Chapter 5: The Dark River Encounter (2)

Chapter 5: The Dark River Encounter (2) Part 1

The space inside was much larger, we looked around and found a row of lanterns behind the stone gate. I and Jin Douzi each took a wooden stick and lit up all the lanterns one by one until the whole house was illuminated. At this time, the ground had stopped shaking, and our hanging hearts were finally put down.

"The yurt" is close to the cliff, and the inside of the cliff has been excavated, with a stone table placed inside. On the wall behind the stone table, there are murals painted, and the colors of the murals are very bright. As I walk closer to the murals, the first mural depicts a group of people wearing long robes standing in a place similar to a mountain cliff, holding something red in their hands, which looks like food.

The second mural still depicts this man, holding a sphere in his hand and standing between nine large vats, which resemble the shape of those I saw at Old Jin's house.

The third mural seemed to have been deliberately scratched with a knife and was already blurry, the state of the murals behind it was basically the same as that one. At this moment, Jin Douzi suddenly fell to the ground with a "pa" sound.

I hastily looked in his direction, only to see Jin Douzi with a helpless expression on his face, patting the ground and saying: "Unexpected, purely unexpected!"

But my eyes were drawn to something under his feet, I squatted down and gently poked around in the soil under Jin Douzi's feet, removing the dirt on top, revealing a black object. The shape of the thing was a bit strange, but I continued to dig down, and gradually the black object became more and more exposed, like a knife handle.

The shape of the knife handle was indeed strange, and as I continued to dig down, I hit a hard stone after digging for an inch or so, and couldn't dig any further. I shook the knife handle with force, then pulled it outwards, and Jin Douzi also helped me pull it outwards with all his might.

Suddenly, with a "crack" sound, our two bodies leaned back along the force, and that short knife had been forcibly pulled out.

The blade was only about ten centimeters long, the hilt was dark green and black, originally wrapped with some silk fabrics, but had carbonized, while the blade itself was well preserved, shining brightly, the only flaw being two small notches on it. But at this moment, I noticed that Jin Douzi beside me was trembling non-stop, I glanced at him, his eyes were staring straight at the short knife in my hand.

At this point, I couldn't care about all that anymore. I turned back to the "Mongolian tent", picked up a wooden stick and used it to lift up the knife and throw it aside. Then, I pulled out several wooden sticks from Jin Douzi's backpack, lit one of them and continued walking inwards. The further we walked, the more open our surroundings became, and the torch in my hand was unable to illuminate the entire space. We walked for about another two hours before we couldn't move anymore. At this time, Jin Douzi suddenly stopped and quickly lay down on the ground.

I stared at him in surprise, and before long, Jin Douzi stood up and said: "Luo Ze brother, there should be an underground river ahead."

I gazed at him in doubt, now too weak to argue with him about anything. I'd better conserve my energy and hope to find a way out before I run out of strength.

Who would have thought that I really got caught by Jin Douzi's words, and indeed there was a hidden river in front of me. The hidden river was tens of meters wide, with rapid currents. If I had seen such a magnificent underground hidden river before, I would definitely have jumped up in surprise, but now my life is at stake, how could I think so much? Now my only concern is how to cross this hidden river.

I stood by the river and picked up a larger stone and threw it in. However, even after a long time, I couldn't hear the sound of it sinking to the bottom.

"Can you swim?" Jin Douzi suddenly asked.

I smiled wryly and nodded, then put my hand into the water, which was icy cold. But Jin Douzi was already taking off his clothes at this time. I looked at him curiously and said, "Jin Douzi, you're not going to swim over, are you?"

"What else can we do? If we don't drown, we'll starve to death!"

Although, I would rather starve to death. Thinking about the feeling of being choked to death and the gruesome appearance after death makes me feel uncomfortable. As I thought of this, my eyes turned back to that wild chicken again. Jin Douzi was indeed a clever one, immediately realizing my intentions, and hastily stood in front of me saying: "I'll take it away."
