Chapter Fourteen: A Life-Saving Favor
Mo saw the yellowish pendant lying quietly in Xuan Yu's hand, his slender fingers clenched tightly, his short fingernails deeply embedded in his palm.
That's exactly the third Soul Reaper!
Mo Mo suppressed her emotions and asked Xuan Yu "Is this..."
"Ji Hun Qi is a divine artifact of Loulan's prayers. It was originally a pair, but I gave one away."
"What's a Jijin Gui? What is it used for?" Li Wuye looked at the flashing yellow glow of the Soul Returning Instrument, slowly approaching Xuan Yu.
"Use it to pray for a marriage, no matter how impossible it is, it will go smoothly." Xuan Yu handed the soul-calling instrument to Qian Jue Se, who solemnly placed it in her pale hand. Qian Jue Se immediately returned the instrument to Xuan Yu, "Such a precious gift, I am unworthy of receiving it, besides you are the prince, our emperor ordered me to safely escort you back to the capital." Qian Jue Se said expressionlessly, then stood up and adjusted her clothes. She instructed the soldiers that they could set off back to the capital.
The news of the bloodless victory was transmitted back to the capital one step ahead, and on the next morning, an order was issued that everyone in the palace should not treat Loulan Prince Xuan Ye as a surrendered general, but as a visiting noble guest.
"Princess" Qian Jue Se was riding a horse in front of Mo Mo's carriage, following closely behind. She respectfully said to the person inside the curtain, "We are almost arriving at the capital city, but it is already late. I'm afraid we will have to trouble Your Highness to stay overnight at the General's residence and enter the palace tomorrow to pay respects."
"Whatever." Mo didn't have the leisure to carefully consider Qian's words, otherwise he wouldn't have gone to the General's residence, and there wouldn't be the later danger.
"Han Lin! There's a pillow over there, my legs are numb." Mo Mo tried to move the head on his lap, but couldn't budge it. He stole a glance at Li Wu Ye, who was polishing the Tian Xin sword with a cold glint, and didn't look this way. With a dejected expression, he looked at Han Lin, who was leisurely combing his hair, and Mo Mo felt a bit uncomfortable in his heart.
Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew across his face, and he felt the person on his leg stiffen. It turned out that Li Wuye had placed the Tianxin Sword on Han Lin's neck.
"Leave Mo Mo alone." Han Lin's two fingers pinched the sword tip, and he moved lightly.
"Alright, then. Don't lie down here." Han Lin finally let go of Mo Mo's leg and sat up, tidying his disheveled hair. Li Wu Ye also put away the Tian Xin sword. Just as he was about to roll over and rest for a while, he saw Han Lin's figure move swiftly, like lightning. Li Wu Ye froze in place, unable to move.
"Hey, Leafless. I'm a bit tired. Can I borrow your leg to rest for a while?" Han Lin said, adjusting Li Wuye's position so that his stomach was on the ground, and finding a comfortable spot. He closed his eyes contentedly, ignoring Li Wuye's murderous glare. Mo Mo smiled nervously beside them, shaking her head, and not daring to look at Li Wuye's pleading face. "Aren't you all-knowing? How did you not see this coming?" Mo Mo teased, but after a moment, she saw Li Wuye frowning, looking at his numb legs, and thought about waking Han Lin up. Her outstretched hand stopped mid-air, because she saw Li Wuye's expectant smile. The words he had said that day echoed in her ears: "Because I want you to fall in love with me, willingly change the color of the Soul-Calling Device back."
Withdraw your hand. The eyes are dim. Look down to one side. Only concerned with sorrow, Mo Mo didn't see the flash of loss in Li Wuye's eyes.
The horse carriage stopped and then heard a thousand absolute voices passing through the door "Princess, we have arrived at the General's Mansion."
As soon as Mo Mo got off the carriage, she saw the starry sky. "It's already dark," she thought to herself. She turned around to call Han Lin and Li Wu Ye, but instead saw Han Lin carrying Li Wu Ye out of the carriage. Following Qian Jue Se into the general's mansion, without regard for Li Wu Ye's tightly closed eyes or the whispers of the crowd below, they arrived at the bedroom arranged by Qian Jue Se with an air of majesty. Mo Mo followed behind, watching as Han Lin put Li Wu Ye on the bed and was about to untie his belt. Mo Mo froze, then rushed forward, grabbing Han Lin's hand and flinging it aside. Han Lin tried to pull Mo Mo down by her clothes, but she was trying to help Li Wu Ye adjust his clothes. Just then, Qian Jue Se pushed open the door and saw Han Lin standing beside the bed, wanting to get in. Mo Mo was half-lying on top of Li Wu Ye, who was frowning in pain with his shirt half-off... Everyone froze, not moving for a moment.
"Uh... Princess, rest well, Qian certain bids farewell." Swallowing the words she wanted to say, Qian Jue Se exited the bedroom.
"Oh no!" Mo Mo exclaimed, hastily covering Li Wu Ye with a quilt and dragging Han Lin to chase after Qian Jue Se.
"General Qian, wait a minute!" Mo Mo shouted while running. When she ran to the front of Qian Jue Se, she grabbed his sleeve with her remaining hand, afraid that he would run away.
"Qian will not disturb the princess's rest then." The pressure almost made Mo collapse, she steadied herself and opened her mouth "General Qian misunderstood, they are just my bodyguards..." Qian's pressure was too strong, Mo didn't dare to look at his face.
"That's the princess' private matter, no need to explain it to Qian Mou." Qian Jue Se looked at Mo Mo holding hands with Han Lin, and her mouth curved slightly. She turned around and walked towards Hu Xin Xiao Zhu. Mo Mo followed Qian Jue Se's line of sight and saw his own hand holding Han Lin's, quickly letting go, and chased after her again.
"General! It's not what you think!" Mo Mo hastily pulled Qian Jue Se. The latter freed his arm from Mo Mo's hand, "Princess, please restrain yourself!"
"What's the point of telling him all this?" Han Lin hung his body on Mo Mo. Successfully forcing out Qian Jue Se's contemptuous feelings. After he walked far away, Han Lin whispered in Mo Mo's ear "Li Wu Ye has been poisoned, hurry back."
"What?" Mo Mo exclaimed and immediately covered her mouth. She looked at Han Lin, asking with her eyes "Really" Han Lin nodded.
When Mo and Han Lin flew back to the room, they saw Qian Jue Hu take a black silver needle from Li Wu Ye's left chest and drop it into Shui Ru Yu's tray with a "ding" sound. Qian Jue Hu stood up and walked to Mo's side, "He's fine now, by the way, there's a traitor among you. If you were pricked by this needle, even the great Luo god couldn't save you." After finishing speaking, she patted Mo's shoulder, glanced at Han Lin, then left with Shui Ru Yu, leaving behind Li Wu Ye with his robe open.
Mo walked forward, adjusted his collar, wrung out the towel from the water and wiped away Li Wuye's sweat, "Han Lin, untie his restraints." Mo saw that Li Wuye's expression was very painful, and he felt a pang in his heart.
Han Lin untied Li Wu Ye's belt and lay down beside him, ready to take care of him at any moment. Mo Mo returned to the bedroom, lying on the bed staring at the ceiling with no sleepiness. There were too many things in her mind, thinking about when Li Wu Ye was poisoned? Before Han Lin saved him? Then why didn't Han Lin treat him instead? After that? Why didn't he tell me? Do we have a traitor? Who is it? Qian Jue Se? But he's the one who got close to the carriage, so why did Qian Jue Huo tell me these things? Ah, come to think of it, at the small wooden house, Du Gu Ying Er asked me to go to Jiang Jun Fu. It turns out that Qian Jue Huo is Qian Jue Se's younger sister. So isn't this equivalent to telling me: Qian Jue Se is a traitor? Only Qian Jue Se got close to the carriage... Mo Mo, unable to figure it out, slowly fell asleep while thinking.
Outside the window, Li Wuye took a look at MoMo who was sleeping soundly, turned around and flew out of the small courtyard, drifting away into the distance. A figure followed closely behind him.
