what's the point of thinking about a dead person?" Chen Jun said, casually picking up the photo frame of Liu Jing and Zhen in middle school. "I told you to change this picture, but you didn't listen. Keeping a deceased person's picture on your bedside table for a long time can give you nightmares, just look at how scared you were just now."
"But there's only one photo of me and Zhen together, I don't want to lose it." Liu Jing weakly argued.
"Lost, obediently listen to my words is not wrong, how to say, here should also put our two photos. " Chen Jun said, and casually threw the photo frame into the trash can next to the closet.
"Jun, you said Zhen is dead, what's with her brother?" Liu Jing glanced at the photo frame, secretly making up her mind to pick it up later, but intentionally changed the subject.
"Didn't notice, how's her brother?"
"Hmm... no feeling of sadness." Liu Jing raised an eyebrow and said.
"It's all her own doing." Chen Jun blurted out, but quickly covered up by saying: "You're always talking about Zhen, I'm going to get jealous."
Unexpectedly, Chen Jun actually said that to Zhen. Liu Jing was originally sensitive and seeing the other party trying hard to cover up the previous sentence, her mind started to wander again. Liu Jing stared straight at Chen Jun, but her mind was thinking about another issue...
"I want to use Zhen as the subject matter." Liu Jing suddenly said to Chen Jun. By the way, I forgot to tell you that Liu Jing is an amateur writer who works in a funeral home. In her free time, she doesn't have the habit of strolling through supermarkets or indulging in those flashy and noisy environments. Liu Jing, who likes quietness, has only one hobby - writing down everything she sees and hears into stories.
"No way, why did you have to use her? What's so special about her topic? Besides, a person who committed suicide is already looked down upon. It's not only unoriginal but also your editor will dislike it."
Chen Jun may have been really tired, after saying these words, he walked out of Liu Jing's bedroom without looking back and went to the bathroom to take a bath.
This is the house shared by Liu Jing and Chen Jun, two bedrooms and one living room. It's called sharing, but actually he pays all the bills alone. Maybe someone wants to be ambiguous or hypocritical, who are you kidding! The shared house of two old singles, unexpectedly still innocent.
Chen Jun can give up his luxurious house and is willing to rent a shabby one or two rooms with Liu Jing, why not?! Liu Jing and Chen Jun are intimate, the biggest limitation is her face, she is not the rotten woman people talk about, but also an inexplicable freak... This is others' comment on Liu Jing.
Don't be curious about Liu Jing just because of her appearance, and don't provoke her. If you provoke her, remember that the next person lying in Liu Jing's makeup room might be you. This is also what others warn people about behind their backs.
Liu Jing remembered that getting to know Chen Jun was purely a coincidence, and she had to thank Zhen for it, as it was Zhen who introduced her to Chen Jun.
"Let's go, let's go, we're going to eat seafood today." Zhen didn't leave Liu Jing's sight after dropping out of school and continued to rent a small room with her. The reason Liu Jing accompanied Zhen was so that she could earn money and take it back home for her brother's tuition fees.
Moreover, Liu Jing's hardworking parents had no time to accompany her or take care of her. So Liu Jing regarded Zhen as the most intimate and reliable family member, occupying more than half of Liu Jing's memories, probably because of this reason!
"I'm not going, I just came for that matter." Liu Jing's face was full of bitterness as she refused Zhen's invitation. Although it was Zhen's invitation, every time the host was actually Liu Jing. Zhen's family was very poor, with her parents and an extra brother born out of plan, and their savings were also gone due to fines.
It was because of this situation that Zhen entered society at the age of 16 and also contracted many bad habits in Liu Jing's eyes, smoking, gambling, not taking drugs, and rolling around on the emotional scene.
"Come on! I'll take you to see someone," said Jane, with a hint of shyness on her face.
"Who are you seeing? Your boyfriend?" Liu Jing was pulled up by her, lazily standing up and asking. If she were to see her boyfriend, Liu Jing would have been slightly more interested, but when it came to food, she wasn't too enthusiastic.
All the way, they arrived at a bustling cafe on Xihuan Road. Zhen might be a regular here, and as soon as she reached the entrance, a beautiful waitress and handsome waiter came to greet her, and their eyes, with ulterior motives, stopped abruptly on Liu Jing's body and kept rolling around non-stop.
"Ahem!" Liu Jing deliberately coughed, hinting to the other person not to lose their composure, then directly walked in. As for these places that belonged to the category of "unholy and eerie" in her eyes, it was really a difficult first time for her to come.
"Hello, Chen Jun."
"Ah, Liu Jing." A faint, subtle smile, a symbol of courtesy, without any pretence or hypocrisy. Looking at the other person with humility and politeness, her smiling face was a sight to behold, as Liu Jing made an effort to maintain the smile on her face for several seconds.
The other party stretched out a pair of neatly trimmed, nicotine-flavored hands, wanting to shake hands with Liu Jing's hand, but Liu Jing's hand seemed reluctant to touch the hand of a stranger who had just met for less than a minute.
