Chapter Eleven: Absurd Joke
Fierce jumping, the prince was already exhausted, his muscles were tired and weak. On this almost suffocating hot night, the scattered dead ash clouds in the sky seemed to be gathering at a visible speed, covering the sky and endless. The mountain wind howled wildly, like a ghost crying, like a wolf howling!
The king looked at the monster just a few feet behind him, had wanted to give up many times, but his heart was filled with a desire for survival, driving his already wounded soul.
The vast road ahead has come into view, which was his original goal for running, but now he is physically exhausted, and every step he takes may cause him to fall, stopping to rest has become the greatest luxury for him.
Suddenly a dazzling flash of lightning illuminated the pitch-black mountain wall, accompanied by deafening thunder.
Just now I was busy running around, but I didn't realize that I had already run to the foot of the mountain. The mountain body is steep and precipitous, with no possibility of climbing, and in front of me is a dead end.
The prince seemed to have given up all hope, panting heavily, and suddenly turned around, his back tightly attached to the cliff, his hands wandering on the rock wall, as if he wanted to pry off a few pieces of gravel from the hard stone for self-defense.
Grandma Wang stopped chasing and slowly approached Wang Chu, her ferocious face was terrifying to the extreme, with not a hint of breath at the corner of her mouth.
The prince's dim and desperate eyes stared fixedly at Queen Wang, who was slowly approaching him, as he tightly hugged the cliff and inched backward.
"Thump... thump... thump, what a pleasant heartbeat!"
Grandma Wang raised her hands, palms opening and closing as if telling Wang Chu that his heart was about to jump out.
"Are you ready!" Grandma Wang's mouth suddenly cracked open.
Just then, another flash of lightning, and in an instant it was gone; but they seemed to have discovered at the same moment a narrow opening in the rock face, just large enough for one person to crawl through, and this opening was only an arm's length from the prince.
The prince grasped the last straw, exerted his last bit of strength, turned around and rushed into the cave. He felt a sharp pain in his bare feet as he was caught by a stiff hand, with sharp fingernails seemingly embedded in his skin, blood dripping down.
His bare feet pushed against the huge pulling force, wanting to pull him out of the cave. Wang Zhuo refused to give up and grabbed the protruding rocks inside the cave with both hands, while his other foot kicked fiercely at Grandma Wang who was trying to grab his other hand.
The prince knew that once he was pulled out, it would be worse than death, and he would die a terrible death.
Wang Chu struggled desperately, his loose sneakers had rubbed the skin off his feet, and the flesh was exposed, blood and flesh blurred together, the pain had already numbed him.
He struggled free, his shoes slipping off with stiff dry skin, sharp fingernails scraping across the sole of his foot and tearing out a one-inch gash, fresh blood squeezing out of the skin and dripping from his toes.
After breaking free, Wang Zhuo quickly drilled into the depths of the cave, without looking back. But after climbing a few steps, he heard a violent impact from the entrance of the cave. Wang Zhuo turned his head and looked back, and couldn't help but feel excited, suppressing the excitement in his heart. Wang Zhuo raised his head and shouted loudly: "Haha, it's destined that I, Wang Zhuo, will not die today! Haha!"
As soon as Wang Cang spoke, he immediately provoked the cold words of Wang Nainai at the entrance of the cave: "Little boy, don't be proud!" However, his body was too thick and couldn't fit into the hole.
Although temporarily in a safe place, I was still frightened by Grandma Wang's cold words and broke out in a cold sweat. After all, things are unpredictable, and I'm afraid she'll suddenly become thin and drill in.
The prince did not sit and wait for death, but instead crawled forward along the cave, the inside of which was pitch black, unable to see his fingers when he stretched out his hand. After a while, the prince worried that Grandma Wang would catch up with him, so he perked up his ears to listen carefully, but didn't dare stop moving, only hearing the rubbing sound of his knees below, and no other sounds behind him. Suddenly, the big stone in his heart fell down.
Wang Chu crawled for a while, raised his head and saw the faint light in front of him: "That's the entrance to the cave!"
At this time, he was like seeing the sky again, feeling happy and uneasy, always feeling that there was something waiting for him at the entrance of the cave.
Perhaps it was the darkness inside the cave that deprived him of his sense of direction, and he had no idea that all his struggles just now were merely circling around in the cave.
He crept quietly to within a few meters of the entrance, holding his breath and listening for any sound outside the cave, but there was only silence.
"Could it be that I really escaped?" Wang Chu thought to himself.
It seems that the quieter he is, the more uneasy he becomes, his heart almost jumping out of his throat. If there was any movement outside the cave, at least he could guess whether it was Wang Nainai or not. But this deathly silence made him feel like danger was lurking everywhere outside the cave. He couldn't stay here forever, so he crawled to the entrance and peeked out, observing what was outside. Suddenly, he was left speechless. Oh God, it seemed that heaven was playing a ridiculous joke on him. The place was still the same, but he had discovered another entrance just a few meters away from the original one. It turned out that the entrance he came in through had been destroyed by Wang Nainai.
"Where did she go?" Wang Chu's voice trembled, and he suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, straight to his brain.
A faint "Hss! Hss! Hss!" continuous friction sound, rapidly approaching from behind, the sound getting louder and louder, seemingly at an extremely high speed!
Wang Chu's heart sank: "Oh no! She's behind me!" Instantly, he exerted himself to lift his exhausted body with both hands, jumped out of the cave, and sprinted down the road like a madman.
The feeling of the gloomy soul lingering on made Wang Chu feel even more tired.
……
The off-road vehicle was driving slowly on the mountain road, and didn't turn on its headlights, perhaps because the two women were being overly cautious.
"Ke'er sister, we've been driving around in circles and still haven't seen Wang Chu. What if something's happened? I'm so worried!" Tian Mi said anxiously from the passenger seat.
At this moment, Wang Ke's heart was in a mess.
"Look quickly, it seems like there's someone there!" Tian Mi pointed at the figure on the mountain slope.
Wang Ke's eyesight was better than Tian Mi's, and he recognized that it was Wang Zhu. Suddenly, a wave of excitement surged through him, and he exclaimed: "It's Wang Zhu, it's Wang Zhu, he's not dead!"
Tian Mi's face showed uncontainable excitement upon hearing this.
But the next moment their rosy faces suddenly turned pale.
Because behind Wang Zhuo's back was a figure that made them fearful, and the distance between them was getting shorter by the meter.
The prince got on the road, and behind him, Grandma Wang had one foot already on the flat asphalt road.
Just then, the suddenly lit lamp made Wang Chu greatly surprised.
Only a familiar and sweet cry was heard, lingering in his ears: "Wang Chu, dodge quickly!"
The silly prince suddenly became as agile as a frog and jumped out of the road.
Wang Ke suddenly floored it, and the tires let out a sharp, ear-piercing screech. The car shot forward like a rainbow streaking across the sky, slamming into the zombies with incredible force, sending them flying over ten meters away.
Three people stared at the corpse lying quietly on the ground, and after a while, there was no unusual phenomenon.
He couldn't help but let out a sigh of relief.
The feeling of reunion suddenly surged up in the hearts of the three people.
Tian Mi opened the car door, took a few steps closer to Wang Chu, and couldn't help but tightly hug him, leaning on his shoulder with tears in her eyes: "Fool, I thought you were dead!"
Wang Chu's hands were tied, but his heart was warm and fuzzy! He gently patted Tian Mi's back and softly said: "I'm fine, don't be sad anymore!"
Perhaps it was Wang Zhuo's inappropriate response that made Tian Mi struggle out of his arms, and he said with a smile: "Don't be silly, you're the one who's sad, I'm just excited and happy!"
The Crown Prince was amused and laughed heartily.
"Look at you two being so lovey-dovey, why don't you go back and indulge in each other some more? We have to leave here immediately!" Wang Ke teased.
Tian Mi's face turned red like a watermelon, and Wang Cang was also embarrassed for a moment. He didn't expect that Wang Ke would also have gossip sometimes.
Just as Wang Zhuang was about to get on the car, he suddenly thought of something and said: "Wait a minute, we must burn the body!"
Wang Ke and Tian Mi were both filled with doubts, just as they were about to ask, Wang Chu said: "It's a long story, I'll tell you slowly when we get back!"
Because it was a rural area with no gas stations, Wang Ke had prepared some gasoline before departure, and now it came in handy.
Wang Chu took out a small bottle of gasoline from the back seat and poured it on the corpse.
The pungent smell of burning filled the air, extremely unpleasant, irritating every nerve in the three people's bodies.
……
Half an hour later, the car was still driving on the rugged mountain road. Wang Ke's driving skills made Wang Chu admire him endlessly, but Wang Chu had no heart to praise him.
"We've been walking for so long, how come we still haven't gotten out of the mountain!" Wang Cang felt something was off and furrowed his brow.
At this moment, Wang Ke also had a worried look on his face, looking somewhat anxious.
"I don't know either, I've always been driving according to the navigation instructions, how did it...!"
"Was it a ghost hitting the wall?" Wang Cang seemed to recall a story that the older generation had told before.
Wang Ke didn't flinch, she had heard of the "ghost hitting the wall" phenomenon before. Scientifically speaking, it was a case of biological disorientation at night, where the surrounding reference points were similar, causing her to walk in circles in the same spot.
Although the mountain road is rugged and a bit similar, I have navigation, but somehow I'm circling in one place.
Two people's faces were dull and they fell into a deep river of thought.
"Ah......! Stop the car!" Tian Mi suddenly shrieked.
All I saw was a cliff in front of me, and the car was heading towards it at an even speed.
