Chapter Thirty-Two: Is He Male?
After coming out, Ji Huali leaned against her chin and looked at her for a long time. Ji Suyin felt a bit embarrassed and pulled at her skirt. Unexpectedly, as soon as they came out, Ji Huali had already arranged for all the clothes to be packed up. Ji Suyin was stunned, how could this be? She didn't want to buy them! Ji Huali smiled and said she would give them to her as a gift. Ji Suyin declined for half a day, but Ji Huali wouldn't listen. Having no choice, Ji Suyin compromised, feeling uneasy about the obvious attempt to win her over. To be honest, Ji Huali didn't need to go to such lengths!
This made Ji Suyan even more suspicious. Later, Ji Suyan politely declined Ji Huali's invitation to dinner, saying she wanted to go back and take a bath and rest early.
Ji Huali hesitated for a moment, probably because she was also tired. As expected, Ji Huali nodded in agreement, and Ji Suyin secretly let out a sigh of relief - this kind of thing was simply torture! The two walked slowly on the road, when suddenly, a few cold touches landed on their faces, gentle and ticklish.
Ji Su's sound was stunned, and she raised her hand to touch. What? Is it raining? She looked up in doubt, looking at the old sun that had not yet sunk, wasn't it still sunny? The next moment, the sky answered her doubts. "Whoa!" A loud noise, heavy rain poured down! Passersby on the road immediately cried out and ran to find a place to hide.
Ji Suoyin let out a cry of surprise, one hand holding over a dozen bags, the other pulling Ji Huali to rush to the side. In front was a bus stop sign, although it was small, it could still provide some shelter. However, the sign was very small, and three people were already hiding behind it. A middle-aged man had taken refuge there, and the two of them quickened their pace to hide as well. Ji Suoyin sandwiched Ji Huali in between, then switched the bags from her left hand to her right, exposing her left half to the outside, where she was mercilessly drenched by the rainstorm, and soon half her body was soaked through.
Ji Huali shook off the water droplets on her hand with a gloomy expression, exclaiming: "What kind of terrible weather is this! It's infuriating! I hate it!" Ji Suyin stared blankly at the rain-soaked sky, which looked like a white, furry sun. She thought of two phrases - "June sky, child's face" and another term - "sun shower". But that didn't seem right... wasn't it almost November now? Although the weather here was quite warm...
Just as they were still daydreaming, a black Honda suddenly stopped in front of them. The window rolled down to reveal a face with a straight nose, very white skin, rosy lips and a slightly upturned mouth.
The two of them were a bit stunned, because the other person was wearing very large sunglasses, which made people have a strong desire to see what their face looked like without the sunglasses. If their eyes and eyebrows were good-looking, Ji Su Yun strongly believed that this was a pretty and delicate face. "Do you need any help?" Ji Su Yun was taken aback, this voice, was it male?
Ji Huali was also stunned, only staring at the man with wide eyes. Ji Suyan turned her head to look around and found that the middle-aged man had already snatched a taxi and left while she was dazed. She looked down at her own wet clothes and shoes, then lifted her head to awkwardly stare at the man.
The man's mouth slightly hooked, and he had been paying attention to her reaction from the beginning. "Uh... we're all soaked... might get your car seats wet..." The man chuckled: "Hehehe... doesn't matter, I don't mind, come on up! I'll give you a ride!"
Ji Huali immediately opened the car door with a smile and got in. Ji Suyin hesitated for a moment before also getting in. As soon as they sat down, she looked up to meet the gaze of the sunglasses-wearing driver in the rearview mirror. Ji Suyin nodded slightly: "Sorry about this! We're students at A University, just drop us off at the school gate, it's really close."
That man smiled, his teeth like a string of pearls, white and neat. "No problem, you didn't bring an umbrella, how are you going back to the dorm? I'm on my way anyway, so I'll send you to the dorm building!" Ji Su was about to thank him when Ji Huali suddenly interrupted: "Ah! It's really great! Um... what should we call you?"
That man smiled kindly: "My name is Chen Lingqing, you can call me Brother Chen!" Ji Huali smiled brightly: "Oh! Then thank you so much Brother Chen, you're really a good person! If it wasn't for you, we wouldn't know what to do!"
Chen Lingqing chuckled and said, "No big deal! I'm just passing by too!" Ji Huali tried to prolong the conversation: "Brother Chen, are you from A City? I feel like I've seen you somewhere before?" Chen Lingqing shook his head: "No! I haven't met you before! If I had met a beautiful woman like you, I would definitely remember it!" Ji Huali's face lit up with joy, while Ji Suyin couldn't help but shiver slightly... what a smooth talker!
She raised her head and saw Chen Lingqing wearing sunglasses, half of his face visible, unsure if it was an illusion, but just now he seemed to have hooked the corner of his mouth, with a hint of playful smile. Ji Suoyu hastily looked out the window in embarrassment, as Ji Huili and Chen Lingqing exchanged words back and forth. The raindrops hit the car window heavily, making a dull sound.
Innumerable fine water flows down, just like... tears! Ji SuYin really dislikes rainy days, her mood becomes uncontrollably depressed, and in her mind emerges all the things she would rather intentionally smash her brain to forget. Unconsciously falling into her own world, Ji SuYin gradually becomes silent, her eyes filled with emotions, dark and unclear.
Chen Lingqing responded to Ji Huali's witty remarks while occasionally glancing through the rearview mirror, gazing at Ji Suyin and seeing the deep sadness hidden in her eyes. Before long, the black Honda entered a large road, passing by the University Student Square, where Ji Suyin gazed out at the rain-soaked giant paulownia tree that seemed to be emitting a green glow. She raised her hand, tracing its outline through the chilly car window.
"Is Miss Ji wearing an amulet?" Ji Suoyun subconsciously turned her head, feeling Chen Lingqing's gaze through the rearview mirror, and reached out to touch her neck.
The small purse had slipped out of her collar, and she slowly put it back, her movements careful. "Yes! This was given to me by a kind person!" Chen Lingqing smiled and didn't say anything else. Fortunately, the journey wasn't far, and they soon arrived at the dormitory building.
Two people got off the car, Ji Su-yin repeatedly thanked Chen Ling-qing several times before turning around and rushing into the building. Looking at Ji Su-yin's back, Chen Ling-qing had one hand on the steering wheel and the other gently tapping his index finger on his lips, expressionless. In the end, it was just a cold hum, starting the engine and leaving.
As soon as they returned to the dormitory, Ji Huali rushed into the bathroom to take a bath. Ji Suyin had no choice but to sit on the chair and wipe her hair first, waiting for Ji Huali to come out before going in to wash up. Huang Xiaoyu and Yan Fen'er hurried over to ask how she was doing. Ji Suyin shook her head and briefly explained the situation.
"Huang Xiaoyu took out the clothes and flipped over the label, and couldn't help but gasp: "Ah yo! My dear! She's really splurged this time! Buying such expensive things to bribe you, if you don't behave yourself, how ungrateful can you be?! Huang Xiaoyu was hit with a towel and gestured towards the bathroom with her eyes, lowering her voice: "Keep your voice down! We understand each other, no need to make it so obvious, this matter is still uncertain! To succeed, it's up to others to decide, all we can do is wait and see. I think tomorrow might be your turn!"
Huang Xiaoyu hastily showed a fed-up expression, shaking her head repeatedly: "I'd rather not, I can't afford it, don't owe anyone favors! This is the survival philosophy my mom taught me!"
Ji Suoyin smiled and went back to her desk to surf the internet, while Ji Huili came out. Later that night, it was raining outside and nobody wanted to go out for dinner, so they ordered takeout instead. Ji Suoyin ate a few bites casually and lay down on her bed to watch "Spring Autumn" (a TV show).
After a busy afternoon, her body was already very tired, and she felt soft all over. She hadn't turned many pages before her eyes gradually became blurry. Ji Suoyu casually took off her glasses and put them on the pillow, then flipped onto her side and hugged the quilt, falling into a deep sleep. It was a dreamless night, and when Ji Suoyu opened her eyes, she slowly came to. The light in the room was still very dim, and it wasn't fully daylight yet. She had gone to bed too early last night; normally, after sleeping for nine hours, she would wake up.
Lying in bed, staring at the ceiling with unblinking eyes, Qisu's mind was numb, unsure of what she was thinking or if she was thinking anything at all. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind. Her right hand reflexively reached under the pillow and grabbed something, slowly bringing it to her face. Her pupils constricted momentarily before dilating again. With great force, Qisu tossed aside the soft object in her hand, her legs twitching nervously as she shifted her body towards the wall corner.
Wrapped tightly in a quilt, Ji Su's mouth was wide open, but no sound came out. Panting heavily, Ji Su grasped her hair with both hands and scratched it violently, again and again, with such great force that many strands were torn off. Clenching her teeth, Ji Su buried her head between her bent knees, her eyes burning hot, her chest feeling suffocated, and her heart aching terribly!
