Chapter 21: Shadow

  Chapter Twenty-One Shadow

Wang couldn't suppress the fear in her heart, and let out another scream. She suddenly rushed out of the door, and when she stopped, she didn't realize that she was standing in a large hall, with no one around, complete silence, only her almost distorted shadow accompanying her. The white light seemed to have washed away her lonely shadow, making it look even more desolate.

At that moment, she seemed to feel a strange sensation on the soles of her feet. She subconsciously lowered her head and suddenly changed color. Her originally ugly complexion turned pale, without a hint of blood. She felt as if the air around her had solidified, almost suffocating her.

She saw that there were two shadows under her feet, but the hall was only lit by one lamp, so she was sure that the second shadow did not belong to her. Where did this shadow come from? She suddenly thought of the female ghost she had bumped into in the bathroom. She stared at the shadow on the ground that didn't belong to her, her eyes not daring to blink once. It seemed as if she was worried that if she blinked, her own shadow would be swallowed up.

However, at this moment, the shadow suddenly trembled and then slowly lengthened. Suddenly, the shadow stood up, its head close to Wang Ke's cheek, as if using a pair of pitch-black eyes to stare at Wang Ke. Wang Ke immediately closed his eyes tightly, and after several breaths, the surroundings were still quiet, with no unusual signs.

Wang Ke seemed to have fantasized that the shadow had left, she slowly opened her eyes, but the shadow still stood quietly in front of her, silent and soundless.

Wang Ke was so scared that she immediately ran away, but she didn't think that after running a few steps, she found that there was no way to go forward and no way to retreat. It was difficult to advance and even more difficult to retreat. In such a predicament, only one staircase was in front of her, so she had only two choices: either go up or down. Going upstairs was definitely not an option, as it would be a dead end, and she would eventually be forced to jump off the building. As for going downstairs, she didn't know what was hidden below, and she had heard that hospital morgues were usually underground.

Wang Ke thought of this and felt that he was doomed anyway, so he steeled himself and decided to take a gamble, rushing straight downstairs.

However, the future is pitch black. Perhaps it's because my eyes can't adapt to the darkness underground in a short time. I only feel a blackness in front of me, and suddenly one foot falls empty. In an instant, I tumble down the stairs. Fortunately, there's only one more section of stairs left, but my bare feet are vaguely painful. She turns her head to look back, that shadow has almost merged with the darkness in front of her eyes.

Wang Ke immediately grabbed the handrail of the stairs and stood up with a bit of effort, dragging her injured foot forward slowly. The darkness had completely engulfed the shadows behind her, making it impossible for her to discern their exact position. At this moment, an unprecedented fear accumulated in her heart. Even though there were two people accompanying her last night, now she was alone and helpless.

She suddenly remembered that she could use her mobile phone to light up, so she hastily took out the phone from her pocket and borrowed the dim light of the silver screen. Only then did she discover that in front of her was a deep underground corridor. At this moment, it seemed as if she had cursed all the leaders of the hospital, who were as stingy as Iron Rooster, unwilling to even turn on a single light.

But the dim light also cast a shadow behind her, and the loneliness and silence seemed to add to her fear, making him lose his soul. She looked at the deep corridor and continued to escape, hoping that the end of the corridor would bring her the dawn of survival.

But what appeared in front of her was a large iron gate that was tightly closed, and she continued to move forward with a glimmer of hope. When he ran to the door, a gust of cold wind blew through the small gap between the doors, piercing her skin like needles, making her shiver all over. The three words "Peaceful Interval" floated in her mind once again.
