Chapter 27: Hiding the Corpse
Wang Ke hastily snatched the flashlight from Tian Mi's hand and shone it towards that corner of the wall. As the light moved, her hands were trembling, but when the light landed on that corner, what entered her line of sight was a few disordered spider webs and a dull gray wall.
"Ke'er sister, what's wrong?" Tian Mi looked at Wang Ke's flustered appearance and asked in puzzlement.
"Shadow, did you see the shadow just now? It was crouching right there!" Wang Ke pointed to the corner of the wall, his breathing slightly hurried.
"Shadow? Li Yu, did you see it?" Tian Mi's face showed a look of surprise, then she lowered her head and looked down at the ground.
If there is a bright light under Tian Mi's feet at this moment, then you will definitely see a shadow shaking its head.
"Am I seeing things?" Wang rubbed his forehead and muttered to himself, "Maybe it's just my lingering fear of the mysterious figure from before."
When they reached the bottom of the stairs on B2, the scene before their eyes was shocking. A deep and narrow passageway appeared in front of them. Wang Ke hastily took out her flashlight and shone it around, although the visibility wasn't far, she had basically confirmed that this passageway was the same one she had been to before. That feeling that almost made her suffocate came back again.
At this moment, a loud "slap" sound was heard, the corridor's pendant lamp flickered with white light, and Wang Ke's arm trembled suddenly, dropping the flashlight to the ground, rolling out one or two meters away.
"Really, sis? I was just turning on the light!" Tian Mi looked at Wang Ke with embarrassment, pointing to the switch on the wall.
Wang Ke looked back at Tian Mi, whose slightly panicked face suddenly became embarrassed, and awkwardly said: "Dead girl, turning on the light without warning me first, almost scared me to death."
With the light on, the aisle was naturally bright and clear. Wang Ke's complexion also looked a bit better, but after a while, Wang Ke became melancholic again, muttering: "Why does this lamp keep jumping non-stop, it's endless! It's really annoying!"
"It's better to have something than nothing at all, little sister!" Tian Mi comforted.
At this time, Wang Ke seemed to have ignored Tian Mi's words and stared intently at the iron gate at the far end of the corridor, her expression solemn.
The same path, the same iron gate, will it be the same parking lot outside the door?
"Ke'er sister, why are you staring at that door? That door is the entrance to the delivery room, we've arrived!"
Tian Mi's voice was small, but it was like thunder in Wang Ke's ears. He seemed to not dare believe what he had just heard and exclaimed: "What did you say? That, that is the entrance of the mortuary, but last time I passed by this door, outside was clearly a parking garage!"
Tian Mi's face turned even paler than Wang Ke's upon hearing this, her originally ashen complexion suddenly becoming as cold as frost.
"How...how did you get through this door?"
Wang Ke looked at Tian Mi's suddenly changed complexion, and couldn't help but tremble slightly. The flickering lamp flames undoubtedly added fuel to the fire, dyeing the atmosphere with a few shades of horror.
"How did I get in? The door wasn't locked at the time! I just opened it and went in"
"No lock? Impossible! This door has only been opened a few times since it was built, and I've only come here once." Tian Mi said in surprise.
The two men looked at each other in dismay, and after a moment, they both cautiously moved towards the iron gate without saying a word.
After a while, they finally approached the iron gate. The door frame was covered with rust, and the white paint on the surface had peeled off in layers of brittle skin, which looked like it hadn't been maintained for years.
Two men stood at the door, their heads bowed and staring at the unlocked door with an unusually tense expression, as if no one dared to enter rashly.
Push open this strange and dilapidated iron gate.
They could not have imagined what would be presented before their eyes after the door opened. Was it a parking lot, or a cold morgue? Or something else...
A chill crept in through the cracks of the door, like a thousand knives stabbing at her.
Wang Ke stuck to the door frame and looked inside through the gap. It was pitch black, but he felt a refreshing chill coming in waves, which was quite comfortable.
"Wow! It's already 11:30, and there's only half an hour left until 12 o'clock!" Tian Mi stared at Wang Ke's wrist.
Wang Ke heard Tian Mi's words and his whole body shook violently. Summoning courage from somewhere, he suddenly pushed open the door and rushed in.
The flickering light from the corridor shines into the room, casting two elongated shadows that appear particularly eerie. On both sides, a row of refrigerators for storing corpses are lined up.
"Where did you put Wang? Can't just leave him in the fridge, can we?" Tian Mi looked around and found nothing but the fridge, empty and bare.
Wang Ke didn't answer Tian Mi's question, but instead walked towards the depths of the room. Suddenly, his eyes lit up and he exclaimed excitedly: "It's hidden here!"
