Chapter Six A Guest Room
I bought a ticket and got on the train. I collapsed into my seat, rubbing my shoulders and said, "Will there be no place to stay if we arrive so late?"
"No." Jiang Zhun said as he scrolled through his phone, "I've already booked a hotel room."
"Can't you stop being so impulsive and think things through before acting?"
"Shu Ling, if you're tired, why don't you take a nap?" Jiang Zhun shifted over towards me, indicating that I could lean on his shoulder.
I imagined such a Mary Sue scenario, but I still feel a bit unable to accept it. Mainly because Jiang Zhen is too good-looking as the romantic male lead, and I think I don't have the qualifications of a romantic female lead, so let's not do something that goes against heaven and reason.
"Do you want to go to Nanjing for fun?" I casually brought up a topic and asked.
"Jiang nodded: 'Do you know when the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Day is?'"
"December 13th." I replied.
"There are still many stories in the Nanjing Massacre Memorial Hall, and as we get closer to this memorial day, we can hear more things that are not in historical records." Jiang Zhun smiled.
I suddenly realized: "You want to go listen to stories? But why? Hey, we're here to receive punishment now, not out on a tour."
Jiang Zhun smiled complacently: "No, this is one thing."
"What? What kind of noodles are you selling?" I was even more confused.
Jiang stretched out his hand and hooked me with his finger, just like Zhu Tingting. I leaned in, and he whispered: "I have a way to make the organization not punish us."
I was stunned, being able to avoid punishment from the organization is a good thing after all. Having abilities but not being able to use them for an entire year is still quite frustrating. But the problem is that the organization's penalty notice has already been issued, how can it be changed now?
"My father is the captain of the municipal police department's criminal investigation team. He mentioned a case to me over the past two days, which happened in Nanjing." Jiang said in a low voice, "A hotel in Nanjing has had several guests go missing one after another. The police have been investigating from all angles but haven't found any leads. Although he isn't in charge of that area, I actually want to go take a look."
I raised an eyebrow, so that's what the official second generation is like. No wonder he was so calm and composed when we first entered the police station. He's actually the young master of the police station. It's just like in ancient times, the young master of the county magistrate's family could enter the county government office with ease.
I raised an eyebrow: "You don't think it's a ghost haunting again, do you?"
"I don't know if it's true or not, but I think we should go take a look. Anyway, we're free and have nothing better to do, and if we happen to catch them in the act, then that's even more reason for us to ask the organization to pardon our past mistakes." Jiang Zhun shrugged his shoulders, looking relaxed and pleased with himself.
I must say that I really admire him, he actually helped me solve the problem of asking for leave within a few hours after receiving the notice, and came up with such a harmless and beneficial method. This kind of adaptability is not something ordinary people like me can match.
What's wrong with his head?
"Are you curious about what's going on in my head?" Jiang Zhun seemed to guess what I was thinking, and smiled at me lightly.
I chuckled twice and said, "It's just a fertilized egg developing after all."
Jiang Zhun: "......"
Nothing else was said, I leaned back in my chair and dozed off for a while. As I dozed, someone came over and gently pulled my head to the side, and I rested against something solid, lightly rubbing against it before continuing to sleep. A refreshing dry air surrounded me, enveloping me without my realizing it.
I don't know how long it took, but Jiang Zhun's voice suddenly sounded in my ear: "Shu, Shu, wake up. We're here."
I shuddered all over and then woke up: "Huh? Arrived?"
"Come on, let's get off." Jiang Zhun helped me carry my backpack and took me off the high-speed train.
After leaving the train station, it was already past 9 pm. Jiang Zhun hailed a taxi and gave an address. The driver looked like a talkative person and chatted with us about everything under the sun.
"Wrong direction." Jiang Zhun suddenly spoke up, "Trying to lead us in circles?"
The driver smiled and asked: "Are you a local?"
Jiang Zhun didn't say a word, with an expression that said "I saw through you long ago, don't think you can fool me". I couldn't help but laugh out loud, looking at the phone navigation in his hand, feeling speechless.
Most people would rather believe the driver than the phone's navigation. After all, phone navigation can only provide a general direction and is not very reliable. But Jiang Zhun had the guts to do so, because this mobile navigation APP was said to be written by himself.
I sighed and thought to myself that apart from dissecting corpses, I seemed to be unable to do anything else.
"Am I supposed to be a forensic doctor in the future, dissecting corpses while chatting with the souls of the dead and asking them where they'd like me to make the incision look better?" I lamented, unaware that I had spoken my inner thoughts out loud.
Jiang Zhun coughed lightly, and the driver's hand shook, almost driving off the road.
When I arrived at the destination, I found that the hotel we were going to stay in was called "Jinhe International Hotel". The name is indeed high-end, and the waiter standing at the door is also very handsome.
He walked up to the front desk, pulled out a VIP card and asked for a room.
I grabbed his hand as he handed over the card: "Wait a minute, why just one room?"
Jiang Zhen looked at me with a hint of a smile: "One room is enough."
"No way!" I said with a straight face, but in my heart, I was thinking: A young girl like me and such a handsome bachelor alone in one room... if nothing happens, it would be a waste of this great opportunity.
The front desk sister couldn't help but laugh: "Eh, miss, this gentleman has booked our hotel's suite, which is divided into a bathroom, a living room and two separate bedrooms, so you can rest assured."
