Chapter 9: The Truth Revealed
Her memories were fragmented, like a withering rose, the gentle breeze blew by, and the scattered petals drifted away, as if her original memories had been washed clean, swept away in an instant.
She remembered that when they set off, there were only two people in the car - her and Chu Jing, and she had no impression of Sun Haoming at all, until a man got on the bus on S484 Provincial Road, this man was Sun Haoming, she didn't even know why she let a strange man get on the bus.
She even suspected that she had suffered from transient amnesia.
She was terrified, turning her head to look at her own arm, only to see a pale hand that seemed to have been frostbitten, emitting an aura of death. The owner of this hand was Sun Haoming beside her, his once plump body now rapidly shrinking like a deflated balloon, leaving behind a grayish skin bag wrapped around a skeletal frame that seemed to crumble at the slightest touch.
Wang Ke witnessed all of this. She, who had always remained calm, was now pale with terror and couldn't help but tremble with fear, completely immersed in shock.
Just as she was terrified and at a loss, suddenly, a flashlight from her side fiercely smashed towards the withered and dead gray arm, "crack" sounded, the smashed arm broke off from the wrist, but there was not a single trace of blood at the broken place.
His arm had just broken off, Wang Zhuo quickly pulled Wang Ke and turned around to run, opening up some distance with Sun Hao Ming.
"Wang Cun, you scoundrel, Tian Mi is still behind!" Wang Ke exclaimed urgently.
"Tian Mi is dead!" Wang Zhuo's voice suddenly became choked, and he panted. Originally, he didn't want to let Wang Ke know about this, but the truth would eventually come out.
Wang Ke immediately stopped in his tracks, his eyes overflowing with countless threads of sorrow and pain, but even more so was incredulity, shaking his head as he said: "No, it can't be!"
The king's reserve again shone the flashlight in its original direction, and the light seemed to have become a medium for conveying despair and grief. Only Tian Mi's eyes were red and swollen as she ran towards them, crying uncontrollably. Perhaps it was the abandonment that made her feel lonely and desolate, or perhaps it was fear that made her lose her footing.
"Do you see her shadow?"
Wang Ke looked down at Tian Mi's feet, and suddenly, tears had already welled up in her eyes. She would rather have herself standing there instead of Tian Mi, going through childhood together, completing their studies together, walking into the college entrance examination hall together... every detail made Wang Ke hard to forget. In her ears echoed Tian Mi's sweet and lovely voice "Ke'er sister, Ke'er sister", they were like close sisters.
Just let go of Tian Mi, Wang couldn't do it. She didn't want Tian Mi to be so lonely and sad. She wanted Tian Mi to be happy, even if she became a ghost, she had to be happy.
She shook off Wang Chu's hand and ran towards Tian Mi.
Wang Chu seemed to be feeling guilty and unbearable for abandoning Tian Mi when he suddenly saw Sun Hao Ming standing at the side with a sly smile, his lower jaw almost bursting out of his skin, making people feel disgusted, stumbling forward.
"Hurry up, you two! He's coming!" Wang Chu shouted with a frown.
Wang Ke seemed to ignore him, but Wang Ke, enraged by hatred, pulled out a black thing from her waist. She wanted to avenge Tian Mi, and suddenly two deafening gunshots rang out across the sky. Two bullets hit Sun Haoming's eyebrows, and with a loud thud, his body fell heavily to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Ke'er sister, you broke the rules and brought a gun!" Tian Mi said with a hint of relief as she saw Sun Hao Ming being knocked down.
"What's against discipline? This time I came out with the organization's consent." Wang Ke looked at Tian Mi, feeling a wave of heartache, and smiled wryly.
The prince did not put his mind on the two women, but instead kept staring at the corpse with rapt attention. He couldn't believe that he had been solved so easily. But after a few minutes passed, the corpse lying there was still motionless, could it be that he was being overly suspicious!
And this is just the beginning.
In the pitch-black night sky, a thin and withered figure emerged from the water's surface. The wrinkles on his forehead had accumulated into a mass, his pale eyes had no pupils, and a hint of a sinister smile played on the corners of his mouth.
Wang Ke pulled Wang Chu to one side and whispered, "Wang Chu, Tian Mi seems to be unaware that she is already dead. We must not let her know! If she finds out, I'm afraid something terrible will happen!"
Actually, Wang Chu also had such a guess, but he never mentioned it, and just nodded in agreement.
"What shall we do now?" Wang Chu asked.
"We can't stay here any longer. Have you noticed that this ghost only kills under two conditions? First, it must be in this village, and second, you must be present. Let's leave immediately." Wang furrowed his brow in deep thought.
Wang Chu recalled the recent events and felt that what Wang Ke said was not impossible, and the car accident also occurred in the village border area.
"What about the corpse?" asked Wang Chu.
"Take it away and burn it!" King Ke said after a moment of contemplation.
But when they turned their eyes back to where the body had been, the ground was empty and the corpse was gone.
The two of them were taken aback at once, their faces filled with astonishment.
"Hurry up and leave this place" Wang Chu said bitterly
……
"Ah......" Tian Mi's sharp cry made both of them jump in shock.
"What's wrong, Tian Mi!" Wang Zhuo asked anxiously!
"Mind your own business!" Tian Mi seemed still upset about being thrown off by Wang Cang earlier, and said with a scowl.
Wang Chu felt a moment of awkwardness, but it was also hard to explain. After all, he couldn't tell her that he had already died.
"Just now, something tripped me up." Tian Mi didn't like to hold grudges, and seeing Wang Cang's appearance, she didn't squeeze him again.
Wang Ke shone his flashlight downwards onto the ground.
"It's a flashlight, isn't that the one she took with her when she left? How did it end up here!" Wang Chong couldn't help but shudder all over, he thought of Chu Jing, and how the first time he saw her, he felt she looked too much like his grandmother, which made him feel fearful.
"Yes, it was hers, but she's already dead!" Wang said dejectedly, after all, it was a human life.
"What? Dead? How did he die?" Wang Cang's face showed a look of astonishment.
"Ahahahaha! I'm the one who killed her!" A chilling voice whispered in my ear, like a sharp sword piercing through.
"This, this voice, is Grandma Wang's!" Wang Chu exclaimed in terror, and he couldn't help but recall the tragic death of his uncle, Sun.
Just as he was about to pull the two women away, Wang Ke pulled him back.
"It's pitch black all around, do you know where she is hiding? What if we bump into her by accident, listen to me, the surroundings are all grasslands, as long as she makes a sound, we will know, be quiet!" Wang Ke seemed to force out these words with urgent breathing.
"Shut up! She can fly, you've never seen it before, I've suffered for this once!" Wang Chu thought of the miserable appearance of Sun Shu dying on the boat last night.
"What?" Wang Cang said, and then Wang Ke looked incredulous, speechless.
"Damn it! Hurry up and run!" Wang Chu's heart was burning with anxiety.
The three of them seemed to have randomly chosen a direction and took off running.
"Where to run?" Tian Mi seemed very bewildered.
"Wherever she goes, we'll follow. Based on yesterday's experience, she shouldn't kill us in a short period of time!" Wang Chu gazed at Tian Mi.
Tian Mi felt puzzled and continued to ask: "Why won't you kill us within a short period of time?"
"Because she's just like you, she loves to play!" Wang Chu teased.
Just then, a figure appeared in front of the three people, an old man's shadow.
The three of them suddenly stopped in their tracks, staring at the figure before them in shock.
"Indeed, he is as elusive as a ghost."
"I've had enough fun, but I'll make you die with your eyes closed. Let's start with you and this little girl!" Grandma Wang pointed at Wang Chu and Tian Mi, continuing: "Do you still remember that fake news? That was something I fabricated for you to see, to make you believe she was dead. I wanted to see how she would react when she knew she was already dead, but unfortunately, you didn't tell her. I'm very disappointed. But you abandoned her, haha! Oh, right, it was me who blocked her shadow, so you can't see it."
"Let's talk about you, Miss Wang Ke. You're very pretty, unfortunately..." Grandma Wang seemed to sigh, and then said: "Do you still remember the phone call you received next to the giant stone? Actually, it was me who called you, pretending to be your friend, haha... In fact, there were five of you in total. Have the memories I erased been restored?" Grandma Wang's voice seemed even colder, as if she had gained pleasure from Wang Ke.
Wang Ke and Wang Chu heard this and their mood seemed to become complicated, now that everything had come to light, the only good news for them was that Tian Mi was still alive.
Just as Grandma Wang's voice fell, a woman with a gloomy face and wearing a floral cheongsam emerged from the corpse.
